Lovely room (eventually), very central
On arrival (2 minute walk up from the train station) we asked for a room on a high floor and then got put in a room in the building out the back. The room and the whole block was badly decorated and looked after, so we eventually got a room in the front that was also on a high floor. The man working on the desk was so rude to us about this that we fell about laughing (once we got our nice room!) The front building is a much higher standard, the room bigger and much more tastefully decorated. The breakfast was very good and... more
Lovely
Wonderful hotel. Lovely room, location and breaksfast. Just a short walk from the train station.
Good quality & friendly hotel
we stayed at the hotel in September 2006, had an issue finding it as went on the bus from the airport, as all water taxis were on strike when we arrived, if I went again I would go by water taxi, alot easier to find your hotel that way! The hotel staff were very friendly, rooms were amazing, traditional old fashioned rooms with grand high ceilings and decor. view was poor, as we looked out onto another wall, but when you have the beautuiful city of venice on your doorstep who needs a window view! Breakfast was good value and filled you up... more
Excellent stay at the Amadeus
Our family of 4 (11 year old son, 14 year old daughter) stayed here in two adjacent rooms during a brief stay in mid-August. This was everyone's favorite hotel during our two week stay in Europe (paid about $350 for two rooms including breakfast). The rooms were clean, nicely decorated, quiet, and reasonably spacious by European standards. The bathroom was very nice! The hotel was well-run, friendly staff, and a fantastic breakfast was included. We requested a non smoking room, which was ready upon our early arrival (we confirmed the night... more
No 'WOW' factor, but perfectly acceptable
First off I would like to say if you are going to stay here book direct via the hotels website: --- We (myself, 25yrs and my girlfriend, 24yrs - I include our ages to allow you to assess how relevant this review is to you) stayed here for 3 nights early Aug 2006 and it cost £270 GBP including breakfast in a 'classic double'. The hotel was more than comfortable, clean and pleasant but doesnt have that 'x-factor' if you are after somewhere particularly special for say, a honeymoon for e.g or to just impress you other half. Luckily... more
Not more than a 2 star hotel
My friends and I were very disappointed with this hotel. We did some research and this hotel was given a four star rating and some raving reviews but it was much closer to a two star hotel. The hotel is not well maintained or very clean. The furniture is old, stains in the carpets and the air conditioning does't work very well. I do have to say that staff was very courteous and helpful and it's location is conveniently near the train station but if you plan to stay here don't expect better than two stars.
The wonderful Amadeus
I enjoyed my stay at the Amadeus as it was close to good cafe's', the station and the vaparetto stop.. It also served a wonderful breakfast. The staff were excellent and the rooms were well appointed.
The place to stay in Venice
Excellent hotel well situated at the top of the Grand Canal so you can walk there from the Bus or Rail station. Rooms, service and breakfast excellent, spotless linen and bedding in rooms changed every day. It is also the situation of this hotel that also makes it worth recommending. You can get the water bus to anywhere in Venice by either the quick route, No 82, or the No 1 that stops at all stations. All other routes are available from this stop.. You can also walk very easily to Rialto Bridge and on to St Marks through well... more
lovely hotel, would stay here again
we visited this hotel in april 05 and found the hotel to be very good. the location was fine, street outside has nice shops and resturants. i would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good quality hotel without paying 5star prices.
A charming hotel
This hotel was booked for us by a travel agent as a 2 night stay after a cruise so we knew nothing about it apart from it was a 4 star. It is close to water buses and train station but is really central and all the main places of interest are easily accessable by foot. (This is the best way to see Venice) and the street that the hotel is on is really lively with lovely shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful, although on first impressions a bit severe. The room was lovely, big, with a great bathroom with a huge bath and a lovely... more
