The best hotel we have stayed at in Tenerife. We were greeted by very friendly staff on our arrival and as our room wasn't ready we were given a complementary meal and drink. The room was in lovley surroundings and had fresh fruit and wine on our arrival. Facilities at the... more

AMAZING THis hotel is well worth the five stars in its title. On arrival we were greeted by staff to take our bags to our rooms, once stating our names to the very helpful reception staff; we were asked to have a complementary drink whilst they checked us in and did all of... more

We've been visiting this hotel on and off for 8 years - and we'll keep going back. It's simply the best resort hotel that we've stayed at. The rooms are spotless, pretty big and very well kitted out. The hotel grounds and pools are very pleasant indeed and they are a joy... more

Beautiful surroundings, lovely rooms. Great food and the room service was a bargain giving us enough food for lunch too!
Only complaint was that the rooms were a little noisy since there were no carpets anywhere.
Resort just right for us seeing as we were honeymooners but we would have been a little bored otherwise.

This is a superb hotel. We had a fantastic holiday. We have stayed in hotels around the world and this one is up there with the best of them.
I could write books about this hotel but I think a short sharp comment gives it a better review.

We have just returned having spent our honeymoon at the Hotel Jardines de Nivaria. This is a fantastic hotel, beautiful gardens, great pools, the biggest double bed we have ever seen and mind boggling breakfasts. The staff were all very friendly, there was a bottle of... more

We found the hotel to be exceptionally clean, the staff very helpful and the facilities very good. The hotel is situated in an area close to Playa de las Americas called Costa Adeje or more specifically Playa de Fanabe. This area is smart and there is a bit of building... more

