Was put in a ground floor room when requested room with a view, bathroom smelt really bad and the toilet didnt flush, bedroom was like a prison cell, not a room you want to wake up in on a special occasion. finally got moved two nights later, first night in the new room rain got into the door bell at 11:30pm, there was no information on how to call reception, finally got through to reception but receptionist put the phone down on my partner because we didnt speak german, spanish or french.
one of the bar maids was very rude to us.
It felt like we were in germany not on a canary island.
spoilt my 21st birthday anyways.
however food was nice.

This is a superb hotel and the staff ,location and entertainment are great with a few exceptions.
The peacocks that (in the villas area} awaken you every morning as soon as the sun appears 6am,and the mess they can leave behind on the paths
The feral (semi wild ) cats that roam at will about the grounds but mainly in the area of the restaraunt and on occasion in the main reception area, where they seem to use the couches there as their personal loungers.
My 9 year old daughter was bitten bye one of these cats and they did not attempt to remove or do anything about the cat all they asked was does she need a doctor not any sign of apology
The bar at the villas area is lovely and clean and bright and run with german spotless efficiencey by monika(emphasis on the K)especially if you are german ,very cold towards british and can treat them with disdain
Pools are freezing every one

We my partner and I have just had a lovely week at the hotel. We originally booked the apartments which we believed were air conditioned. The second day we were moved to the hotel ( at a cost of 60 Euros ) we had a lovely room with air conditioning. If you are not a cat lover be careful because there are lots of our feline friends around although there is a strict policy on not feeding them
It is a good 10 minutes walk to the beach just watch out for the nudies .The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. The food was excellent offering various cooked meats every night and fresh salad and fruit. The soup was lovely and different every night. The breakfast and lunch choice were excellent. The bar did get very busy at night sometimes there was only one man serving and when the drinks are free you get a lot of people getting irate at having to wait. The animation team were excellent we watched a few of the shows they performed. There is a train that goes around the resort every 15 minutes but this finishes at 19.00 every night. The Zoo was nice but it needed a lot of upgrading but the animals looked well cared for and seemed happy. Beware if you want to change any english money you have to go the bank in the next village as they told us they did not exchange money at the reception when I asked them why they told us they were not allowed!. All in all I would go back again but I will make sure we stay in the hotel this time instead of the apartments

My boyfriend and I went to the Stella Dunas for a winter break in November, we don't like resorts or overpopulated places and we were horrified on arrival to find ourselves on the biggest resort in the canaries.
After the first night (we were left wandering around looking for our room for an hour and must have walked miles) we were totally in love with the place.
The sheer size made exploring fun, the room we had was clean, tidy and spacious and away from the main activities, we choose to walk everyday, instead on taking the mini-tren, as along the way we admired the flowers, stroked the cats, and soaked up the fresh air.
We loved the zoo and must have visited nearly every day, we made friends with wild birds as well as the caged ones! There was a wide variety of shops by the hotel and at that time of year we always managed to find a quiet spot to do a bit of sunbathing.
We will be going back Nov 2008 - Great place!

A very unusual place. Someone there is an animal lover. The place is full of sleek well-fed cats who are all on an all inclusive tarrif with official ad lib feeding points. I met 8 each time I walked to the resturaunt and one shared my balcony. I adore cats but some guests were were uncomfortable with them. Then there are the donkey and the goats - all free range.
The complex is very hilly and unsuitable for people who have trouble getting about. I saw several distressed 'seniors'. A mini train is advertised, but at best it's service is limited and while I was there it was out of action most of the time. Lifts and the funicular were 'out' a lot of the time too.
Food ranged from poor to adequate in quality, but, for those who wanted it, both food and drink seemed limitless. Yes there was pressure at bars occasionally - but you could always move to another if you couldn't wait. Yes they did occasionally run out of some specific drink - but why not try another?
I found the staff unfailingly polite and helpful - even when dealing with difficult customers. They also seemed to really enjoy their work.
To me the entertainment was puerile - but others seemed to enjoy it. The 'animation' team was certainly enthusiastic.
I was there to walk and this is a superb location, with at least three good walks possible from the complex and others a short taxi ride away.

