There was a shortage of daily entertainment which was needed due to the weather being so very very bad. Evening entertainment could have been a lot better also the room should have been smoke free.
Don't agree with the massive price increase on New Years Eve on wine beers and spirits. THIS WAS A TOTAL RIP OFF and with that alone myself and my partner will not visit this hotel again, and I will let everyone know about this who talks about coming to Tunisia.
There was no evening meal available on arrival, told to use the bar next door at our own expense which was not refundable by the hotel or MY Travel.

What an amazing holiday that was!
I read the reviews before I went; they didn’t give of the best impression! But I didn’t take anyone’s word for it, thought id judge it for myself! Which I’m glad I did, it was the best holiday ever! Everything I read in the reviews were a load of rubbish!
The hotel was very nice and the pool area was very well kept! The entertainment was great, the 3 entertainers were so good with everyone, and they got everyone involved! They were great with all the children and joined in! All the staff are very polite, we had the same waiter most days we were there he was the nicest guy I’ve met, on our last night there he decorated our table, flowers and all he treated us like royalty!
The locals are very polite, and the views are amazing! Along the port there are many things to do plenty of boat rides, there is a pirate ship which I would defently recommend!
In the hotel a rep invites you to a meeting to show what they have to offer! We wanted to make the most out of the holiday so we went on a 3 day safari which was mind blowing, we did things that we never thought we would do, there was alot of travelling there but was well worth the wait, saw the coliseum, rode camels, watched the sunrise on salt lake, jeep ride through Sahara dessert! It was GREAT!
The whole holiday was amazing!

This was our second time to the Golf Residence, and our sixth time to Tunisia and we never never tire of the wonderful friendly and hospitable people there.
Since we were last there 3 years ago the Golf Residence has had a major face lift and the dark corridors are now brightly painted and light and airy. Rooms are large, comfortable and well equipped, to suit everyone’s holiday needs.
Air conditioning in peak season is available and essential, at no extra charge. Maid service is daily and rooms are kept pristine and the sheets and towels are arranged decoratively.
All staff are friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. No request for anything is too much effort, these people will do anything to make your holiday totally enjoyable.
Large, well maintained restaurant serving self service meals for both breakfast and dinner with a large selection of dishes of both local and international origin. Our waiters Abdul and Sophiane got to know us well and our requirements quickly and always met us with a smile and a handshake.
Reception area is large and staffed by English speaking receptionists 24 hrs a day, with money changing available at selected hours. The reception also has the safety deposit boxes for a modest fee of only 2 TD (80p) per day. A small price to pay for peace of mind.
The pool area is large, and very well maintained being cleaned every night when the pool closes to the guests at 6pm Sunbeds are readily available with a charge for mattresses of only 1 TD (40p) a day. There is a snack bar adjacent to the pool area serving a good selection of lunch meals and drinks with waiter service to the sun beds.
A good level of entertainment is provided daily, both in and around the pool with water games and a wide variety of evening shows catering for all ages and tastes. Special mention must be made for Azmi, the hotel resident entertainer who works really hard, long hours in making the holiday complete and enjoyable.
The hotel is located some 10 minutes walk from the centre of Port El Kantaoui, where many shops and restaurants can be found in and around the picturesque Marina, based on an Andalusian concept. A lot of the shops operate a fixed price system making your shopping experience easier, but if you feel like a spot of haggling with the locals you can always find a few places to practice your technique.
There are plenty of excursions available mostly one day trips although 2 or 3 days desert safaris are also available and although tiring are well worth experiencing.
All in all a great hotel, resort and country and we will be returning there again and again in the future.

Don't believe everything you read about the hotel. This was our first family holiday to Tunisia and we enjoyed it immensely (returned 5th Sept 07).
I found the Hotel excellent value for money and cannot fault the food, cleanliness, or staff. I agree the furnishing are slightly tired but who cares your on holiday! The Bedrooms were cleaned to a very high standard every day.
The Food was excellent and plentiful. I cannot find fault with the staff they were excellent hosts and made the holiday even more enjoyable.
Try the Sauna/Turkish bath at the Hotel excellent service and good value for money. The hotel has a private beach which is great and, transport is provided by horse and buggy free of charge every hour from the reception area.
The only downside to the Hotel is the Disco Metalica adjacent - which is extremely loud and is open until very late at night/morning!
We had a room overlooking the gardens at the back of the hotel and the music didn’t affect. I do recommend that you request one of these rooms when booking if you enjoy a good night’s sleep!
Overall I cannot fault the Hotel or Staff!!

I don't see how anybody has any complaints about the golf residence.
I have been on many of holidays in different countries and would say Tunisia was the best. I am only home and I have it booked to go back next year again. I am also trying to go in October.
The staff in the hotel are brilliant and so is the entertainment. There are lots of stuff to do during the day by the pool. The night life is brilliant. I loved all the clubs and bars. I only turned 18 before I went and had doubts, but it was brilliant. Azmi and Seif are the entertainers but Azmi does most. He made my holiday most enjoyable. He brought me out and showed me all the bars and clubs. I would have been lost without him. It will be a shame he wont be there next year. Ilook froward to seeing Seif.
The staff go out of their way for you I think it's brilliant. My family have been 2 years previous and knew everyone. I was worried I would feel left out but after a few days it was like I had been there with them before. I cant wait to next year and would recommended it to anyone.

