" Fantastic!! "

Me and my family stayed at the Elif for 3weeks in August and had the best time. All of the staff were so welcoming even at 4 o'clock in the morning when we arrived. Our bags were taken up to our rooms which we couldn't of been happier with. Admittedly the rooms are basic, but we hardly spent anytime in them because we were out enjoying Icmeler most of the time. We had the most beautiful view of Icmeler from our balcony.
Most of our time was spent on the beach with the hotels beach boy Sergio, he was absolutley fantastic and couldn't of done enough of us. He saved us sunbeds right by the sea everyday and kept us all amused.
The hotel waiters were great, especially Ahmed, Ali and John. They had all of us up dancing, they kept everybody amused from our parents to our little sister. The service in the restaurant was impeccable and the food was lovely.
Turkish night was one of our favourite evenings, the BBQ and buffet was delicious. And the entertainment was amazing. We went to all 3 of the turkish nights that were on while we where there and the entertainment was different every week.
We couldn't of had a better time at the Elif Hotel and would like to thank all of the staff and we all look forward to returning next year.
Emily and Natalie.

" Avoid Elif Hotel! "

Very disappointed on arrival at this hotel when we arrived the staff did not even say hello there was no lift so we had to lift all are luggage up three flights of stairs. I was expecting the room to be basic but this was very minimal no fridge, only two drawers, no safe in the room and no hairdryer. The room was in desperate need of refurbishment we had exposed nails on one of the bed heads and numerous light bulbs out that no one ever seems to check! The bathroom was small and dingy with cracked tiles and a shower curtain i did not want to touch. I only ever got one hot shower not what you expect on holiday!! The beds were also rock hard and the sheet covering the bed was not adequate for two people. I was not impressed with the breakfast this was not covered free for flies to land on and sitting in the heat of the sun with a very limited selection of bread, olives, eggs and cheese, we paid for bed and breakfast but the breakfast was so bad that I never actually ate it there was no juice or cereals and the tea and coffee were awful. We did not ever eat at the hotel as food that we saw looked horrible! Icmeler beach front had a fantastic views and there were some nice restaurants and friendly people and superb hotels go to them. The street the elif is on is dirty with rubbish bags piled up and scrub land although the view from our room did have a stunning view of the sea. I would never go back to this hotel at all and after hearing the macarana song everynight it does your head in. Please choose another hotel as there are some lovely ones along the beach front!

" BRILLIANT!!!! "

We travelled in a party of 13 although only 6 of us stayed at the elif, 4 adults and two young children, we absolutley loved it!! The hotel IS basic, but thats what it says in the brochure, the rooms are very clean and bedding and towels are changed regularly, the place could do with a revamp but the staff make the holiday for you. The rest of our gang spent most of their time on the elif part of the beach at no charge and the kids had a fab time with the one and only SUPER SERGIO!!!!!! This bloke is a star, he fetches whatever you want when you want it and plays all day and night with the kids on the beach, he made their holiday for them.
The breakfast here is not brilliant its very basic turkish with no juice for children, but the simple answer is... buy something the rest of the food is good.
The staff, mehmet, ali, ahmed, antonio, alex and the rest of them are super, nothing is too much trouble, we have never felt so welcomed anywhere before and we cannot wait to go back next year.
So, if your looking for 5 star quality then the elif is not for you, if your looking for somewhere clean to sleep with fantastic staff and in a brilliant location, then give the elif a try im sure you wont regret it!!
see you soon

Advice: the scenery is beautiful

Activities: taj mahal, istanbul, try the steak plank!!!

" fab "

On first arrival to the Elif we were tired and totaoly shocked at the basic room we were allocated.Yes it was big with 4 beds for the 3 of us, however we were not impressed with it. The bathroom was dark and dated and sink and shower would block up. we could not open the curtains due to the location of the room backing onto an alley on the ground floor. The neighbouring hotel could look into the room, it also had no sea view.
We were given another room 2 days later the bathroom was still the same this time we couldnt even use the sink as it was blocked completely. However the view was fantastic. Maid service is also very good every day, clean towels beds and room and she was a little trooper.
Breakfasts are poor boiled eggs, cucumber, tomatoe and feta cheese with bread. That is it no fruit or juice. We didnt eat at the restaurant for the first week as we were that shocked. However when we found out the set up of the hotel and separate breakfast arrangment , We had some fantastic meals there. Mehmet and Antonio were great, couldn,t do enough for you and the bar staff were a great laugh.
Without the staff I dont think we would have put up with the basic hotel they made our holiday FAB.
The plus side of this hotel is location on the beach free sunbeds, free aircon, great staff, food from restaurant elif, Also they gave us a fantastic send off that we will never forget.
Overall i believe that if the hotel ripped the bathrooms out and sorted the plumbing it could have a higher rating than it has now.