We had a great time at this resort due mainly to the people we met. Staff were pleasant, food was what you normally expect ( not egg and chips all the time thank goodness) but always something you can eat. The entertainment was very very good.
BUT
If you have any walking difficuties however minor this is not the place to go.
To get to the restaurant or to the entertainment place you have to walk up or down very steep banks or steps. There were two lifts apparently to take you from the top to the bottom (to the entertainment or to go out to the shops) but only one lift was working and after two days that stopped too.
When we asked about the lift we were told to use the little train, this operated 9 -1.30 and 4.30 - 7.30 which is limiting.
We went on the Oasis Park trip and really enjoyed it but again no good for anyone with walking difficulties.
As I have said overall we had a good time but would not return here

My husband, my 2 youngest children and I went for 2 weeks from 5th January to 19th January. We had a wonderful holiday. The weather was beautiful it was 25/30 degrees everyday. We had 2 days overcast and 1 night rain, even then it was just a shower. At the bottom of the island it is 5 degrees warmer than at the top of the island.
The complex was a lot bigger than what we thought it was. After a couple of days we had found our way round and it was good. The mini train was a great success when it was running, as there are a lot of stairs from the bottom of the complex to the top of the complex. This may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
The pools were very clean but there was only 1 heated, not that it ever stopped us though. There was a little pool where we were situated and we found it was more suited to us. It was muck cooler than the heated 1 but it didn't bother us.
The whole complex was very clean, the food was good 8/10 and, our rooms were always kept clean. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
The complex is very well situated for all the bars, restaurants and gift shops that are on the front and, the beach is within good walking distance from the front gate of the complex. We were in the sea 3 times and it was warmer than the pools were but, beware of the nudists!!!
The animation team were very good. They entertained us with a different show every night in the Africano bar. We went to Oasis Park for the day and, if you like the zoo it's a good day out for the kids and adults. They have some good shows.
We can't wait to go back again.

My husband and I stayed a week from 28th November till 6th December. I booked the holiday at the last minute, not reading any of the comments. After reading the comments, I had my reservations as they were not very favourable. How wrong they were.
We had the most relaxing, wonderful holiday ever. Yes the resort is big, sorry huge, but we found that a good thing as you felt like you were going for lovely walks every day. We stayed in an apartment that was quite a way from the main activities. We didn't see much by way of daytime entertainment for children, possibly it was at a different part of the resort. We had to pay 5 euros to go into the zoo, which is more like an aviary, but ok.
The food was much better than we expected, as we have stayed in 4* hotels in mainland Spain, and this was better. Steaks, king prawns, lamb chops, tuna steaks, chicken, etc all cooked on the grill in front of you. You could stay a month and still have something different to eat every meal every day.
Maybe it was because of the time we were there, I would say only about a third full. The weather was superb, 28 degrees every day. Fuertevenura is supposed to be the "windy" island, there was a breeze, but was so pleasant. Jandia resort is predominantly German, we only found one English bar, the "Boot and Ball" which was great for us as it showed every English football match and so many screens, there could be 4 different games on at a time, but each one in a different part of the bar, so you could watch your own team without any interruptions.
The resort is about an hour from the airport, but at least you get to see some of the Island. We went to Lanzarote for the day. Booked via one of the German tour operators, as the English, Thomas Cook rep couldn't help!!! It was a very long day, we got picked up at 6.00am and didn't get back till 8.30pm. Would be better if you make your own way, its only 20mins on the ferry, but about 2 hours on the bus. On the down side, the hotel doesn't provide a money change service, and there is only one English speaking channel on the tv, which is CNN news. But all in all we had a fantastic holiday, and can't wait to go back.

