Great location, but a little dated.
I stayed here for a short break with my sisters mid September. Torremolinos itself is a lovely little town, with plenty of shops and places to eat. It is also well situated for the airport, which is around a 15-20 minute drive. The hotel is in an ideal location for both the beach and the town of Torremolinos. The lift mentioned in previous reviews is great to cut out the steep hill that leads to the town. The outdoor pool area is clean and well maintained with plenty of sun loungers. The indoor pool seemed deserted and extremely uninviting, but the sun was shinning so there was no need to be inside. We didn’t eat at the hotel, but we had a couple of drinks in the small bar area most evenings. The bar was quiet with not a lot in the way of entertainment. This was fine for us as that is what we wanted, but if you are after a lively evening, you might be better staying elsewhere. We found our room and the surrounding corridor quite dingy. We were on the forth floor and did not have a view of anything, plus the corridor outside had no natural light. The room was cleaned to a high standard, but the decor and facilities were dated. The kitchenette was extremely basic but functional. All in all we enjoyed our stay here, but I’m not sure I would stay here again.
Good value for money.
Nice hotel, perfect location near beach and center. Elevator to the street leading to the center was nice but you have to be back at the hotel before midnight to be able to use it. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception, especially mr Paco. Cleaning good, new towels daily. Nice poolarea. Rooms spacious and had everything we needed, all necessary equipment in the kitchen, powerful aircondition, TV did not work well and had only spanish tv-channels. The only problem is that if you have noisy neighbours then you will not get any sleep as you can even hear people talking in the next room. We were lucky so we really enjoyed our stay at Aguamarina and will recommend this hotel to our friends.
Great location
Stayed here 1st week in may 2006 , so this possibly explains why the hotel was quieter than we expected. We had a 2 bed apartment which had 2 bathrooms, apartment was clean and very very spacious. We had no complaints and wouldnt say the apartment was scruffy but a quick coat of paint would not have gone amiss. Beds comfortable , large patio, tv with many channels ( not many english). Powerfull hot showers but one of them did soak the floor as curtain inadequate. Maid service was excellent. Outdoor pool was well maintained and a good size. Indoor pool smaller than expected but still ok. Cannot comment on bar and restaurant other than to say it looked ok. We never saw anyone in the bar , As mentioned in other reviews this hotel has a perfect location and the `magic` lift helps avoid the hill to the town centre. very short walk to beach and bars. Parking was not available at the hotel but we always managed to park nearby on the street. No entertainment and nothing for kids to do at the hotel . Considering this hotel was very reasonably priced, has a great location and is only advertised as a 3 star I would say it is above average. I cannot say if things gets livelier later in the year but it was very quiet ( as was the whole of torremolinos) and we did struggle to keep the kids entertained ( maybee benidorm next time/go later in year)
Lost in Space
The Aguamarina Hotel is opposite to the Sol don Pablo. It has an outdoor pool and restaurant. We rented a studio which was HUGE -spacious cannot describe it -with a kitchenette, television, sideboard with table lamp, table and four chairs, and the most enormous bed we have ever seen in our lives. The Great Bed of Ware in the Victoria and Albert Museum fades into insignificance compared to this thing. Everything was spotlessly clean. In the bathroom (nearly as large as the other room and bigger than my living room) the bath tub was circular and almost the size of a water deposit or a mini swimming pool. We just had showers. There was no shower curtain, not that there was any means to hang one with the walls so far apart. Unfortunately there was no balcony or terrace-just a window which faced out to a wall which was just below the level of the upper road outside. There is a hotel elevator which takes you up to this road.
Very good hotel
Stayed in hotel 1-8th May 2004. Extremely well run hotel. Rooms and all facilities spotless. Indoor as well as outdoor pool, which was handy as it rained fairly constantly first 2 days! Staff friendly and efficient. Good location, near to but not on beachfront. Our 1 bedroom apartment with veranda on 2nd floor overlooked the pool and the hotel across the road. Rooms on higher floors would have better views of sea. Easy walking distance of restaurants/ bars shops etc. Hotel lift to upper road is a godsend - stiff climb otherwise. My only quibble was with the evening buffet in the hotel. Rather uninspiring although good value if you are in a eat-all-you-can mood. If you are grocery shopping, turn left from the hotel, ignore the small supermarket on corner of road (tourist trap), turn right, cross road, take first left and it takes you to very large cheap supermarket where the locals shop.
not bad but beware 201!
We but the aquamarina for a last minute short break at the end of April. We arrived very early in the morning and checked into the 1 remaining studio. The studio itself was fine. It was furnished to a good standard with nice firm matresses..not the norm in Spain! Above all it was clean and well presented. The reception areas were also well presented and the staff were helpful and friendly. The only downside was our studio (201) was beside the lift and stairwell. Consequently was very noisy. This particular studio also has no terrace..just a set of iron padlocked bars to look out at! We decided to put up with it as we were only there and short time but I wouldn't care to spend a week in it! The hotel's location is good with easy access to beaches and shops. It is on an incline but then so is everywhere else..torremolinos town centre is built on the side of a hill! There is also a lift from the lobby which takes you up to the town above (although it stops at midnight). In summary the Aquamarina is a nice aparthotel but we'll be staying clear of the lift next time!
Lovely holiday
We had one week there in Aug 2002,myself,hubby and six year old boy plus nan and grandad. We are going back for NEW YEAR2003.Again same party plus sis and 2 kids.Well recommended.
Great Holiday
Myself and my friend decided to book a holiday in May and choose to stay in the Aguamarina, We had the best holiday ever. The staff at the Aguamarina went out of there way to make you feel welcome. The rooms were spotless and cleaned every day. The only downfall to the accomodation was that unless you got up early there was no sunbeds left by the pool but then again you get that no matter where you go. To all the staff in the Aguamarina a big thank you and hope to be back again very soon.
Great Value
We reserved 2 studios and 2 1 bedroom apts. for a family vacation. We were 6 adults and 1 two year old.The rooms were clean and functional. The staff was helpful. The location was great, near the beach and an elevator ride and short walk to the pedestrian street.
Best times
Me and my friends (8 people) have been staying there for the last 3 years, and it is the best hotel in Torremolinos, especially the personalized service by the staff. Some of our other friends were staying at other hotels like; Principito sol, Timor sol and Bajondillo, but all of our friends wanted to change their reservation to Aguamarina. That say's it all ;O)
