Hilton Swindon Hotel

Had a poor stay which included very unhelpful staff and cold food for two breakfasts and an evening meal. We stayed as part of the Summer deal which included a significant discount - had I paid full price it would have been nothing short of theft. The best thing about the hotel is the rooms - they are average. Food and service let this Hilton down badly. Tip: stay at the DeVere hotel nearby or The Schoolhouse instead - both are very pleasant establishments.

Had an excellent stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The restaurant was very nice and the meals were of a good standard. The only disappointing part were the check-in staff, they were not very helpful and seemed in a rush to get rid of you! Just a small complaint about an otherwise good hotel.

We stayed here 1 night Saturday 9th April. Checked in at 14 00 by an extremely polite and efficient lady, biased as she upgraded us due to Hilton HHonours Gold Card. Superb room on 2nd floor with a view of the internal quadrangel, upgraded room facilities, with excellent bathroom Dinner was a carvery with choice of Beef, Lamb, Pork and Salmon, restaurant not overly busy. Pool typical lifestyle setup with a sauna and steam room included. We noticed signs in the lift stating the the hotel was very busy this particular weekend (didn't seem to be) and that they anticipated breakfast to be very busy. We arrived at about 9 00 and there was a queue but within 5 minutes we had been seated. Can't fault the staff in anyway, most attentive and pleasant. Ideally situated for the Great Western shopping mall and Steam museum. Wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this hotel. Regards Paul

I've stayed at the Swindon Hilton on several occasions throughout 2003 and 2004, the most recent being December 2004. Standard rooms are large and well appointed. It is one of few Hiltons which have a minibar i every room. The staff are helpful, if a little slow to check you in. The restaurant offers one of the best menus for a 3* hotel (other reviewers state that this is a 4* but I do not rate it that highly and am not aware that Hilton rates it higher than 3*). The pool is large with a swim-in spa bath capable of taking 20 people. The water is deliciously warm. I just wish that the changing rooms were as hot. Overall I cannot complain about this hotel and I intend to stay there again.

Having stayed here for a 2 day break, we had a very nice time, thank you! Nice staff, nice hotel, nice rooms, good facilities. We had a good carvery meal on our first evening, and very good breakfast both days. No complaints at all really! Swimming pool is good as well. Bed good. We will be visiting again (after trying a very low standard visit to Hitlon Maidstone which is definately NOT recommended!)

This hotel claims to be 4 star but they could not be more wrong. Having stayed at this hotel more than 40 times, it is a standard business class 3 star hotel. The level of decor is the same as an Marriott or Holiday Inn and the costs are about the same. BUT The staff seem to be under the illusion that everything is 5 star and that I should be honored to be allowed to stay there and this attitude is the same on check in, check out, the bar and the restaraunt. In addition, they seem to have big reservation problems. After all, if I book a double superior smoking room 2 weeks in advance, I do not expect to get a standard twin non smoking room and get charged the same rate. There are much better hotels in Swindon for the same money.

Have stayed at the Swindon Hilton on a number of occasions over the last couple of years and have found standards have slipped each time. Last visit June 04 broken sink in the bathroom, tatty carpets and bedding, it certainly no longer deserves its 4 star rating. Evening meal very poor standard. The only thing going for it is the long suffering staff who always endeavour to be helpful. Will not be staying again.

Just returned from a very enjoyable weekend at this hotel which has earned full marks from my wife and myself. Excellently appointed - the standard rooms are large and functionally elegant with some intriguing paintings decorating the walls. The bathroom is spacious and comfortable and there is ample room for storing clothes and other accumulations. An open plan lobby and dining room give an attractive look to the area and the food is something to write home about - a carvery with a wide variety of choice, beautifully presented and served by expert and very pleasant kitchen staff. The welcome seemed genuine and unforced and the staff's willingness to be of any help places this hotel among the best I have stayed in. Full marks to the Swindon Hilton

An excellent hotel which was good value for money, as when I stayed I had breakfast and dinner for 2 nights included in the price! The swimming pool and spa are of a reasonable size, nice to relax in after a long day. Easy access from the M4, I would stay there again!

Very nice staff who go the extra mile - they called my room to tell me that my car inside light had been left on, even when I hadn't given my licence plate number on the check-in form (they tracked it down from a previous stay). Room service OK, small serviceable gym & leisure area.
