" stayed at the sorra daurada hotel for... "

stayed at the sorra daurada hotel for a week and the hotel was clean and tidy.but and it is a big but this hotel is not for the english it seem to be popular with spanish french and dutch.
the food was a big let down even if you got there early the food was luke warm at best.
the entertainment is aimed at the spanish and french. the walls in the hotel are paper thin we could hear the man in the next room talking in his sleep.malgrat is a nice place with its roots firmly in the 70`s if you go down the road santa susanna is much nicer wish we had stayed there instead.

" The Hotel Sorra Daurada all in all is... "

The Hotel Sorra Daurada all in all is a very nice hotel. The food was very good and the menu each evening was different and varied, with plenty of fish, meat, salad, fruit and breads to choose from - we ate like kings and enjoyed dinner every night - although we had to buy our own drinks with dinner. The hotel has entertainment on every evening, which is great for children and adults alike with an airconditioned bar with very reasonable prices for drinks and snacks. There is also a pool side bar for snacks and drinks, however, the pool area itself is not very large and it is quite crowded even with only 3 or 4 families round it.

The hotel staff were very friendly, spoke excellent English and helpful. The rooms, even though very very basic were cleaned daily with fresh towels - I have stayed in 4+ star resorts where fresh towels are not replaced daily! I have to say thought that the airconditioning was pointless.

I have given the holiday a 6 out of 10 simply because the hotel at the moment is slap bang in the middle of a building site. Our room (as most of the rooms at the hotel) didn't have a sea view, it overlooked a hotel complex being built and a huge crane. We were abruptly awakened every morning at 7am when the drilling, digging and banging started from the site. If we had booked the hotel through a major travel agent rather than independently I would have certainly demanded compensation. My guess is they won't have finished building before the summer season 2009 - so keep this in mind if you are thinking of holidaying in Malgrat as the Sorre D'Ore and Mariposa hotels (both also very nice) are affected by this building work too.

Malgrat itself is a little boring. There isn't much to do there. We were holidaying there in the height of the season as a couple and I think we saw a maximum of 2 nice bars in the whole resort. There are a few 'English bars' but they were dark and dingy - and lets face it, you can stay at home for that. There didn't seem to be anything for children to do during the day either and it is definitely not a place I would bring my family.

Even though the Sorra Daurada hotel boasts being a sea front hotel, it isn't quite that. As you exit the main hotel doors you are straight on to the main road, cross that and you actually have to walk under the train track which runs the whole length of the coast to get to the beach! This is a pain for toilet facilities etc, which there are non near the beach unless you spend money in one of the beach cafes and use theirs.

The beach is made of a shale type gravel too. The kind you find in the bottom of a fish tank, which is very uncomfortable to walk on, and it also makes the sea near impossible to wade in. I love to walk along the beach in the evening, but you can forget that here. The plus side to this though is there is no sand anywhere! Non in your hair, stuck to your sun creams or in your sheets at night!

All in all I would personally save my money and spend it going somewhere else. It's not all that cheap to get to or stay in Malgrat, Blanes or Santa Susanna, so personally I would stick to Costa Dorada, Costa Blanca or Costa Del Sol, all of which have beautiful white sandy beaches and REAL beach front hotels.

" We stayed in the Sorra Daurada Hotel... "

We stayed in the Sorra Daurada Hotel for 1 week on a half board basis with the East Riding Youth Orchestra and we had a brilliant time. The food was very Spanish and there was something new everyday to eat. The rooms were very comfortable and were in a very good condition. The Hotel is situated in a very good place for the town, beach and train station. The rooms were a bit on the "small side" but overall I had a great time at the Sorra Daurada.

" I stayed 8 nights at Sorra Daurado.... "

I stayed 8 nights at Sorra Daurado. The Hotel was very clean. Rooms were cleaned daily.

Food was a bit of a letdown but let’s face it my holiday was very cheap, in fact I paid more for a two night stay with breakfast in a dingy 3 star B&B in York, England.

Some great eating and drinking places nearby, Barcelona was an hour away. Had a good holiday on a budget of less than £500.

" This hotel was a high standard and... "

This hotel was a high standard and had very good service throughout our stay.

It was very welcoming, the staff were also very well mannered and polite.

The rooms were nicely sized and well presented. The maids came promptly each morning to make the beds and change towels etc..

The view from our apartment was stunning as we over looked the beach front.

The food was different each day as each night was themed with food from different countries. There was always something for everyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in this hotel and definitely would go there again.

