Jul 2008, Miss K Carver

I’ve just returned from a 5 day trip to nice staying at Beau Rivage. The hotel was very disappointing to say the least. I’ve no idea how they have a 4 star rating, as neither the décor nor the service are past 2 star in my opinion. The bathroom was covered in... more

Really nice hotel, good location with helpful staff, the breakfast was fine something to suit everyone. Our flights were with Easyjet which weren’t just as nice as they cancelled our return flight at the last minute & told us to find ourselves a hotel at 10.30pm and that... more

Good hotel and location- But beware the extra prices
Lovely hotel but not an average 4star hotel. On arrival the reception staff were fine not very friendly. When we got to our room (we arrived at 1pm and had to wait til 3pm for our room) it was really nice and modern. Except we discovered that if we lost our beach towel pass it was a 40euros charge and in the minibar, a bottle of champagne 375ml bottle was 30euros!!!! You can imangine what the rest of the minibar is like! As for the hotel bar, it is 11euros for a bottle of beer!!! Also, breakfast is 22euros per person, and if you want to go... more
'Would you like that? It costs extra' is the motto of this hotel
Yes the beaurivage is equiped with the finest amenities but for a price that is not included in the cost of the room. The private beach is exclusive to those who want to pay for it as well as everything else. The location is excellent and the beds are plush but this hotel is not the best value in Nice. Like many things on the beautiful cote d'azur, it is all about the image. Even the staff seem to think they are working in the most posh hotel in France and their attitudes reflect this. Unless you get a good deal on the nightly rate, go... more
reasonable hotel, nothing special
Things got off to quite a nice start at this hotel. The room was small but clean and modern. As we were travelling on a budget we found Nice to be expensive so we had very little spare money to spend. This brings me to my main gripe which was the beach. This hotel is sold to you with a private beach.... however be prepared to pay €14 for each sunbed! (even at 3pm, no half price beds even at this time) This is something we didn't want to do so we just took the complimentary towels and laid them on the pebbled beach. No problem so far until... more
Pretty good
As the other reviews have commented, this hotel is in a great location if you want to go to the beach or visit the Old Town. It's about a 20 minute walk to the train station and about a 10 minute walk to the bus station. I had a courtyard room. But, unfortunately there was always a loud humming/motor noise in the evening if I kept the window open. Needing sleep, I'd turn on the ac and close the window. When I first arrived, there was one person at the front desk dealing with someone's bill, who never even acknowledged me. I... more
Not worth it and take an iron!
Have just returned from 3 nights at the Beau Rivage in Nice (jun23rd to 26th 2005). I am rather surprised at the good reviews it has on this site, I was even tempted to give it 1 star rather than 2. Before I go on about my stay, first remember this is a 4 star hotel and is not exactly cheap. Positive points: The hotel is in a good location close to the beach and old town of Nice. The private beach is nice (although you are charged for everything but a free rather feeble beach towel) but after an early flight to Nice the beach was just... more
Well located, really a Nice design!
The hotel is really well located just at 1 min from the sea and at 5 min from the old town. You can walk from the train station (it takes about 20min) or you can take a cab for about 16 euro. The room design is really great and the all the details (decoration inside the hotel, access for a laptop, easy outlets access to recharge your camera, $ access to the beach) make this hotel a good choice. Downside: The room was facing a club and it was really noisy between 2:00AM and 3:00AM (closing). People were yelling a lot. I would... more
Best location in Nice
The only reason this hotel doesn't get an Excellent review is because of the noise issue at night. We had a room on the side of the hotel and one of our 3 nights was quite noisy. Besides that blip, I couldn't recommend this hotel high enough. The rooms were great. A bit smallish but well worth the £100 we paid per night. The staff were all terrific and couldn't do enough for you. We chose not to eat in the hotel because of the terrific amount of choice which is literally outside your doorstep. If you want to be near the Old Town,... more
Good Hotel and location but noisy
We stayed at the Beau Rivage for 4 nights at the end of May 2005. The reviews on Trip Advisor helped us to choose this hotel over other ones in Nice. The hotel is very well located, clean, modern and stylish - it was completely revamped in 2004. The main problem we found with the hotel was the noise. We asked for a quiet courtyard facing room but there were none so we got a room facing onto the side street which was better than the main road facing rooms but the side street had a night club located on it and this was very noisy late... more
Great Little hotel
We have just returned from a great weekend at the Beau Riavage. For the price we really thought our room was great. Americans might find it a bit small, but for European standards was very nice and fitted out in a contempory style. The service is good, but you are not paying for a five star deluxe hotel so I wouldn't expect anymore. I would definitly stay here again and reccomend it to everyone. By the way there is a great restaurant near the hotel called La Petit Maison, but book as it is very popular.
Snobby noisy - good location
The reception is a very impressive modern contempory entrance, however the seating is tired and needs to be updated to carry off the ambience. The room was small and overlooked the street, which was UNBELIEVABLY noisy through the night. Especially when the garbage men came or when restaurants were emptying out all their rubbish and glass bottles- at all hours. We requested to move twice, but was denyed. The bathroom was nice and clean with comfy bed. The inhouse movies were not working for two of our three night stay. The mini bar was... more