I have just got back from the Golf Residence and it was great!
Well the food was bad because there was not much variety apart from that everything was good.
The entertainment was wonderful they had dancing for the children and other things including bingo for the adults. The best entertainer was Azmi because he was very funny and always had a smile on his face.
There is a water park across the road and there is a fun fair just down the road, so children don't have to travel far whenever they want to go places and there are some restaurants there to.
I would definately go there again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x

Just back from Tunisia stayed at the golf residence with my wife and 15year old son. Weather was fabulous, hotel was a bit dated but clean, rooms cleaned every day and clean towels and sheets every day.
We were a wee bit worried about the food before we went but it was brilliant they had a really wide choice of dishes. While shopping you get a bit of hassle but not that much as to annoy you. Defiantly go to the medina but stay away from the markets they are very scary.
We will defiantly be back.

We went as a party of 5 to this hotel for 2 weeks and we all loved it. The staff were friendly especially the entertainment staff, we missed the changing ladies show the first week because we read reports on the net that it was rubbish but other guests persuaded us to go the second week and it was the most funny show I have ever been to and we laughed so much we cried.
The food we found to be first class and the variety endless I had rabbit, octopus, ostrich and breakfast was always fantastic. Only managed to eat lunch twice but the bakery over the road was fantastic.
The Medina in Sousse was a fantastic experience and once you embrace the atmosphere of bartering it is good fun. The Sunday market in Sousse was not nice, very crowded and noisy with everything second hand and lots of pushing and shoving.
The port itself is beautiful with lots of places to stop and soak up the atmosphere and lots of fixed price shops too. This is the only holiday that we managed to come home with money despite eating and drinking well and buying lots of leather, ceramics, silver jewellery, and African art objects. We were worried about all the bad reports we had read but by the second day we all felt relaxed and safe and never heard any noise at night, despite the fact that the disco was on till 5. The air conditioning was great as the temp was between 35 and 39 for the duration of our stay.

I didn't stay in the Golf Residence hotel, but some members of my family did. I stayed in El Mouradi Palace which in all was a brilliant hotel.
Although the entertainment in my hotel was very good, I found the Entertainers in the Golf Residence to be excellent!
There was 3 main entertainers, Mahammod, Azmi and Seif! All three were very entertaining and looked after us well. Azmi even showed us the best clubs to go to at night which was very helpful. He came out with us every night to make sure we were ok and to be honest he made our holiday! And what a dancer to!
Members of my family didn't like the rooms though and had to ask to change, they also found that the amount of cats was unbearable.
I think that if you have teenagers like me this hotel would be ideal, but in terms of food, rooms and helpfulness amongst waiter staff, it would be a good idea to stay in the El Mouradi Palace!
I wanna go back!

First trip and pleasantly surprised, Golf Residence well done, staff are great and mangaement should be proud of their hard work in making stay a pleasant one. Value for money excels what I have paid for when travelling to the usual popular European resorts.
Family holiday, children's entertainment was repetitive and limited. Pools are clean and young entertainment staff work hard to try to get everyone involved. Older guy has good patter but can appear short tempered with his colleagues. Went to the beach which is well catered for but watch out for jelly fish on the rocks, son was stung badly but locals couldn't have been more helpful and were there with a quick remedy. Rep didn't mention jelly fish but my son wasn't the only one stung.
Resort is busy, although I felt a bit limited in what you could do, but if you are there to people watch and have a stroll around some v.busy shops then you will be ok. Didn't do any trips as kids a bit young yet. Pleasantly surprised with the weather expected it to be intense, but for our 14 days pleasant breeze always there.
Hotel is very cosmopolitan and restaurant tries to meet everyone's taste. Husband and I enjoyed the varied selection of food but kids pallets are different and struggled at times finding them something to eat as not a lot of plain foods without sauce.
Hotel room was comfortable and enough space for 2A & 2C, air conditioning & mini bar handy. Noticed that there was no problem when people decided to take food from the restaurant which is usually a definite no on any other holidays. Our room looked over the pool and entertainment in the evening could be watched from our balcony this ended at midnight at the latest and didn't stop anyone from sleeping.
For female holiday makers yes like everywhere you will get attention but when I pointed out that my husband had walked on ahead left me immediately saying 'have a good holiday'. To summarise friendlier than Spain perhaps not as genuine as people from quieter resorts of Greece/Portugal would we go back definitely good value for money.

I found that the food was rather boring with the evening service having very few choices. Being a girl the waiters tried to be ‘very’ friendly, which was annoying.
The room would only lock from the outside, so therefore the room was open at night. We were told we would have a "pool view" but instead were greeted by the roof of the indoor pool.
It was incredibly noisy at night with loud music until 5am. I thoroughly did not enjoy this holiday.
The only good thing was the room was clean, although the bathroom was filthy.

This review is a bit late Im afraid!! The Hotel Golf Residence was ideal, IGNORE these terrible reviews below!! WHAT DO THESE FOLK WANT???? You get what you pay for. Imagine what you would get in the UK for these prices??? The Hotel is a bit tired, but major redecorating going on, our room was lovely, at the back, above the indoor (lovely) pool, cleaned every day for us, clean towels every day, the maids were really sweet. The Food was excellent, very varied and good quality, (there were some people moaning about lack of bacon HELLO this is a muslim country, get a life!!) the staff were great, very helpful and very quick to please you. If you dont do anything else on your holiday, book the desert trip, AMAZING. we booked with the tour rep at the Golf Residence, how they do that trip for that price was beyond us, the best trip we have ever done. IN A NUTSHELL::::::::::a great budget hotel, if you get a room near the nightclub, dont moan about it, ask to be moved, the staff bend over backwards to make sure you have a happy holiday. We met two lovely ladies in the hotel, who were there for the 7th time, that speaks volumes in itself. The Drag show was a laugh, dont know about the other entertainment, if we went on holiday for bingo or the likes, we would go to butlins or wherever. Hope this is a helpful review, its very realistic. Believe us, we have travelled and there are places we wouldnt return to, but this place is on our list of "one day".
