Edinburgh is a fantastic place in Scotland with amazing view. The food in there is quite nice. The hotel is cheaper and luxury comfortable and cheaper as well. The best view in Edinburgh is Edinburgh Castle. Otherwise, the old town and new town is quite difference, people... more

Excellent value; good location
I spent 2 nights here just a few days ago and was really impressed. The hotel seems almost brand new; very clean, comfortable, and well-run. The staff were all pleasant, efficient, competent and helpful. I arrived about 4 hours before check-in, and they routinely accept luggage for safe-keeping in a locked room so that you can go on about touring to check in later. Single rate of 60 GBP per night with optional breakfast at 7 GBP included king-sized bed, very spacious room with nice lighting options & all the usual ammenities, and a great shower. (Bed was slightly uncomfortable due to a ridge & slight slope up to the center of the "zipped" twin arrangement. Also be prepared for no top sheet that we usually expect in the US, though staff state that the comforter is washed with sheet at each booking). The hotel itself was very quiet, though with windows open, of course, there was the expected city street-noise, which really was not an issue, even for a Friday night. Location is more realistically stated as within about a 15-20 minute brisk walk to Waverly Station, but buses are plentiful and stops are within a block or two in each direction. Breakfast was excellent and served efficiently. I would definitely return to this hotel, and recommend it without hesitation.
Good value...........but........
Great location and good value....but... we stayed on the first floor facing the back of the hotel and it was very noisy in the mornings. From about 6am there were delivery trucks, bottle collection trucks, laundry trucks all pulling in which continued for at least 2 hours. The noise from this and the reversing beeps of the trucks just drove me mad. No other problems - just check where your room is before you agree to stay.
Great location
Stayed here on 07/12/2005 while attending a Runrig concert at the Usher Hall. Room on fifth floor. £64.95 all in including two full breakfasts. Usherhall just round the corner on Lothian Road. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant/Bar nice and modern. The room had all you needed for a overnite stay. TV, tea/coffee making facilites, king size bed, fan in the room. Nice, clean and modern. Slight noise at front of hotel but not to bad. Nice security feature was that you needed to use a room key to call a lift and that after 23:00 you neede a room key to access reception.
Great spot!
Stayed here for a Christmas shopping weekend because it was cheap and the standard was totally reliable, just like most Travel Inns. The place was spotless, the room was large and comfortable and the breakfast was great. It's located just off the Grassmarket with all it's fabulous bars and an easy walk on down to Prince's Street. It's not a five star hotel but it's more than acceptable for a weekend away.Highly recommended.