Dated 5 *
Just returned from a week here, paid to upgrade to a junior suite with sea view, could just about see the sea but we were facing the promenade so couldnt sit out as so many people walking past. Breakfast is good plenty of very good fresh fruit and if you plan it right you can sit out on the large balcony overlooking the pool/gardens. Bit of a shock in the bar toilets cockroaches two nights on the run which the staff laughed off, common in Tenerife apparently! Overall Nice hotel, nice rooms, lovely pool, quite glam clientel very mixed not many english, needs a bit of tlc here & there, its not LHW standard & we wouldnt rush back. When booking golf go through the public relations as you get discounts on most courses, Las Americas is a fabulous course but very pricey presumably to maintain standards. The location of the hotel is a shock if you havent been before from the sea prom turn left and you are in blackpool with a Mcdonalds on the beach. awful. However if you head the other way either along the prom or out of the main reception and left towards Playa Del Duque there is a fabulous beach, nice shops, the rather inmpressive looking Bahia hotel and some truly wonderful restaurants, try La Torre Del Mirador, rated 4th best in Tenerife, fabulous wine, food and ambience.
Very nice hotel
We agree with all the previous reviews. This is a very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were spacious and modern (flat screen tv, balcony or terrace). We were in the Guajara building but had a day room overlooking the pool on our final day and this room seemed a little nicer. We didn't eat in the hotel, but tried all the restaurants along the promenade outside the hotel. We didn't have a single disappointing meal. Breakfast at the hotel is superb with lots of choice including, eggs any way, bread, salmon, asparagus, prawns, hams, cheese, fruit and just about anything else you can think of. Oh yes, the Cava! The pool area is delightful with plenty of space and sun loungers. There's a saltwater heated pool and a cold, freshwater one with waterfall. Great fun. We'd definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a restful week in the sun.
Wonderful hotel - again
We returned here in September after a wonderful week spent at this hotel last January. Again the hotel was superb. We had a beautiful suite overlooking the sea with a huge balcony. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The one downside at this hotel this time was the outdoor entertainment in the evening. Not everyone, us included, wants to listen to music and dancing until nearly midnight. I think this only happens during the warmer evenings because the entertainment was indoors in January. Breakfast is amazing especially the fresh orange juice squeezed before your eyes! The main restaurant is a buffet in the evenings but we don't like buffets so we tried various restaurants in the area. The hotel's 'Playa Navaria' restaurant is very good but our favourite has to be the 'Willow Tree' on the first floor of the Plaza del Duqur shopping centre, only a short walk from the hotel. You're greeted with a glass of cava while you look through the menu. All the food was freshly cooked and delicious. The staff were so friendly and we ended up eating there several times. We can thoroughly recommend it and the hotel and will certainly return there on our next trip to Tenerife.
Lovely hotel - Not nice resort
The hotel is extremely pleaseant and the staff really are the most friendliest and efficient you'd ever meet! We stayed in a Junior Suite because we had a cot which was a good size. We paid £400 for a sea view which we didn't get and when we swapped rooms it was only accessable via 3 different lifts because we had a pushchair. The breakfast was a huge buffet to suit most tastes butm the evening buffets were very dissappointing. The selection was extremely small, mainly fish and salad and the quality wasn't that great either. We went half board and decided to eat at the A La Carte restaurant instead where you get a 15euro discount, the food there was excellent. There is a continual race for sun loungers and if you hadn't reserved one by 8.30 there were none left. The entertainment was an evening pianist, one evening an opera singer and a magician, rather dissappointing! All in all a lovely hotel if you go B&B and don;t venture out of the hotel as the resort is Dire..and somewhat remenicent of Blackpool or similar!!!!!!
Nice but money grabbing.....
If you want a nice looking hotel, genrally good staff this is for you but....money grabbing and in a truly 'tourist' area. Whilst we stayed we queried at reception about customs duties. Reception did not know the answer so they rang our rep. Later we go to check out..now understand we paid nearly £3,000 to stay here and £300 in extras i.e. wine etc. The bill had this phone call on it ... 40p...yes, 40p. We said we made no calls but they proceed to use 2 members of staff to re-ring the number to check it, find out who it was and then say we were charged because we asked them to call the rep! Also..arranged some flowers for my parents anniversary. Paid about £20 and got 4 roses in a vase in the room. Complained and this was rectified but this is not the point. Billiards 2 euros a game, putting on the 7? hole course, don't forget the 20 euro deposit per club! Wine supermarket 4 euros, hotel 20 euros. Being 5 star should not mean you have the license to fleece people. The final thing is the area - on the sea front - good views, but the hotel is surrounded by cafes with people offering you all day english breakfast for 2 euro, telling you the football is on tonight, offering beer for 1 euro. St.Moritz this isn't! Even the taxi driver switched off the meter and demanded more than the fare. Wouldn't rush back....
A very pleasant week
Picked this hotel at the last minute having seen favourable reviews on Trip Advisor, and realising that we (early 40's couple) could get away for a week without the kids. We were looking for a relaxing week in pleasant surroundings and the J de N certainly delivered this. Excellent service and friendly staff throughout. Clientele very cosmopolitan - not many British people but plenty of Germans, some Spanish and French and lots of Russians. It is something of a fashion parade (even at breakfast) with lots of linen and designer sunglasses in evidence. This is not a bad thing intself but if I was going again I would pack more smart clothes and less shorts & T-shirts. Breakfast is as outstanding as other reviewers have said - everything from special diet products through to crepes with chocolate sauce, via omelettes cooked to your personal taste and more types of bread than I knew existed. The sparkling cava (it's not actually champagne) went so well with the freshly squeezed orange juice we just had to give in to temptation on most mornings! As a result, breakfast turned into a "several courses" event and the service was so prompt that we had our table re-set with a new table cloth on a couple of occasions! ( the trick is to never leave the table unattended and take turns to visit the buffet). Particularly nice to able to sit outside on a terrace overlooking the landscaped pool area and beyond that the sea. The free towel service/sunbed cover service worked really well. The pools area is fantastic - it is actually like being in a botanical gardens with little plaques identifying all the different trees that you are stting next to. Lots of waterfalls and the constant sound of running water was very relaxing and thankfully