The hotel was a Big Let Down. The food was very poor. The noise level very unexceptable. The maid service was good.

The hotel rooms are outdated and the bathroom is full of mold in the shower. Beware of Hen Nights as the walls are very thin. The food is awful, I would not feed it to my dog.

Got this hols for a good price on teletext, 3* all inclusive.
The room size was what we expected which was basic. Unfortunately our room looked out on another building with a grotty alley below. Could often see alley cats scavaging for food in the bins, lol.
The hotel staff were very nice, one particuarly nice lady on reception and nice guys at the bar.
Can't say much for the pool though! It's dinky and we never saw anyone swim in it, nice to sun lounge next to though.
The food was nice, some ordinary days and some better.
The hotel is a 2 min walk to the beach and the beach and waters were beautiful. It was full of young, old, families and children.
The cost out there was a bit pricey for the end of 2009 but it may be better now.
Be prepared to be followed round the tourist shops by owners trying to sell you things! Got a bit annoying by the end of the week.
Lloret de mar was nice but wouldn't go back as it didn't have the x factor.

We paid £227 per person all inclusive. Like the other couple our first night was spent in a horrible room, looking directly at a new build only feet away. In the morning I went to reception and explained. The very apologetic receptionist, showed us 2 rooms and let us choose. The food was very basic, o.k if you like salad and meat though. We never sat outside, we ordered our drinks at the bar like everybody else. If there was something I didn't like, I complained, got the receptionist and she sorted it. The pool area is tiny, but the beach is so close and its lovely.
All in all we got what we paid for and had a great holiday.

Where to start?...Hotel room was dark and small, had to have the lights on even in the day. When opening the doors to the balcony we were greeted to the smell from the bins underneath and were woken every morning between 6 and 7 to the bins noisily being emptied. They expected you to pay a deposit of 30euros to have t.v remote however when we asked there was no english channels. Asked to move rooms after 3 days as we were aware people in rooms overlooking the pool were going home and in all fairness we moved no problem.Shower head in this room didn't fix to the wall like the last room and toilet seat was broke in both rooms. Food was dreadful, cold not even warm, there was a microwave but you shouldn't have to heat food up that is being brought out straight from the kitchen. The only decent meal was breakfast and that was because you got to toast the bread yourself and that meant getting it hot! All inclusive guests like ourselves were treated like lower class scum. The rude witch who served you in the day would not serve you inside the bar, she used one word 'window' whilst pointing to it, regardless to the fact there was no one else inside the bar waiting to be served. The limited drinks were served out of plastic jugs into plastic cups not even a decent size so no sooner had we sat down to drink them we were back up again. We were all allowed after complaints in an evening to have glasses but it was limited. There was only one bar staff on each evening to serve the whole hotel and they were friendly and hard working. There was no entertainment at all, a guest at one point brought down his ipod and docking station for us to have music then the following night the hotel used their own hi-fi. The snacks served in the day were hot dogs, hamburgers and chips, again cold, EVERYDAY! The guest ranged from teenagers to pensioners we all got on great together as we were all in the same boat and if we didn't laugh about it we would have cried. There were a few young children staying at the hotel, there was only 1 high chair. The pool was not practical for children as it had no safe shallow part, it also had broken tiles and was not cleaned reguarly enough. The sun loungers were filthy and only 14 of them. There was an aful smell towards the rear end of the sunbathing area to which we later found out that there were rat traps in amoungst the shrubs and one guest seen the traps being emptied of dead ones early one morning. The hotel is very close to the nightlife which makes it hard to sleep and a quiet walk in the evening is not possible. Gangs of lads hang around on the corners trying to sell you glasses, watches and drugs. On a positive note the beach is very near and is very nice. Some people paid less than us some paid more but regardless to how much you have paid you still expect better treatment to what we had. I have never been on a holiday where people were on the internet finding flights home early and counting down the days before they could go home, it was the best feeling ever leaving that place.

after no sleep and a long drive to the airport we finaly arrived we was dropped off at the end of the street and had to cross a busy road. After booking in got to the room and the view was another building a few feet away. had a shower and looked up to see the room aboves floor there was a large hole in the ceiling. apparently we was the only room that had a plug for the sink but was too large (didnt complain others did and got nowere) Morning at breakfast we was served chips with little sausages the evening meals got no better either had bad tummy for couple of days so did friends who came with us. one night the food even resembled dog food so we had to eat out. Drinks we had to go to the serving hatch outside to be served by a frosty woman who kept pointing to a sign saying all inclusive outside ok. drinks were served in blue plastic cups even hot tea and coffee asked for an ashtray blue plastic cup with water in it. Walls where that thin you could hear everything going on. never again Lloret was full of noisy youths drinking till 3am.