Advice: Have been here 4 times beautiful place people are friendly and plenty to do and see.

Activities: B&S cafe on the beach front , Elif restaurant, Alins grill on main road. Not Taj Mahal in Marmaris

" What a wonderful holiday!!! "

Weve just returned from the Elif and have had a wonderful holiday. Yes the Elif is basic and yes the breakfast isnt that brilliant but the hotel and all its staff were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The view from our hotel room was breath taking and the hotel is just a stones throw away from the beach. We spent most of our days on the beach and met Sergio the beach boy, he was wonderful and made sure we always had a sunbed each morning and would fetch us anything we needed. He was great fun to be around and kept all ages amused. At night we occacionally used the hotel restaurant and the staff again couldnt do enough for us. The waiters were very entertaining, especially when they did the dancing at the end of the night! My husband myself and our three girls were well looked after by everyone and will definately be returning.
Thanks to you all
Vikki & Chris

" Never agaIn "

If you pay for basic accommodation this is certainly what you get at the Elif. We spent 2 weeks there in July 2009 but would never return there.
We have used basic hotels many times in the past but never found one as bad as this place. The rooms were reasonably clean but the bathrooms could do with a really good clean. Both the sink and the toilet were cracked and the shower overflowed if you used it for more then a couple of minutes. Don`t expect a hot shower either. In 14 days spent there we only had hot water on 3 days.
The chairs provided on the balconies would be laughable if not for the fact they were unusable. All the joints on these old wooden dining chairs were coming apart and an attempt to repair them had been made by hammering a few nails into them.
We found every time we entered or left the hotel a nightmare as you had to walk through the bar area. Every time we were asked why we didn`t eat or drink there all the time and chose to go elsewhere. Sorry but we had booked bed and breakfast and didn`t feel we were under any obligation to eat their mediocre overpriced food. On the 2 occaisions we did we were joined by at least one of the waiters/barmen who insisted on regaling us of their sexual exploits with the female guests, and even offering to introduce us to a Russian prostitute who plied her trade for £10.
The only good point we found for the hotel was its proximity to the beach and its free sunbeds, although there is a downside. You can`t miss the Elifs beach area, just look for the bit with broken sunbeds and tatty torn mattresses, it was embarassing to be seen laid on them. Also beware of being charged for using them by Sergio the beachboy as they are supposed to be free to hotel guests. Also dont ask Sergio to bring you water while on the beach. A large bottle of water can be bought in local shops for 1tl, the hotel charged 3tl and Sergio charged 5tl.
Now onto the hotel breakfast. If you are not bothered what you, eat go for it. It is a typical Turkish breakfast, but of very poor quality. We felt this was to encourage you to buy a cooked breakfast, but you could buy a very good full English breakfast locally for £2,which was a lot less than the Elif charged.
We could go on to complain even further about this hotel but what would be the point. If you want somewhere cheap but grotty to go for your holidays then the Elif is for you.

Advice: Do not got to the reataurant called Vallentinos. I would not feed their food to my dog.

Activities: Try the restaurant called The Rock Pool. We had a superb 3 course dinner with steak for £7.

