This is a very large hotel. 450 odd rooms. Ours was great. Very big, on suite of course. The large door to the balcony was ill fitting and as it was quite windy last week, there was an awful lot of wind noise whistling around our room. The food is quite good, if a... more

On arrival (7am) we were a bed short in our bungalow. Within 5mins there was another brought to our room and made up, no problem. The room’s decor is a bit dated but they were cleaned every day and our maids were great. Air conditioning in the hotel rooms is better than... more

Awful....
The only good thing about our holiday was the weather and the beach was nice, staff are very friendly but apart from that the hotel is awful if you do go dont stay in a bungalow we had to move 3 times they are very small and dirty, the restaraunt is dirty and the food is awful, if you like to have a sunlounger be prepared to get up at 7oclock to get one. if i was you id look at a different hotel, i would rate this hotel at a 2*
Fantastic resort / fantastic people / fantastic hotel
My friend and I stayed at the Club Kantaoui fro 29th July 2007 to 5th August 2007 and wished we had stayed for longer. Port El Kantaoui is beautiful. The El Mouradi Club Kantaoui was amazing, we stayed in a bungalow which was spacious enough and spotlessly clean with maids coming in daily to change sheets and towells. The beach was very very clean and the sea very calm and roped off in areas to keep swimmers and motor boats separated. The food provided in the hotel was abundant and catered for everyones tastes. The pools were very clean and lifeguards were evident both around the pool and along the beach so extremely safe for small children. The staff were friendly and could not be more helpful and accommodating if they tried. I full recommend this resort and hotel to single, couples and families. 10 out of 10 for this trip and I will definitely be going back!!!!!
Great Staff and so relaxing
We arrived July 15th and I have to say there were very few brits staying in the hotel. All the staff couldnt be more helpful and although the food was not to my taste I could always eat something and it was well prepared. The room was cool and comfortable, not far from the beach and the pools were never to crowded. The evening entertainment was very 'european' but we got up and did karoke (not very well admittedly). We made some great friends and anyone that wants to go away and just relax in the sun. This is the place to go. If your up for it do the beach party on a friday night, what an experience.
Hotel Okay
We have just returned from two weeks at the El Mouradi Hotel Club Kantaoui. There were 10 of us in total which included four children aged 13,10,10,6. The kids i have to say really enjoyed their stay and would be quite happy to go back but to be fair once they have good weather and swimming pools and meet friends they dont really care what country they are based. We really are not the type of family to complain and between the 10 of us at different stages we have travelled quite a bit to various countries. So when i mention the bad points i must underline that i am not whinging this is just the way things are. The food was totally crap in the hotel, they catered mostly for Eastern European's, therefore if you like cabbage and carrots for your brekkie then your laughin!! However there are other options for breakfast like pancakes but the problem with the food was throughout the two weeks the menu never changed and everything tasted the same....totally bland!!! Outside this hotel there arent really any restauants that i could recommend to saying yep you'l get great food there. The weather is amazing over there and the hotel is on the beach which is perfect. You must tip all the time if you want to get looked after however saying that i dont think if you pay for all inclusive this should be the attitude. The staff are on very low wages so a few Dinar a night in the restaurant gets the wine flowing very smoothly!! There is not alot to see and do in Tunisia however myself and my partner went on the Sahara trip for two days and this was worthwhile. I think it made the holiday for us. The entertainment was brutal but we did have a laugh over it...and all the millions of camcorders and camera's that flashed at the tinest movement... Good point we found that it was very secure and safe for children ... We really had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday but unfortunatley there was nothing to make us think that we would like to return.
Awful. Never again
The worst hotel I have ever been. Everything was awful. The best day in my vacation was departure from this hotel.