A Good Budget Hotel
8 / 10

This hotel is not half as bad as some have indicated. You have to accept that this is a budget hotel and we paid £27 each per day for all inclusive which is great value for money.
The hotel is clean and centrally located. Bedrooms have a bath/shower (lots of hot water always available),twin beds, TV (only eurosport in english),air conditioning and balcony. Bedroom walls were pretty thin, which is great if you are nosey!
About two thirds of the guest were English, the rest were mainly German or Spanish. There is only a small pool and limited sun beds but the beach is only a couple of minutes away. Age ranges also varied from teenagers to pensioners and all mixed well together
Food was fine and there was a microwave if you wanted your food a bit warmer. Breakfast included a choice of fruit juices and cereal, sausages, beans, egg, bacon(most days)bread and toast. There was also the usual mix of cold meats and cheese plus coffee. Lunch and Dinner were pretty much similar except at dinner you got soup. For both meals you had a hot selection which consisted of meat, fish and pasta plus chips and vegetables and salad. The quality of the cooking was exellant especially the meat which was always tender. Fruit, yoghurt jelly and ice-cream were the usual choices for dessert. Wine, beer and soft drinks were also available with your meals
The all inclusive drinks options were pretty limited, the larger was Amstel which was fine, but whisky and vodka and martini (all local brews) were the only other alcoholic options. You could however only have free wine with your meal.
If you were on all inclusive drinks were served in plastic beakers and only available from the hatch in the pool area even if you were sitting in the main bar. However if you asked for your drink in a glass they would do so (sometimes reluctantly) and serve you in the main bar because glass was not permitted in the pool area. Certain bar tenders were more relaxed about the rules than others but beware the wicked witch from the north! (you will know who I mean when you see her.
I suspect that alot of the bad reviews stem from the way the drinks rules were applied. We just laughed it of and had great time.

Aug 2009, Lyn and Geoff

I booked an All Inclusive holiday with thomson's, accomodatin on arival. We were presented at the hotel Esmarelda Lloret de Mar. We booked in at 1 oclock but was told we could not attend dinner as our meals didnt start till 7 oclock ? The hotel its self was clean and the staff was friendly but definatly need to upgraid to a better system or way of working. I was not pleased with the food selection and what they did offer was not exceptable and the selection of food was very poor. There was no entertainment at all apart from a small radio and played a spanish station. On the first night we went down for a drink at the bar and was told to sit out side as the inside was for paying guests only ((But we have already paid)) so for a week we were alocated out side the very small pool area that consists of 4 small tables in wich 1 had no table top and hard wicker chairs which had holes in the seat to add more discomfort im sure cusion covers are cheap to buy!!!! When we did go for a drink there was a selection of Vodka, Whisky and Larger we did ask for other drinks but was told we were not aloud but it seemed the paying guests got what ever drink they asked for including cocktails etc. we were not aloud to the bar inside the hotel we had to get our drinks from a small serving hatch at the pool side. There were familys there with young children and was horified to learn that in the whole complex there were no cot's or any high chairs and the pool started at 6ft and no childens pool. I meet 3 familys with children that had paid more than the holiday had cost them to get a flight home only days into there holiday.
I would not recomend this hotel to anybody and i have never been to a hotel that wont let you inside the complex for anyreason. and paying for all inclusive we should have had more options as it cost us more.
Apart from that the flights and transfers were very good.

2 adults booked, given a massive room...

2 adults booked, given a massive room which would accommodate 4 adults easily with 2 balconies. Balcony doors can not be opened from the outside due to the locking system, view not so good but given the opportunity of moving if we wanted, declined offer in preference to space. Credit card type key locking system, TV and safe in room, faulty bedside light repaired done within 12 hours of reporting it. A derelict building next door has been demolished, could hear music from numerous clubs/bars in the area but not intrusive or overly loud, didn’t interfere with sleep, bin men arrived at 6 am (the norm for large Spanish resorts who need to service areas overnight).
Reception staff very friendly and helpful, English speaking. Night porter observed checking outside. Room cleaned, sheets changed daily, except Sunday. Maid’s lovely limited knowledge of English but able to work out what we needed.
Dining room catered for Spanish, Russian, French, and German among others - we were the only English people there when we stayed, therefore buffet style menu reflected this. Dining room manager quite surly but other staff made up for that. Bar small, satellite TV and very cheap! Pool area also small but adequate.
Location great, beach 3 minutes away, main centre shops/bars/clubs all round, bus station same distance away as beach, we got a bus back to the airport (8 euros each instead of the 48 the taxi there cost), need to pre book it and takes 35 minutes.
Downside, shabby building and furniture (but adequately clean), food basic (but plentiful). If you want 5 star accommodations, don't go here, you won't get it. But if you want a cheap holiday you get more than you paid for. Would we go back again? Yes it's worth it for the location alone.
