Great hotel

We stayed at this hotel for a week and I have only the best to say. The hotel is situated at a beautiful green area between many olive trees and lemon tress and is a bit up on a hill and I was actually a bit worried by reading other reviews about having to walk down to Piazza Tasso. However this is not a problem at all. This is only a 8-10 minutes walk which is very pleasant even in the evening or night. The taxi ride from the train station to the hotel was Euro15 which is a bit expensive when you consider the distance which is walking distance. The room was big with a huge bed and a big bathroom and it overlooked the swiming pools and had a view of Vesuvious. The common areas of the hotels were decorated with a big collection of Floss floor and table lamps and I was very suprised as these are very fashionable. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of american, english and italian breakfast. What I enjoyed most was the big veranda which overlooked the gulf of Naples and mount Vesuvious whereby between 6-8 in the afternnon there was a happy hour and all drinks were half the price. It was relaxing and very romantic just to sit there and enjoy nice bellinis. We also visited Excelsior Vittoria hotel for drinks and though Hilton does not have that touch of luxury that makes Excelsior a member of Leading Hotels, I would certainly stay there again if I visit Sorrento again. Pepe the waiter is very nice and he remembers the guests names!
Overall excellent

Fanastic hotel, in terms of facilities, rooms, service, food etc. Negatives are that it is approx 5-10 mins (uphill coming back) walk, which is not particularly scenic, into Sorrento. Some of the charges are on the steep side eg €10 for a glass of wine unless you take advantage of the 6-8pm Happy Hour or €8 for a chocolate milkshake!! Overall though these negatives are outweighed by the former and we would therefore highly recommend this hotel as a base for exploring the coastal area.

Without a doubt the Hilton Sorrento Palace was one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed in. Its service, cleanliness, ambiance rival Westin and Ritz Carlton. The staff is so friendly and courteous they seem like family. My wife and I spent six dream days in this wonderful hotel. The views are breathtaking, the food 5 star and the pampering so great we felt we had been transported to a first class cruise ship on land! The prices are reasonable and the staff helps with everything you need. I needed a small toiletry I had forgotten and the staff member in the gift shp smiled as I tried to pay and shook her head, "C'e non problema, you need this right? Take it!" It was that kind of thoughtful care which made Sorrento Palace unforgettable. The service in the restaurants is second to none, your waiter makes you feel like royalty. Please go and enjoy this beautiful Hilton resort!
Unforgetable views of Mt. Vesuvius

We spent 3 nights at the Hilton Palace and truly felt like king and queen. The staff was overly helpful, rooms were big and we were even upgraded. The breakfast (which was included) was the best we ate in Italy. Unlimited choices in a huge banquet room with music playing. Views were wonderful. We ate dinner at the hotel at it was terrific. There is a 15 minutes walk into Piazza Tasso but it is very easy. Cabs are also readily available. There are 7 adjoining pools. When in sorrento again, there is no place else to stay! We loved it.
A beautiful hotel with a view that is amazing

My husband and I stayed here for a week. It was a lovely hotel. The staff was excellent. We paid a little more for an executive room and we were greatly impressed. The room was huge for Europe and a huge bathroom, shower and tub. When you are in an executive room, you have access to the executive lounge on the top floor. This is where you will eat breakfast, have snacks and drinks all included in the price of your executive room. We were able to have everything we needed. We would have lunch up in the lounge because there were always fruit, salads, bread, and meats provided. It was a great place to sip coffee, wine or water and enjoy the beautiful view. When you see the prices for these items downstairs, you see what a great deal the executive room is. The hotel sits up on a hill that overlooks Sorrento. There is a 10 min. walk to town and a uphill climb on the way back. We didn't mind the walk back to the hotel after enjoying all the tasty food in town. We hope to some day return to this lovely place!

