My partner and I are just back from a 10 day stay in this hotel and we were not impressed. In the advert for this hotel it shows a white facade with balconies but this is not the entrance to the hotel, tyhe actual entrance being down a small lane and tucked away in amongst... more

My partner and I have just returned from a 6 night break at Hotel Kristal, Torremolinos. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. It is based right in the heart of Torremolinos, on the doorstep are all the shops, bars and restaurants. The train station... more

Stayed there with family (5 of us). The hotel is situated in the middle of Torremolinos as the brochures say. The problem really for us brits is that the hotel mainly caters for the spanish who seem to be there on short breaks etc and tend to be generally very loud with the... more

Horses for courses!
I stayed for 4 nights here as part of a stag party and was expecting the worst, having read some of the reviews on here and the overall rating. I was pleasantly surprised in that the rooms, while basic, were clean and had ensuite facilities, air conditioning and a TV (only the awful CNN in english though). The staff were friendly, good natured and helpful and the continental breakfast was OK, if a bit basic. The hotel is situated over a number of alleys in the centre of town so it does get noisy at night; i.e. you hear every party group coming back in and the bins being put out etc. It doesn't have a pool but there is a rooftop terrace. The key thing to bear in mind about Hotel Kristal is that it's a cheap basic hotel right in the middle of Torremolinos. It's ideal for young and/or lively groups to use as a base for the central bars and cafes. If you are looking for a quiet getaway or have young children in tow then you should probably look elsewhere... As a final point, I wouldn't have chosen to stay in Torremolinos myself and did feel that there wasn't anything to do outside of beach, bars and shops. Of course, this might be what you're after!

DELHI BELLY
Initial impression poor - taxi driver at airport did not know where it was! Room was basic but clean 2 x single beds, bath/shower toilet & bidet. 14" television - several channels but only CNN in English. Mattresses were rock hard & pillows too thin. Standard Continental breakfast (fairly limited range & same every day) Evening meals dreadful - this was general concensus of English guests. Appreciate that it is a Spanish hotel & cooking seemed to go down well with Spanish guests but some consideration for other nationalities tastes would not go amiss. Staff polite but not very friendly. Early in season but televison/bar area was mostly deserted day and night despite hotel being quite full. Probably explained by poor selection of drinks and relatively high prices. Location was great for shops etc but beach was down a fairly steep lane with many steps. OK if you are fit but not good for elderly or anyone disabled.
hated the place
please dont stay you will be writing on this page to say how terrible this place is. the smells is awsome staff ok no tvs in rooms breakfast was a joke
Hostel not hotel
Awful place waste of time attempting to talk to staff , rooms resemble prison cells ruined my girlfriends birthday treat. I have never stayed in a place so bad in my life , i am currently sleeping on a building site but at least have hot running water!!!!!!. Food cannot be called food ,no kettle inrooms. Three star hotel dont make me laugh did they get them free in a box of frosties!!!! Glad to be back in civilisation tour operators should not offer this place to people unless they are to be put under a custodial sentence .However Torremolinos itself had alot to offer and the weather was great .
this is not a hotel its a building down an smelly alley.
they call it a hotel but really its a building down a horrible alley. i took my girlfriend to this place for her birthday.... WHAT A MISTAKE. if you like old people and staff who dont speak english and dont even know how to make a tequlia sunrise in their "bar" please by all means go here. it was a disaster... the only good thing about it, was that the rooms where clean. everything else was bad. about a 25 minutes walk to the beach and they had no swimming pool. the day we arrived we where quite tired so we had a shower and all it was was a little dribble of WARM water. i dont care what people say Torremolinos does not have restaurants!!! Its all bars that serve food. not very good at all. NO cocktail bars and no one speaks english. this was me and my girlfriends first time on holiday together and it wasnt a good experience. NOT RECONMENDED FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (or anyone in fact)
how did they make the stars?
before arriving at hotel kristal in torremolinos i was staying in a four star hotel in seville (only 1 star more than kristal) when we arrived to the hotel kristal after my mums delayed flight and feeling hungry we were so relieved to hear from the reception that some food had been kept aside for us..or so we thought... we went into the restaurant (which i nicknamed 'canteen') to find 2 plates for us filled with.. guess? cheese, salami and hams, some kind of ham in breadcrumbs and some potatoes. as we arrived late i kind of lost my apetite anyway so i just ate the cheese. we went for breakfast next morning, to find the same meats and cheese, some chewy cornflakes, hard breadrolls... need i go on. yes its true at home i dont really eat cooked breakfast so i wasnt too fussed (but you need to start the day on a full stomach) but they could of provided some variety of cereals rather than cornflakes everyday.. dinner wasnt much to talk about either..and i was shocked to see people emptying their own trays and clearing their own tables ... i mean i thought we were on 'holiday' and what did i actually pay for? i stayed in a hostal with my friend in february in seville and it was deffinately alot more comfortable there.. we paid a few pounds more to stay in this hotel and got better service in a hostal in seville. maybe i am a fussy eater or after staying in a hotel the week before with an extra star in seville i found it better there, but my mum said when she stayed in a hotel in torremolinos year before last that she had alot more variety in foods, close to the beach and well spacious rooms.. so how do hotels actually get their stars?..im putting it down to people from malaga being alot more generous when they hand out their ratings. (as for there being alot of spanish staying this didnt bother me as i speak spanish anyway but my mum found it quite scarey and intimidating.. bless!) its a pity but i really wanted to take photos of the food.. just so people didnt think i was just being so fussy.. then maybe people who read these reviews wont just think that we always complain.
Good Hotel
We stayed at the Kristal for 2 weeks this June and found the place very good. Maid service came in every day to change towels and make beds even though we made our own beds, they were re-made! A very Spanish hotel but reception staff and restaurant staff very friendly and all spoke good English. The breakfast was continental; bread rolls, cheese, ham, sweet breads etc. There was also cornflakes, even though some people moaned about them! Most of the English customers in the hotel were moaning about the breakfast as they wanted egg, bacon and tomatoes every morning! How many people eat that for breakfast every day at home! I like my bran cereals in the morning so I just bought some at the supermarket and took those down every morning, but hubby settled for the roll and hams etc. Dinner was lovely every night. Soup to start. There was always plenty of salads, a fish dish, meat dish, veg, chips most nights. Sweet was fine, yoghurts, angel delight, jelly or sometimes cake, then there was always fresh fruit of oranges, apples and pears. We certainly never left hungry, but I know there were people who were not happy at all with the choice of food, but when in Spain you expect spanish cooking and spanish dishes. We would definitely use this hotel again. The only one downside with the place was there is no swimming pool and the sea is about 5-10 minutes walk downhill, but at least it keeps you fit walking up again! For the price we paid for half board accommodation it was excellent, and in a good location in Torremolinos yet quiet at night.
A great location
I stayed at the Hotel Kristal for a week with 9 other lads on a golf holiday. The Hotel is fairly basic but if you looking for a hotel with a bed containing clean linen and a clean bathroom then this should be your choice. The surrounding areas provided us with so much to do in terms of shopping, drinking, walking and the beach was a lovely 10 minute stroll. There’s a fantastic karoke bar to the left of the hotel which is open until 3pm. Not a resort for a family with young children.
