My family and I just visited this hotel and I must say we had a very nice holiday and the place is perfect for kids. Hotel really needs a good face lift but must say that everywhere is kept clean and you see people cleaning all the time even at night. Get prepared to put on a few kilos while you're there. The food is nothing out of this world but there is plenty to eat and everyone will find something that they like. If you are on all inclusive you can eat and drink as much as you like all the time. The restaurant staff are fantastic, tip the waiter on the first night there and be sure to get first class treatment for the rest of your stay. Entertainment is good especially for the kids and all the staff are really friendly with the kids. Last but not least I must mention the staff at reception, they are very rude and not helpfull at all. My family and I booked 3 bungalos and on arrival we were given 3 bungalos really far from each other. I tried to tell them that we needed the rooms to be closer to each other but they just shrugged and ignored me. On the last day we wanted to keep the room for a few more hours at an extra cost but they rudely told us the hotel was full and we had to leave the rooms with 3 small kids at 12. I tried to explain that we had a long night ahead travelling and the kids needed to sleep in the afternoon but they ignored me. Very Rude. To conclude I want to say that apart from the staff at reception everything else was very good and will go back.

I took my mother on holiday for a week. Both me and my mother were treated very well. I enjoyed my holiday immensely. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel room was large, clean, ensuite and cleaned each day by the maids. The food range was extensive and quite tasty too. I was impressed with the quality of hygiene in the restaurant. The indoor pool was quite large and a joy to swim in. The outdoor pool was massive. The beach is at the rear of the hotel. The beach and sea appeared very clean to me. I spoke to a number of tourists from Belgium, Germany, Spain and offcourse from England, i heard nothing but praise for the hotel from everyone. Some of the older folk told me that they had been returning to the hotel during each the last six or seven years. I was able to pursue my horse riding hobby by enagaging in a three hour horse ride after breakfast most days, before returning to have lunch with mum and then taking her on excursions in the afternoon, returning to the hotel for swim before dinner and then after sitting through with mum to watch the hotel's evening entertainment which was ok. I would then head for the night clubs leaving mum to rest.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any visitor. I stayed in a hotel room in the main building accordingly i have no knowledge what the bungalows are like. You have to venture out to Sousse for the night clubs during off peak periods or Hotel Hanibal Palace. The night life gets going around 11.45pm onwards. I am planning to return with my wife in june this year.

This is a very large hotel. 450 odd rooms. Ours was great. Very big, on suite of course. The large door to the balcony was ill fitting and as it was quite windy last week, there was an awful lot of wind noise whistling around our room. The food is quite good, if a little boring. Waiting staff are very efficient and friendly. Cleaning staff are great. Rooms were always very clean.
The only problem we had was in the bar. All inclusive guests, even though they have paid in advance for all food and drinks, are treated by some, as inferior people. This at times, was very unpleasant. Spoiling what was otherwise a lovely week at a nice hotel.

On arrival (7am) we were a bed short in our bungalow. Within 5mins there was another brought to our room and made up, no problem.
The room’s decor is a bit dated but they were cleaned every day and our maids were great. Air conditioning in the hotel rooms is better than in the bungalows, and from what I saw there’s more room too. Be aware that 5 star in Tunisia doesn’t necessarily equal 5 star in Europe.
There were 6 of us travelling and no-one could complain about the staff. They were all very pleasant and helpful. A 1dinar (40p) tip once in a while works wonders, especially at the pool bar where the queue can be a bit chaotic. The barman will look out for you.
Food was fine. We all ate very well. Snacks round the pool in the afternoon include ice cream, filled rolls, pizza and pancakes. If you fancy a change from the hotel food, PEK is a very short taxi journey away. Plenty of restaurants with fancier menus.
Entertainment is fun and family orientated. Shows every night but does sometimes look a little bit amateurish and the performers seem to be going through the motions at times. Beach party and Tunisian night are good. 27TD (under £11) for buffet dinner, unlimited wine and entertainment. Disco on the beach after the beach party. Forget about the mini golf.
In PEK itself, if you’re shopping, wait till you're closer to the marina as the shopkeepers around the fountains at the entrance are relentless. Be careful or you could end up spending a fortune. Just be polite and firm.
There are a couple of supermarkets opposite Sol Club where you can do your souvenir shopping with fixed prices. This will give you an idea of what you should be paying when you go to PEK.
I really enjoyed staying here. A lovely complex with a relaxing, easy going atmosphere and brilliant friendly staff. I would love to go back.

I advise you to never go to this hotel. My family and I moved to another hotel after 2 days because we couldn't stand the sight of this hotel.
On the other hand the good points of Port El Kantaoui are the fabulous beaches, the water sports available, the free use of the pedalos, kayaks and wind surfing equipment, the cheap taxis (if you tell them to reset the meter before you leave) and the friendliness of the local people.
If you are planning a holiday in Tunisia I recommend Port El KAntaoui, but not this despicable hotel.

