I spent 3 nights at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton for a family wedding, 2 nights in a single room and 1 in a twin, and I'm afraid that overall I was disappointed.
While the staff were very friendly and willing to help, there were several confusions with room bookings affecting me and my extended family (there was around 20 of us) - the best man had only been booked in for the night before the wedding, rather than the night of the wedding for one example - which took quite a long time to sort out.
The hotel itself was very shabby away from the public areas, and the single room I had on the 1st floor seemed to be the depository for furniture that probably should have been junked. The two halves of the divan bed were different sizes and the bedside table had chunks missing from it. Also the carpet was stained, the walls marked and the curtains coming away from their fixings which meant they couldn't be closed properly. And not even a free biscuit on the tea and coffee tray to compensate! As the hotel was fully booked there was no chance to move.
The twin room was in better condition and at least had furniture with no chunks missing, but was quite unpractical as there was a bedside table and light next to only one of the beds, nothing next to the other, also the water pressure in the shower was practically nonexistent.
There were a lot of hen and stag parties in the hotel which might have been the reason for all the noise in the early hours every night, and for the fire alarm going off at 4am on my 2nd night, apparently the smoke sensors in the rooms are very sensitive.
On a more positive note the food in the restaurant and for the wedding was very good, although the bar and room service food was definitely not up to the same standard.
Considering the price of the room's I really didn't feel I received value for money, especially as the prices for drinks and food in the hotel were also very high. I know I won't be choosing to stay there again and neither will any of my extended family.

When I first made the booking on the 4th January I specifically requested a room with a view and a balcony. Upon our arrival we were advised that we would be getting this and that they were fully booked, which I gracefully accepted.
We were appointed room 225 and unpacked all of our belongings and headed out for the day.
Through out the night we kept being disturbed by the set of doors outside our room which kept banging every time another guest passed through. I was going to complain at the reception desk and request to be moved however I remembered being advised that they where fully booked.
After a restless night sleep we went to take a shower but this was not as hot as we would of liked it to of been even though it was on the hottest setting. After a quick uncomfortable shower my fiancee tried to use her hair dryer in one of the electrical points next to the mirror and found it to be faulty. However it did eventually work after finding out that if both lights were on in the main room then it would work.
When we checked out I was not even asked if we had enjoyed our stay so I advised the gentleman of my dissatisfaction and he did not even apologize. Instead I was advised that it was my responsibility to inform them of the loud door and any other complaints needed to be addressed upon our arrival and we could of been moved. I had been previously advised that they were fully booked so someone was not telling the truth and has made me want to think twice before booking with Hilton again.

This was one of the worst experiences I have had in a hotelof this size. For a chain like Hilton it shouldn't be allowed to happen. The bedrooms that aren't refurbished are shabby, enamel off the bath, dripping taps, no temperature control on the mixer taps in the bathroom, worn ragged towels- the list is endless. My bedrooom was so hot that I couldn't sleep but also couldn't open the main windows. I had to resort to standing on a bedside cabinet to open a small skylight window just to get air.
The breakfast for the conference was set up in a large room with tressle tables for the food which was cold, as were the plates. Domestic toasters were used to provide toast for nearly 400 delegates!! There were serious health and safety issues - a fire alarm was activated during the evening meal. When trying to evacuate the building the space at the stairwell was found to be full of old mattresses and furniture and the fire doors locked. If there had really been a fire there could have been serious consequences. Staff didn't seem able to deal with the number of complaints being made and I did feel sorry for them. The only consolation was the food at lunchtime and in the evening which was good. The hotel certainly cannot cater for conferences and should seriously look at how it presents it's information for travellers. Very, very disappointing. Would never go back.

A huge disappointment. You expect the name Hilton to mean something... for me that now means miserably bad breakfast and over hot rooms. The first night we were given a room in the eaves. Barely room for one never mind two. We couldn't sleep for the heat and the air con made more noise than anything.
Food on the first night was a carvery type thing... turns out every night is a carvery. Food was poor. Bernard Matthews Chicken roll wrapped round tinned asparagus. I ask you.
Couldn't fault (most) of the staff. They were all quite pleasant. Room was moved for 2nd night. Still over hot but we got the deluxe room we actually paid for.
Unfortunately while the first room had wall paper falling from the rooms and bashed up furniture, the shower cubicle in the second room had tiles that were hanging on for dear life and a fair bit of mould. Never again. Ugh!

The Hilton Brighton is fantastic, staff very helpful and welcoming.
We travelled to Brighton for the Gay Pride weekend and expected the hotel to be very busy, it was but as the Hotel has a bar, dining room, and extensive lobby if you fancy a quiet moment then there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the hotel.
We were expecting the basic room to be just that but it had opulent curtains, TV, fan, and very comfortable beds.
The Hilton is on the main road in Brighton and has its own attached Bar for guests and the general public, this faces the sea front and is great for sipping a cocktail or grabbing a bite to eat whilst watching the sea! The Hotel is close to many bars, pubs, restaurants, and shops, everything you could want!

We book this independently with the hotel direct. Through their yearly offer of Winter warmer breaks for £159 for two people, you can get dinner on the first night, and B & B the other two mornings, great value for money.
Great leisure facilities if you want them. Easy access to all amenties, The Lanes, Bars, Resturants, palace Pier etc. The only draw back is the price of drinks in the bar and the car part cost. For 2 spirits with mixers we were changed £8.40! - BEWARE!!!, and the cost of the car park with NPC £25!.
This aside, the food in the restaurant is excellent, full English breakfast is lovely, always hot and very varied. Something for everyone. Rooms are spacious and very clean. Hotel staff very attentative, and friendly. We try to go at least once a year. Comes recommended.

We booked this hotel as a last minute break so for the price we paid we thought it was well worth the money - good room service & clean, if a little basic, rooms.
I do not think this hotel would be worth the money if you were paying the full price, to me its not much better than the travel lodges down the road for £40 a night!!
Plus we had to pay additional prices for the car parking!! This was expensive! I wouldn’t be impressed if I had been paying the full room price.
Price aside though, great location for bars, right on the seafront, so excellent in the summer I would imagine! Friendly staff, delicious breakfast - an excellent hotel for a seaside mini break if you can get a last minute deal like we did!

A friend and I stayed at the Hilton Brighton Metropole for the weekend late spring this year. The location seemed so great -- it's what really got us interested in booking. That and the pictures seemed to show a nice large property with good facilities. The beachfront location probably can't be matched for its quick access to beach with patio bars and amusements (and the pier is only a 5 minute walk).
In reality the condition of the hotel is rather outdated and worn. Our room was of a good size but poorly arranged with a tiny window. The dining room looks so great in pictures but the tables are very jammed together and the breakfast wasn't that great in terms of selection or food quality.
I guess if you're not too picky about the condition of the hotel and mostly want location, this hotel is a decent choice. Otherwise, I think it's possible to do much better for service, atmosphere and quality.