Me and my partner have spent 11 nights in this resort. We were looking for a relaxing holiday which also could enable us to catch some sun before the English winter season kicked in.
We struck lucky!
Not only did we get 11 days of 27 degree heat, but we also enjoyed evenings where a short sleeve shirt was the rigour.
Our hotel room was a great size and the balcony (looking over the beach and lighthouse) would not of looked out of place in a P. Diddy video.
The room was well cleaned ever day, which is fantastic as sometimes you can find it hard o shake of the soft, fine, white sand.
The beach at Jandia was from out of a dream. Wide, natural and clean.
Note: Those who are disturbed or put off by the sight of the naked form should beware.
As well as topless, there is a lot of bottom less as well. Most of these naturists coming from Germany, which indeed a lot of holidaymakers in the resort do.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The animation staff have worked their socks off and more often than not hit high standards of theatre/cabaret.
The food is ok. Some people would say better, some worse. But with most HB or AI you can get a bit sick of the food after a while. But overall it was better than just edible and with varied choice.
The work which has been put into making the resort a tropical oasis cannot go unsaid. Peacocks wonder around the resort like it was normal to do so and happy cats and birds do their everyday thing. The flora is colourful and enchanting.
A wonderful little haven.

We stayed here in May, myself, my partner and our 2 children who were 2 and 4 at the time. There was some initial confusion as I thought I had booked an apartment, but we were put in a 2 bedroomed hotel-like room. It was in an apartment block but you walked immediately into a bedroom, where there was another bedroom off it (not kitchen/lounge). We arrived late at night, so took the room. I questioned it at breakfast the next day, and they found us a proper 2 bedroomed apartment which suited our needs better (with the 2 kids).
We had a fantastic time. Lots of pools to choose from, all with slopes in for the little ones, and children’s pools. Each one had its own snack bar where you could get drinks and lunchtime snacks if you didn't want a big meal.
There was some updating going on whilst we were there, but the disruption was minimal and in a resort of this size you have to expect some work to be going on, but it was nothing to complain about.
The food was absolutely excellent. We ate in the main hotel restaurant - I think because we were there out of season this was the only one open for a full meal. There was a big choice of both hot and cold food (even the kids found something they wanted everyday, and it wasn't chips!). The staff were very helpful, always making sure we had a highchair for our son, and cutlery. After a few days they were even going and getting our drinks for us whilst we sorted the kids out.
The resort itself is quite big, but it's not in anyway ugly, there are loads of nice trees and flowers etc. A train goes around the resort most of the day so if you don't want to walk from your apartment to the restaurant or exit then you can just wait for the train. We also used the laundrette which was handy.
In the evening there was a disco for the kids which they loved, and the staff were brilliant. I know there were other things going on for kids, but ours were a bit young so we didn't do anything other than the disco.
All in all we had a brilliant time, and are looking to go again next year.
A few things to bear in mind:
It's a bit confusing to understand what you are booking unless you stay in the hotel; there are many apartment buildings with different facilities so check if it's important to you.
The second room we had was not as new as the first, so I guess for some people it might not have been as nice as expected, but, they were doing the place up, and it was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.
There was no air-conditioning in either room we stayed in, and if the breeze dropped in the evening it was very hot at night, opening windows did let the mosquitoes in.

First morning back (20th sept) and it truly was a wonderful holiday!
The hotel location is very good! The staff are excellent, chefs waiters/waitresses, bar staff, cleaners everybody is excellent!
The animation staff in particular and they work so hard and the entertainment at night is spot on!!
The hotel was spotlessly clean as were the chalets which we had, and the surrounding areas were spotless as well. All in all it was truly fantastic, did not want to leave at all.
I and my partner (Tracey) will definitely be going back...Many thanks to all at the Stella Dunas Jandia Resort Aparthotel. Excellent.

lovely resort. We stayed in the villas, which came as a suprise because when we booked we were told we would be in the hotel. the villas are 3star, hotel 4star. we paid for 4star. there was 7 of us, 22year olds, middle aged and pensioners. we all found that the food was the same every day, very little choice, cold, uncooked on occasion, and we noticed while the resturant was shut, the bread was left out until it opened again!!!.i personally am pretty sure some of it was just covered over in between meal times. the place is full of germans. german signs, german bars, german everything. it doesnt really accomodate for british. despite this the beach was nice and the hotel is surrounded by nice gardens. if your not that bothered about food you will enjoy. staff not overly friendly. receptionists know very little english. there is no hot water in the villa we had to boil a pan up.