" DO NOT STAY IN ELIF HOTEL "

What a disappointment this hotel was after the pics that we saw on advertising websites and previous reviews.I am scoring it 1 out of 10 for the view from the balcony as I cannot give it a score for anything else.Previous reviews have implied rooms are basic in Turkey but we have stayed in lots of hotels in Turkey and they are NOT basic, but not only was the Elif basic it was unclean, the bathrooms were minging,my sink was not wiped once in 2 weeks,as for the pool area it was not cleaned once whilst we were there, under and around the sunbeds were filthy, our feet were sticking to the tiles. The pool was never cleaned out and the kids in our party all became poorly with throat/ear infections which was probably due to the filth of the pool,so we used other hotel pools and the beach...The breakfast was a poor attempt of a Turkish breakfast, laid out from 8am til 10am in full sunshine,so we ate out for breakfast. The staff were ok but when we did complain about cleanliness etc nothing was done.I do not know how tour companies are allowed to advertise and I wonder if any of their staff actually visit these places to monitor them.

Advice: Icmelar is a wonderful place for a great family holiday

Activities: the boat trip and jeep safari are great days out

" GOOD BUT !!!!!!! "

The resturant staff were brilliant, Mehmet, Antonio, Ozzy and the boys, could not do enough for us. The hotel was basic which was not a problem but the place was dirty, even though the room was kept well the bathroom tiles needed a damn good scrub as they were quite slimmy in the shower area. There was dried blood up the stairs that was not cleaned up for two days and the stairs were dirty in general. The pool area was the worst, it was not hosed down once in the two weeks we were there and we spent most of our time around the pool. The pool had a permanent layer of oil floating on the top. A lot of the sun loungers were dirty and broken. Rubbish was not cleared away from the pool area daily. The whole hotel could do with a deep clean and a couple of coats of paint as it looked very shabby. It was a shame as the hotel is in a prime location but it has put me off going to this hotel again.

Advice: great town, very lively.

Activities: Harrys (great chicken and fish) & Taj Mahal

" Hotel Elif "

This was our 4th time in Icmeler but the 1st time we had stayed at the Elif on previous visits we had stayed at the Munamar(AI) The Elif knocked it into a cocked hat, The staff from the cleaner to the owner are second to none no one can do enough for you and the bar staff are among the best in Icmeler,The rooms are basic but clean as are all communal areas. The Elif has the perfect location right on the beach and that is why we are going back in 2009

" It was our first time to turkey-... "

It was our first time to turkey- travelling with my sister, dad and stepmum. Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed the stay, the staff deffinately made the holiday! Robbie and Hussain were always on hand to help with anything, so were the other lads who worked there. Without them, this holiday wouldn't have been nearly as memorable!

The rooms at the Elif are basic, but very clean and well kept - the maid is superb! For elderly/disabled people, the shower-room may be dangerous though.

Huge thanks to all the staff.

" 4th time to Icmeler and a different... "

4th time to Icmeler and a different hotel each time.

The Elif is perfectly located for the beach and the main restaurants and bars. Very big rooms and lovely views. Really clean.

There is no fridge but the air conditioning is included in the price.

There is a nice pool area however, we spent all our time on the jetty at 'Liberty Bar' at the end of the promenade by the harbour.

The restaurant at The Elif is nice, staff are brilliant, food is great and prices are very good. (Especially the set menus) If they have eought interest, the put on a Turkish night which is well worth going to.

The one problem with this hotel is there is no lift. Luckily enough, there are only 4 floors so not much of a climb but for the less able, it would probably be better to stay somewhere else.

I will continue going to Icmeler as I think it is a brilliant resort and has something for everyone. If you like a quiteish holiday then you can take yourself off and find a nice little bar off of the main roads or if you want a bit of a wild time then you ears will lead you to the action.

My favorite restaurants: Coco Beach - on the promenade, Harry Steakhouse - on the main road by the cash machines, Liberty - on the promenade at the harbour end, Waterfall - on the main road over on the left of the resort, Harmony - Next to Liberty (Stella show is a must)

My favorite hotels in order of preferance: 1. Mar Bas 2. Dilhan 3. Elif 4. Golmar

We booked independantly, the transfers and hotel with a company called Icmeler Online. We found these brilliant. Because they are a smaller company the transfer time was 1.40mins (we had a mini bus to ourselves). When we went with Thomas Cook it took us 3hrs! They don't hastle you to go on excursions and they don't interupt your holiday with silly welocme meetings. Also, you only ever pay a deposit in this country and the balance is due when you get to resort. Gives you moe time to save and the interest stays in your pocket!

We booked flights with the cheapest company we could find. Icmeler Online will find you flights aswell if you want.