" Good value for money. Food was a good... "

Good value for money. Food was a good selection. Rooms on the small side but have everything you need. Bar prices in hotel good value. Staff very helpful.

Malgrat is a beautiful place and a good base for seeing other places, public transport good value and cheaper than uk, and not to difficult to use.

Overall very good value for money and will be going again. Give the Rovers Return and Robin Hood a try, friendly english bars, showing all the soaps, football matches and a warm welcome.

" My family of four, enjoyed four days... "

My family of four, enjoyed four days of an eight day 'two centre' holiday at Hotel Sorra Dorada. We had two rooms next to each other overlooking the sea, the rooms were clean, well serviced each day and well maintained.

For three days we seemed to be the only British in the hotel but felt comfortable with the mainly Spanish holidaymakers. Entertainment each evening was there if you wanted to stay in, the Flaminco was very entertaining and musical acts were good.

I must say I was very impressed with the quality of the food, especially at dinner. Buffet style can sometimes be repetitive and not very special but the buffets were varied, hot food was hot and changed regularly and salads were great so I recommend the dinner, if you can get to breakfast early and beat the crowds that is much better.

I recommend the hotel if you don't want English fish and chips, english pubs etc and like to mix with Spanish other nationalities as well as fellow Brits.

The waiting staff and reception staff were great and very professional so we all agree we would be very happy to return.

" My Family and I have been going to... "

My Family and I have been going to Malgrat for around 8 years now and I have to say we absolutely love it!

The Hotel Sorra Daurada is fabulous. It looks very inviting from the outside and I think even better inside. The leather seating area is great to relax just after a meal or deciding what drinks to get from the indoor bar

The marble floors and walls makes the hotel look spotlessly clean and inviting. The staff are brilliant and nothing is to much for them. If you go on a day trip, they will even do you a packed lunch which consists of an apple, an orange, some bread and butter, eggs, meat and biscuits and occasionally jam! Good eh?!

The entertainment of a evening is similar from week to week, usually including some flamenco dancers and a few other shows. The last I heard, our favourite singer Mike Trevor know longer sings at the hotel which is a great loss because he to was brilliant from year to year. Don’t be afraid to take part in a spot of flamenco dancing, there’s a chance you will get dragged up and get involved. There is also bingo of an afternoon.

The rooms are spotless but slightly basic which doesn’t really matter because you don’t spend much time in them.

Its right in the center of the new part of Malgrat and a maximum of 2 minute walk to the very sweet old part of Malgrat.

The beach to is beautiful and if you have the chance, go and say hello to Paco who owns a little bar on the beach opposite the hotel. He will definitely make you welcome and may even join you in a game of crazy golf or pool!

Overall Malgrat and the Sorra Daurada is brilliant I would recommended it to anybody. Families or teenagers. The arcades and fairs entertain the kids whilst the pubs and clubs keep the adults happy!

Definitely worth going to, even on the coach, a lot cheaper! And you get 17 days at the resort!

Hayley from Birmingham.

" My wife and I had a wonderful... "

My wife and I had a wonderful 'Honeymoon' at 'The Sorra Daurada Hotel' from 15 - 30th September. The accommodation was 'what we had expected' as specified in the brochure (Siesta Travel UK Ltd.), the staff at the hotel were very helpful (nothing was too much trouble).

The meals were 'Buffet Style' e.g. Breakfast - a choice of 2 cereals, fruit juices (2), tea or coffee, sausage/bacon/fried or scrambled egg, assorted breads (sliced, rolls etc.) to toast if desired, yoghurts etc., fresh fruit ( apples, peaches, oranges, melon slices, banana’s etc usually ), Evening meals were an assortment of starters - soup/rolls, main meal - Fish/Chicken/Pork dishes with a choice of vegetables, rices or Couscous, desserts - cakes, ice creams (individual pots), rice pudding, creme caramel, fresh fruit (apples, peaches, oranges, melon slices, banana’s etc usually), water - wines - beers at reason-able prices. There were 'Activities' during the day, 'Entertainment' on a night time within the hotel grounds. Siesta Travel had a regular rep. visit the hotel on a regular basis ( or could be 'easily' contacted ) who advised 'Guests' of local Attractions, Sites or Daytrips etc., security advice ( pick- pockets etc. ). The weather was very comfortable 25 - 30 degrees.

The beach was a short distance from the hotel, it was kept clean, lifeguard stations at regular points. The Rail-way Station was nearby (very reasonable prices), the local bus service (Pujol) was regular, reasonable prices, helpful drivers, clean buses.
