Hotel Sultan Club Marbella

Sadly we were disappointed with this hotel.We went here after looking around the place last yearwith high expectation and excitement.Marbella is a wonderful place and this hotel is ideally situated very close to beach and walking distance to the town centre.However we were met by a very miserable receptionist and given no info about the many facilities the hotel offers.We were given our key and then really had to fend for ourselves.It was rumoured that hotel staff in the area were to strike soon due to poor pay,so this may be the reason.The... more

Myself, husband and two children (16 & 6 yrs)stayed at this hotel last August for two weeks, after booking I read previous reviews and thought I had made a big mistake - but too late we were going. Upon arrival first impressions were great it was ideally located and the room was fabulous, a lovely corner room with lots of space and very clean, we took a walk to the beach just 5 mins away, to find some excellent restaurants and bars plus some small funfair things for the younger child, the beach was great and not crowded. Wouldn't rush back to the Sultan Club. Hotel staff unfriendly and unhelpful. No information about the hotel in your room/in reception, we had to guess how to get to the indoor pool and jacuzzi! Rooms average - would expect more from a **** hotel. One plus point for the hotel - it was in a great location for the beach, restaurants and bars

My family ( 2 children, aged 4 and 2 )and my husband stayed here in October 2005 for one week. The hotel is comfortable, spacious and airy, however Iam used to 5 star accommodation and i felt the decor was somewhat tired. the kitchen facilities were adequate, electric hob, oven, dishwasher and fridge ( only used the hob and fridge) there was no kettle in the room. Had a fabulous holiday here in July 2005. Wonderful place.Apartment was spacious and clean. Lovely restaurants all within walking distance. 5 minutes from the sea. The promenades were all spotless.About a 15 minute walk to Marbella old town which is fantastic.It is also an ideal base for visiting other places e.g Granada, Seville etc. We have already booked to return in 2006!

Myself, Husband, Mother and young daughter (3) stayed in the Sultan Club for 2 weeks in September 05 and we used this Hotel as our base while on holiday. Wonderful position, close to the beach within walking distance to all amenities, supermarket 5 minutes away. And the Old Town which I thought was amazing was only about a 20 minute walk. Also Puerto Banus was a 10 minute taxi drive which cost approximately €8.00 or you could take the boat trip which was a similar price. This hotel/self catering apartment is about 200 metres from the beach on a tree lined avenue, and next to a dried up river, which can be used as another short cut to the beach. The staff in this hotel are very helpful, although the barman at the pool should learn to speak a little english. The room are very good, cleaned daily and well furnished but again, no British news, all American and therefore middle east news takes priority. We have just spent a week at the Sultan Club & the appartment was fine, but a few basic extra would have made a big difference ie Knives that are sharp enough to cut, something to wash up with, a dish cloth etc. The dishwasher was just a rinser & didn't wash anything clean at all. Our appartment had NO sun morning or evening & we were unable to change room due to balcony restrictions with UK travellers. My family and I have stayed in the Sultan Club twice over 2week periods in the past 2 years. We have found it to be excellent ie location, cleaniness, facilities, in-house food and staff. The areas that need improvement I would like to see are: Pool area very confined, better TV channel choice for english speaking guests and more nightly entertainment in the hotel for guests young and old. My wife and I and friends dined in the Restraunt in the hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the staff and food was first class. Well done... more