Good hotel, shame about the food
From day one we had problems with the hotel. To start with the first room they gave us was on the 2nd floor with no lft working after we specically asked for either a lift or ground floor room. However, this was resolved the next day and we were moved to a ground floor room, which was lovely and clean and as it was at the front of the hotel it was reasonably quiet. As for the food, one word awful. The first day they served lots of fish, rabbit and veal, no normal food. After that it was fish, fish and some turkey (which was questionable, very large bones). Every time you went into the resturant it smelt like fish even at breakfast and that was so off puttng. I have never eaten as much pasta and chips as I did in that week. Also, I hope your not too thirsty as you can expect a long wait at the bar as there is generally only 1 person serving and there were over 1000 guests when we were there. They also closed the inside bar during the day in the second week when there were clearly more guests then the week before. Also, there was the occasional smell of sewage that would drift on by when you were beside the pool but the pool was fine and so was the beach so don't know where that was comjing from. In terms of guests watch out for the Germans, French and Russians as they do not know how to queue and the kids are the worst, they just barge straight the front then there parents wil come also and cut in too. However, there were some good points, the staff are on the whole lovely and friendly but they do expect tips and you will get better service with them. The pool and grounds were lovely and the beach is very close. Also there were plenty of sunbeds both by the pool and on the beach. Hope this has given you an idea of what the hotel is like in the busy season but if ou have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Hotel Clean - Food Awful!
Having stayed at the Marhaba Beach in Sousse five weeks ago - another four star hotel - I thought saving the quite considerable difference in trip price would be a coup! After all - four star is four star isn't it? Big mistake! My husband, myself and our three children (11, 8 and 6) are big fans of food - and the other reviewers on this hotel are spot on. The food is more like a poor Butlins buffet than a four star hotel. The lunch food is IDENTICAL to the evening food and every night without fail it consisted of : chips, spag bol, plain pizza, several different bowls of shredded salad (tomatoes seemed to be in short supply), rice, sloppy mashed potato, plain pasta, soggy carrots, cauliflower, spinach or cabbage, tough beef cassarole (goat?) and spiced chicken pieces. If you're really lucky - they might change the CHICKEN for TURKEY one night! For pudding - every single night, without change, watermelon pieces and hard peaches (that you weren't allowed to take out of the restaurant to allow to ripen in your room!) small squares of weird iced cake - maybe a couple of tubs of ice-cream for which there was always a huge queue - and once or twice - some sort of sloppy butterscotch angel delight type plop. Quite honestly, I've never been so disappointed in the food in a hotel - of ANY star rating, let alone a supposedly higher class of hotel! The breakfast (pah!) started at 6.30 but if you want a pancake or fried egg cooked, you had to wait till 8.15! There were vats of waterlike scrambled egg and some hard boiled eggs that were raw on one side and overcooked on the other. Bowls of leftover veg from the night before - (cabbage and carrot for BREAKFAST?) - and croissants. Sorry if I sound like a whinger, but usually, I'm quite easy to please with a bit of good nosh. I didn't find ANY at this hotel and for the last couple of lunches we resorted to eating outside the hotel at cost, even though we were paid up all inclusive. Be prepared to wait fifteen minutes for a drink at the bars, and dont be suprised when the Russian guests push in front of you and immediately get served at the front of the queue! Infuriating! Ask for a bottle of water at one minute to ten? You are made to wait there for 60 seconds by the surly bar staff. All inclusive doesn't seem to equate with good service in tip dependant Tunisia. People dont tip, when they're not paying for something! A please or thank you was practically unheard of from the guests other than French and English too, which I think was disgraceful. The other niggle is all the things you have to pay a deposit for. Towel? 10 Dinar (4 quid) each. TV Remote? 15 Dinar (6 quid each) Air conditioning remote? 