After 30 years of travelling around the world, the last ten years with my children who have visited Tunisia, Ibiza, Grand Canaria, Turkey, America and Kenya, I can honestly say this is the worst hotel we have ever experienced.
We booked a bungalow in the grounds of the hotel on half board basis. It was similar to a nuclear fall out shelter, dark, smelly and small. The TV fell off of its shelf onto my son on day one, the fridge door would not stay shut and the air conditioning worked if it felt like it. Star rating - maybe a 2 at best.
My daughter, who is 10, eats anything. She has never been a problem and we were confident she would enjoy the half board basis. Her description of the food was 'pig swill' and that sums it up. If you could tolerate the regular battle with Russians, Germans, Italians, Poles and French who had no idea what a line meant, you faced partially cooked, cold food with flies crawling over it.
My daughter ended up with food poisoning for a week, my son, aged 9, lived on bread and chips and we decided to eat out after two days of hell. We mentioned the problems to the staff who suggested we move to another hotel because they were sick of people moaning - 56 guests complained in one day.
I even complained to Mr Mohammed, the General Manager who sat in his office, picking his nose, telling me that hygiene was important and he would come back to me within hours. Never heard from him again.
We went into Sousse for a day to get away from the stink of the drains around the pool. My wife was touched up by a young Tunisian boy, my daughter was forced to pay £4 for a piece of rubbish that would have cost 20p at Blackpool and she ended up in tears. The locals have no manners, the put pressure on you, on children, on women, anyone they can screw money out of. One guy tried to sell me a belt for £75 and got offensive when I laughed and walked away.
This was our third visit to Tunisia. We went back because we all enjoyed our last visit, five years ago. We knew what to expect and just feel that it has deteriorated beyond belief. The hotel is terrible, the food vile, the facilities limited, the staff rude to being offensive and everything is double the normal price because you are English.
My advice - don't consider going here. Book to go to Turkey, it's cleaner, the people are nicer, more variety in the food and you can trust these people, they don't cheat you, they don't lie about everything. Not something you can say about Tunisia. Sorry - I hate to say bad things but be warned this is a terrible hotel, poorly run and not worth the money.

After reading conflicting reviews online about this hotel I was rather nervous about this years holiday. Now I am back home I can report that in fact every review I read was correct. The fact of the matter is for every good point about this hotel there was a bad point.
THE ROOM
The room was larger than I had expected but the decor was slightly out dated (I looked in lots of rooms as we walked through the hotel and they were all identical). The view from the balcony was okay but if you had a room on the lower floor the view would have been completely obscured by trees. The maids we very friendly and the room was cleaned daily, towels renewed and all bedding changed every day too (no complaints there).
THE FOOD
The food was buffet style and frankly I was very impressed. There was a vast range of food available and no limit to how much you could eat (so forget the diet on this holiday). We drank wine every night and found that tipping the waiter 3-5 dinar (about £2:00) each night ensured an endless supply of plonk. The down side to the food was the sheer business of the place, hundreds of people all wandering around some queue jumping eventually became very wearing (and quite annoying) after a time. I longed for a nice quiet place to eat and by the end of the holiday I was glad to see the back of the restaurant despite the nice food.
THE ENTERTAINMENT
There are a few pools and very nice they were too, plenty of space to swim or play for everyone. The mini golf was useless, and the archery was non-existent. The evening entertainment was very poor, mostly in foreign languages and hard to follow. It was also the same every night. They play music out doors very loud until midnight every night and there is no escape from the noise even inside your room. The hotel is right on the beach which is very clean and the water and sand are really nice, water sports are available. We tried para gliding which cost about £8 each and was very good.
PORT EL KANTAOUI
We visited the port a few times, it's clean and a nice place to shop. The shop keepers and people who run boat trips hassle you but you just have to be firm and say no to be left alone (don’t even bother to be polite to them as they will think your soft and bug you even more). There is one place to buy booze in Port El Kantauoi, it's next to the supermarket. I suggest you stock up because you can't get it anywhere else.
As I said in the beginning of this review there are good points and bad points about this hotel. I enjoyed my holiday but I won’t be going back.

I loved Sol Club Kantaoui.
The staff were friendly and happy to help with any problems. The reps were trained to do everything, from games to evening entertainment. The evening entertainment was however set to a timetable of one week, so if your planning on going for 2 you should probably go out of the hotel in the evenings. For other 18's a small club situated in the hotel opens at 10pm each evening.
The food was buffet style with a wide range of Tunisian and English dishes.
The hotel had 4 pools , 2 large adult pools, a Childs pool and an indoor pool. Although I never actually saw anybody in the indoor pool, but that’s probably because the temperatures were sawing the whole 2 weeks.
The hotel had its own private part of a sandy beach with a beach bar close by.
I would advise against visiting the market in Sousse as when I went my family were surrounding by pick pockets, which wasn’t very nice particularly for small children as one person was burnt with a cigarette and another had her bag slit open.
However I have no complaints about the resort of port el Kantaoui. It has many bars and shops open at night and regular boat trips from the harbour. I would advise against these if you get travel sick, because I assure you , you will.