Hotel accommodation : - Large rooms ( for European standards ) - very clean - nice pool area ( enough deckchairs and complementary towels, .... ) - good extra's ( gym, garden,.... ) - Kidds Club - very noisy rooms ( people in the coridor and engines/equipment operating at night ) / low sound insulation - magnificent view of the Vesuvius ( when dining, looking through a huge window, you see the beautifull area ) Hotel Service: - very friendly and helpfull senior staff ( the young couldn't understand English well, not so friendly and not motivated ) - food quality is not at all up to standard !!! - when having supper in the restaurant, there is no time between the meals ( in 45 minutes you enter the restaurant, order your food, eat your antipasta, eat your pasta, your main meal and your dessert and pay the bill !!! ) - the hotel is very expensive ( 5 euro for a coke, 5 euro for a bottle of water, 5 euro for a small icecream, 7 euro for a beer, 22 euro for a pasta dish, ........ ) - breakfast is good / enough choice ( possibility of outside/terras eating ) Hotel acces: - you have to walk up a slope for about 10 minutes when comming from Sorento town ( not for the weak and elderly ! ) - there is a bus connection, 2 times an hour ( 1 euro per trip ) Sorrento City/Area: - beautifull town/area ( magnificent views !!! ) - mediocre shopping in Sorrento ( by European standards ) - plenty excursion possibilitys ( watch out : they charge extra for admission when booking an excursion - example : 1 day to Pompei and Visuvius = 38 euro pp. AND admission 10 euro in Pompei pp. AND 6.5 euro in Visuvius pp. ) - Capri has beautifull and luxurious shopping ( all the famous brands ) - beware of driving a car, bike or motorcycle ; the Italians are kamikaze pilots !!! No respect for trafic laws. Conclusion : - Sorrento and area = absolutely worth a visit ! - Hilton Palace Hotel = never again ! ( expensive for what you get and too noisy )
crazy prices and noisy

the hallways are so loud and it goes on til midnight. the hotel's prices are nuts. 15 american dollars for a hotdog, six american dollars for a coke etc. its far from the coast, more a hilltop site. rooms are basic american holiday inn stuff. people are very nice, the breakfast which was included was fantastic. i wouldnt stay again because of the price, id rather have a hotel on the water for the money. the grounds are beautiful.
Nice hotel

Just returned from 1 night in this hotel. It was very nice, modern and big. The room was small, with not alot of space, but clean and efficient. We had a nice balcony (only seperated by a small wall), which you need to take care if you go out and close the door behind you. It is locked from the outside and I was stuck on the porch for 45 minutes until my husband got back to the room. The view was great. The buffet breakfast was wonderful, that was the only meal we had there as our time was really limited. For such a large hotel, I was surprised that they did not have a concierge. The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel is quite a walk away from downtown, you would be better off taking a taxi for at least one leg if you are not a walker, like myself. It took me more than 10 minutes. Great location with good views.
hilton sorrento palace-great hotel

just back from a week in this hotel and was not dissappointed. Very clean, quiet rooms with lots of area but little storage space. The balconies were only seperated from the next room by a small partition. I was full board and the breakfast was superb, a buffet consisting of everything imaginable, fruit, cereals, english breakfast, rolls, etc. The evening meal was waiter service which meant that you had to have what ewas on the menu. Vegatarians would be dissappointed as it was meat or fish every night. Very well presented but not massive portions. There were 2 starters and the desert and salad was buffet style. I saw a few people who obviously didnt want anything on the main course menu and I think they were brought pizzas from the snack bar. The pool was a really good shape with cascades but was freezing, although it was OK once you were in. The extras such as drinks were pricey as you would expect in a hotel, 5 euros for a coke. There were many conferences and functions on there but theese caused no problems. The location was at the end of a slight hill cbout 10 minutes walk from the very centre of town. If this hill troubles you, you should be in a care home not on holiday. The views from each side of the hotel are very different. On one side you overlook the road past the hotel and face a cliff about 20 meters from the hotel that towers above it. On the other side is the view of all Sorrento, the bay of Naples, Vesuvius etc. If you can afford it, go for it. If you get bored around the pool try this short walk. Turn right out of the hotel for about 50 yards and go up the steps to the church on the sharp bend. At the top of the steps take the zig-zag cliff path upwards. You'll see loads of lizards and we saw a massive grasshopper. About three quarters of the way up there is a small chapel set into the hillside with music playing even though it is empty. The views on the way up are fantastic. Then straight down and into the pool.
Matt: Hilton Sorrento Palace: big, noisy and expensive
from Mathias71
I went there for a conference and apart the view which is magnificent on the Golf of Napoli the hotel is a big building without any charm. This is two big for me and i feel that the rooms do not justify high prices (EUR 200 EUR including breakfast). The rooms are quite noisy as well. Even if the hotel has a lot of facilities (conference rooms, large swiming pool, fitness room...), i would not recommend it for a private stay.