not spoilt by any piped-in music. Others have said the pool area was a bit cramped and that is true if you want to be right next to the pool but there are grassy areas and a raised tiled terrace overlooking the sea that were very quiet if you wanted some more of your own space. Plenty of sunbeds even if you only get to the pool after 11am. We stayed in the cheapest option, bed & breakfast in a standard double room. It was very nicely furnished and absolutely spotless. Fresh towels & sheets every day, bathrobes, slippers, a rose and chocolate left on your bed when it was turned down in the evening. Large terrace with 2 sun beds and satellite TV including Sky News and Sky Sports 1, not just the usual BBC World that we have had elsewhere. We didn't eat in the hotel as we prefer to seek out other restaurants but the buffet dinner for half board guests looked very good. Playa Nivaria on the promenade was pricey ( compared to the competition) so as a result was always very quiet. The poolside bar was pleasant but quite dressy for lunch (like breakfast) so you need to be wearing a shirt etc - I personally prefer a true "pool bar" where I can get a cold beer dressed in my swim shorts but that is just a personal quibble. One of the best things about J de N in my view is the location - set in the middle of two very different options. As you leave the hotel front door turn right for Playa Fanabe with the usual fayre of "fun" pubs and fairly low cost eating options - special mention for the thatched beach bars which stay open in the evening with flame torches creating a lovely atmosphere. Get as far as the In & Out Bar ( part covered and partly beach, hence the name) and there is a fantastic band playing rock covers. Turn left out of the hotel front door and head for Playa del Duque - only 10 minutes walk - and you are rewarded not only with a fabulous beach ( with white sand imported from the Sahara) but classy beach front cafes by day, and lovely upmarket restauraunts and bars in the evening - try the Toro del Miradore for great al fresco food watching the sunset over Gomera island and Bar Acanto next door for pre or post dinner drinks. There is also very upmarket shopping at Plaza del Duque which is half way ( a whole 5 minutes from the hotel!) if you need to break the journey! ( nice tapas bar on the downstairs level too). We loved this little part of Tenerife for a week of sun and relaxation and will certainly look to return to the J de N again.
5 Star and Fabulous
We have just spent a week at the Jardines de Nivaria Hotel in Tenerife with our teenage son and daughter. It was 5 Star and Fabulous! We cannot fault anything. The staff were all friendly, courteous and with a sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble. The facilities were brilliant, and the breakfast buffet, a feast to behold. Nothing will ever compare! I used your site before booking our holiday and found the reviews so helpful. Hope you find this one too! Many thanks.
Lovely hotel
We stayed in the Jardines de Nivaria for 11 days in March 2006 and really enjoyed the comfort; clean , well equipped rooms and heated pool, plus a good location.Very handy for early morning walks in the glorious sunshine. There is plenty of space in the hotel to escape the other guests but the pool area is just slightly cramped. As others have said, the buffet breakfast is excellent. We only ate in the hotel restaurants a couple of times. The Copula is very nouvelle cuisine and the Playa Nivaria was OK. There are plenty of restaurants around but we particularly liked the Willow Tree in the Plaza del Duque centre. An unlikely location but execellent food and service. We liked this area of Tenerife - very well maintained and peaceful.
Champagne for Breakfast in not enough
Chammpagne for breakfast is not enough to make this an undisputed five star hotel. There are many elements of the hotel that are worthy of the five star rating such as the building and the grounds, the breakfast buffet which offers champagne to go with the freshly squeezed orange juice and the staff service. However there are as many inconsistencies which call the five star rating into question. The bathroom has twin basins but we had to run the water for several minutes before it came through hot, likewise the overbath shower which was distinctly two star. The bath robes in our bathroom were torn and a dripping tap in the bathroom was not identified by the housekeeping staff. As others have observed the doubble bed is in fact two singles pushed together, although they are generously large single beds. The only TV channels in English were news channels and even though the most basic hotesl in UK and USA offer in room tea and coffee making facilities this practice does not seem to have reached even five star hotels in Spain. We did enjoy having our own sunbeds on the patio outside our room so we did not investigate the availability of sunbeds around the pool. The only restaurant that we ate in apart from the breakfast buffet was the Playa de Nivaria restaurant on the promenade, we found the service excellent, which it should have been as the restaurant was never more than half full. We found the menu in the supposed Gourmet Cupola restaurant decidedly uninspiring. We also appreciated the fact that the no smoking indoors policy was enforced and observed by customers.
Good in parts
Just returned from a week at the Jardines De Nivaria. Some aspects of the hotel were good. The breakfast buffet was impressive with an excellent range of foods. In the evening We only ate in the mid range promenade side resteraunt which served straightforward international food and this was good and well priced. The poolside resteraunt was also good although I found the choice a little limited.Service in all parts of the hotel was excellent and extremely attentive. Lastly the hotel has a well equiped gym. On the negative side the rooms were not that spacious. We had a superior sea view suite with sitting room but both Bedroom and sitting room were "cosy.". The double bed was infact 2 large singles pushed together, not comfortable for a couple. Both rooms had flat screen Tv's great we thought until finding that the only English language channels were CNN or BBC World..as the weather was not very good during our stay a decent choice of TV would have been appreciated. I do not understand how anyone can think that constant news is entertainment..Many overseas hotels now subscribe to BBC prime which offers a good selection of programmes. Whilst the pool area was very attractive and we appreciated the heated pool and Jaccuzi the sun beds were quiet crammed together for a 5* hotel. Lastly the hotel resembles a '80's shopping centre with mock doric columns, inside a mismash of mock art deco and art noveau in a hideous clash of styles. It does not really set the tone for a sophisticated atmosphere. Costa Adeje which is meant to be the upmarket end of the resort is O.K., nice promenade but being hideousy over developed with massive blocks of apartments stretching right up the hillsides overlooking the resort totally ruining the view. So all in all it was OK but we've had better. I dont to be honest think I would go again. I have visited Tenerife on a number of occasions in 4 and 5 * hotels and have yet to find one that really excels. The coastal parts of the island are very ugly, particulary in the South...everywhere you drive seems to be motorway, huge developments or mile apon mile of poly tunnel...the only reason for going is for abit of sun in the winter and we didnt get much !
