Gisborough Hall

My husband and I love Yorkshire and are used to staying in old style country house hotels with excellent service and high standards of accommodation. We were not to be disappointed! We could not fault the wonderful staff who made our stay so pleasant. We stayed in room 122 at the front of the Hotel overlooking the grounds, Lord Gisborough's suite a lovely spacious room decorated with good quality furnishings, fabrics and colours. The hotel itself: We stayed at Guisborough Hall hotel from Friday 11th May to Friday 18th May, in a double room located in the Woodland Wing, on a bed and breakfast tariff, which worked out at £52 per person per night. We received a very professional and friendly welcome. Our luggage was taken from our car boot to our room, and the check-in procedure was very efficient and friendly. Gisborough Hall (sic), near Guisborough, North Yorkshire, is a family seat of a sea-faring bunch of local chaps. The building itself is now a hotel and part of the Macdonald chain of hotels (see "Inchyra Grange"). The room (201) on arrival was superb, if bit out of the way in what they call the "Woodland Wing". My wife stayed at the hotel a while ago following a mail shot offering Dinner Bed and Breakfast for £100. We certainly gor our moneys worth. At the time we stayed the hotel had been open less than a year and everything was new with great attention to detail. We were allocated a standard room at the end of the hall on the first floor. It was a lot larger than most other chain hotel rooms we have stayed in. The bed was larger than king size and was a true bed not two singles pushed together. Gisborough Hall is a former manor house-turned-hotel that is managed by Macdonald Hotels – apparently a well-known chain of luxury hotels in the UK. (I was told by the locals that the building’s former owner moved into the nearby servants’ quarters when he sold the place, and sometimes makes an appearance to play the grand piano in the drawing room downstairs.) Stayed in the old nursey room Very nice. Grounds and surroundings very nice, & food was lovely in restaraunt. Would stay again....

Stayed at Gisborough Hall for Valentine's night. Was very night. Had the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast rate which was very good value for the standard room which was huge with a kingsize bed and fantastic views of the Cleveland hills and countryside. The hotel is in the middle of fields and is so quite. The restaurant is fantastic with very nice food. All the staff are very pleasant and will help you with anything you need. If you want to use tha beauty facilities, book well in advance as I couldn't get booked in for a facial.

am writing to express my thanks to you and your staff for another truly wonderful stay at the Gisborough Hall hotel. I believe that this is the fifth or sixth year of staying with you. My wife Carol, our black cocker spaniel dog Teddy and I, only stay a few nights each January but is the stay which brightens up even the most trying of winters. Stayed for one night. We had a lovely room (The Old Nursery) huge and tastefully furnished. The hotel was full but the service in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff are very friendly and we were made to feel welcome, will be going back soon.

We stayed here for two nights in August and found the hotel to be good, overall. Upon arrival staff at the hall were 1st rate - quick and easy check in. The west wing where our room was situated was a bit of a hike through the main (old) part of the hotel. The room was clean and well furnished. The showers were very powerful and the bathrooms were spacious and tidy. The negatives were the corrridors linking the rooms had the heating on and it was extremely hot!