15 Dinar (6 quid each) and all the sports equipment at least 10 Dinar a piece. Because the Dinar is a closed currency, you cannot take it out of the country and you get a very poor rate of exchange when you try to change it back at the airport, beware of suddenly being landed with 80 Dinars on the last day (30 odd quid) which you wont spend when you're all inclusive! A small tip every night to the restaurant waiter (1-2 Dinars '40-80p') ensured our glasses were never empty but you can go for a 'gala dinner' downstairs once during your weeks stay - what a joke! It was the same food from UPSTAIRS - but they brought it to you in four courses already plated up! When they came out with a bowl of watermelon and hard peaches for dessert, I couldn't help myself, I actually laughed out loud and said "enough's enough, lets go back to the room!". There are also NO bath mats in this large hotel. To my sons misfortune he discovered how slippery the bottom of the bath was when he went over and split his chin open, landing me with a mega-upset little 6 year old, three butterfly stitches and a 90 Dinar Doctors bill. Put a hotel towel in the bottom of the bath - although this still slips around when it gets soaked unfortunately. Just be careful! Our room was a good 10-15 minutes walk through copious amounts of corridors and stairs from the main reception and restaurant, so if you're put in the 800-1000 block - take good hiking shoes! So was it ALL bad? No - the hotel itself is very clean, with hordes of cleaning ladies around (some of whom would be better put to work in the bars to reduce the queues!) and the rooms are large and air conditioned. They all have little balconies and chairs and a table. Do the zulu trip to Frigiua Park (animal park) where you get a five course meal during a two hour tunisian and zulu dancing show, (the only good meal I had on this holiday!), two hours walking round the park with lions and tigers, camels, deer etc. Its FANTASTIC value at around £20 per adult and £10 per child - I would gladly have paid twice the price. I wouldn't recommend our hotel though, even if my son hadn't hurt himself there because of the dreadful catering. Tunisia? Yes! This area? Yes! But not this hotel! Use Trip Advisors reviews and go for one of the top five hotels in ANY area you are staying in. It's just not worth saving a few quid sometimes!
El Mouradi Club Experience
HI just returned from a week at the El Mouradi Club. We arrived on the 20th May for a week. We arrived at reception at 2am and checked in, I had my 2 year old daughter and my sister with us who has special needs, after a delayed flight and an hour waiting to go through immigration we were all tired and thirsty. I asked the man at reception if it would be possible to get a drink, coffee, pop, water anything to be informed that we couldnt have one. Which was a lovely start to the holiday. The porter took our cases to our rooms, only to find that the cot which i had ordered for our room was not there, i had previously emailed and called the hotel twice to reqest a cot. The rooms were quite spacious but no air conditioning which we later found out does not get switched on until the 1st June. Overall the hotel is quite pleasant but does cater for eastern europeans more as it was full of Russians and Germans. This showed in the food served. Carrots and cabbage were amongst the items served for breakfast. The food sadly was a big let down and it was like a cattle market trying to get your food at mealtimes. There are some other major letdowns for this hotel, No babychange facilities in any of the toilets, No kettle or drinks near the rooms so you need to walk to the main area to get a drink which is hard when your 2 year old is fast asleep at 9pm and you have no chance of a drink until the following morning. Youcannot get a tea or coffee before 9am at the bars unless you go to the main dining room and then you are not allowed to bring cups out. The Pools are very good and the childrens pool was brilliant for my youngest daughter. The lifeguards parole the pool. The beach is also lovely only thing lacking was the food down there and choice of drinks its only water, or pop. The staff were very friendly and they have a photographer who goes round taking pictures and charges 5 dinars about £2. The kids club i found terrible, one of the reasons we booked this hotel was the kids clubs. They were really non existant, apart from archery and a few games in morning like darts where it was mostly adults it was rubbish there was a nightly mini disco at 8.30 every evening for half an hour but the man who ran it hardly spoke english and it was mostly conducted in german or french. The kids did enjoy but this was due to the swimming pool and beach where the pedaloes are free. We took a taxi to Port el Kantaoui which costs around 4 dinars from a taxi which are waiting outside the hotel. Its lovely there as long as you dont mind being asked at every shop to go and have a look, but they were all friendly. We took a 2 hour trip on the catamaran for 20 dinars each less than £10 and saw the dolphins. So overall a good holiday, hotel food and entertainment a big let down and this is definately no 4 star hotel. But if you are happy losing a stone and relaxing by the pool or beach its fine. I would not like to go in high season as it was getting busy just as we left and couldnt get a seat to sit on. It really is like a cattle market when its busy. This hotel is ok if you have booked a last minute cheapy but no way would I pay holiday brochure prices for it. If any one would like more details of the holiday, eg. where the supermarket is, whats included etc.. drop me a line
loved tunisia
date 28th May I have just returned from club Kantaoui where we spent 2 weeks all inclusive. The hotel it;sself is alright but the food is very boring with the same thing every meal time. You had the same for lunch as you did for evening meal, it;s the first time i,ve been offered carrots cabbage for breakfast. Also there wasalways long queues at the bars ,so i would reccomend to anyone thinking of going to get 2 drinks at a time. But Over all Tunisia is a nice place i would reccomend the 2day safari as it was well worth the money it was excellent i
must read true report from mark, ellis, patrik
Mark Ellis and Patrik Me(43) and my wife(28) and son(6) got our Holliday through justsunshine.com we went all inclusive and paid £625 and went on the 16 may 2007 - 23rd. So we read up on some reports, but I was glade I didn’t take any notice. I will start with the bad points: There are only a couple minor points. which are. there are not enough bar staff to serve you . And when I went to get an ice cream I was told I had to pay 4d before 2pm which I thought was bad for all inclusive. The only other thing I thought was really poor was the evening entertainment but all in all they did try very hard as the team did this all by them self. There was some professional entertainment like a belly dancer which was ok but in my opinion then hotel should spend a bit more here to improve it. The good points: With just sunshine is was very easy from start to finish. We was meet at the airport and went strait to our hotel El Mouradi club. We was meet at the door, we got our key and our bags were taken to our room. We stayed in the hotel which had. a very big room and very clean . The room smelt very fresh too, our room looked over the pool area. There are 5 pools one inside which I did not use so I cant comment on but there are two small children’s pools .50m deep about 24ft sq and one pool that starts shallow to deep and the other pool was deep from one end to the other. all pools had lots of sun bed so there was always somewhere to sunbath the beach area was kept very clean as all inclusive you could get food and soft drinks from the beach bar but no beer you had to get it from the hotel bar and take it with you but that was ok. I would like to point out that the bungalows did look from the outside a bit like a prison but I was told they are big and clean but more basic than the hotel rooms. Food: Well I can say that if you don’t want to get fat don’t go there. There was food till 1am you start with breakfast till 10am then late breakfast till 11am and if you miss that they then start serving rolls and pizza by the pool and at the beach. then abut 1pm they do cake and biscuits till about 3pm then the other bar opens and you start eating pop corn, candy floss, ice cream, pancakes this stops about 5 now you get a brake from food, well that is till 6pm then you start again with dinner we stayed for 7 nights and found something new every day. if you miss dinner you can go into the other restaurant to eat till late you can even get a late snack there from 12am till 1am The food was very good. Out and about.: We went to sosse it was ok we did get feed up with the hassle from shop people say come in and haggle over stuff you can buy we stayed about 3hrs in the medina that was enough for us I would say that you should go there and see, if you don’t mind the hassle. Also my wife got feed up with her bum being touched up they are very friendly people and touched my son a lot to which I was not sure if I trusted them. The other place we went to was el jem we got a white taxi and was told it would be 80d I was a bit worried at first encase the taxi driver left us there but he was very good for 80d e got half a day private tour he showed us different places on the way and told us a lot of information on the way he took us to the Roman colosseum he waited outside for us for about 2hrs then took us to a museum on the way home he took us to see and get us some fresh almonds which to my surprise he got us big bag full which he paid for I would recommend this way to travel as the tour operators wanted 37d each so we would have paid 111d jut to get there and back. markdlane@hotmail.co.uk
