This Hotel is ok, not super, but above average
We spent 7 nights in this hotel in december '04. We booked it "last-minute" for only 350 euros half board for one person. For this price, the hotel is a really good deal, if we would have paid full price though we would'nt be so happy as the hotel is not that great. The other Iberostar hotels in Tenerife seem much nicer. The food in this hotel is really tasty though and it has a good central location, very close to supermarkets, shops and bars. The rooms are just average, and there are no English channels on the TV, no pay-per-view, no nothing, so the tv sucks! The "view" from the room was also lousy, the hotel car park. The staff in this hotel were friendly. The poolside is just average, there is no jacuzzi...which I love so much...and the pool was very cold. Drinks in the hotel are also not cheap like in most hotels with half board. The drinks are not included with the dinner. So for the price we paid this was a very good deal!
we stay their every december.superb hotel .
we are regulars at the las dalias .superb woudnt go anywhere else.john.forest of dean.england.
Great Hotel for all
We had a wonderful week at Las Dalias over the New Year. You really coudn't fault it. The staff are very helpful, the food is fantastic with a huge choice and the whole place a very friendly place with a good mix of young couples, families and the more mature customer - not at all the God's waiting room you can get in some hotels! We did ask to move rooms after the first night for a better view, which was done with no fuss and no hassle and much appreciated. The evening entertainment is a touch cringe worthy but the "entertainment staff" are exceptional from day activities to the children's club to the mini disco, their energy was boundless. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and we would have no hesitation staying there again if we were to go to Tenerife.
excellent pre-xmas break
nice clean friendly hotel close to all amenities, 10 mins from beach. good selection of food catering for all choices. great holiday enjoyed by all my family. nice break just before xmas.
A week of relaxation and comfort
Spent a week there in October 2004, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, everyone had a fantastic time. The hotel is quite a large hotel, but still small compared to some of the super hotels in Playa De Las Americas, like the Las Dalias' sister hotel the Bouganville. Our rooms were conveniently next door to each other and were very spacious and clean with good facilities. The air conditioning in the rooms was very powerful but also very noisy. I recommend that you leave it on the highest setting for a while before you go to bed to let the room cool down quickly, then switch it on to a lower, less noisy setting to sleep. Our room was on the fourth floor out of nine floors and we could see the sea just over the top of some other hotels, from our large balcony. However, floors lower down wouldn't have had a good view. Also apparently a very small number of rooms had only a view out onto the road near the hotel. There is a fridge in all of the rooms but to obtain the key for it you have to pay about €18 for a minibar for the week. However saying this, the fridge in our room already had its key left in it, so we used it all week to cool bottles of water for free! When we were staying there, I would say it was about 40% spanish people, 30% Italian, 20% British and 10% German/French/Dutch. This meant the evening entertainment in the hotel was as good as it can be considering it had to be done in lot of different languages. However it was still good quality with Flamenco dancers, Illusionists, 'Comedy' Shows, Madonna and Elvis nights, Irish dancing and a Parott show. The staff at the hotel were amazing. The entertainers could all speak a million different languages and were always so friendly, and the reception staff seemed to know everything. I even got into the habit of saying a quick 'hola' to our maid in the corridor each morning. The food at the hotel was the highlight of our holiday. There was absolutely no queueing for food and the variety and quality was the best I have had at any hotel. There were about 6 different pasta dishes (hot and cold), 20 different salads, paella every night, 3 different pizzas every night, 6 differnt meats, 4 diferent choices for fish, as well as a grill area where something different each night was cooked in front of you each night. There is also an excellent choice of food for dessert and in the morning for breakfast, including diferent breads, cheeses, toast, cereals, yoghurt, salad, cold meats, even porridge! Clearly they make sure to cater for every nationalities tastes. The only complaint I did have about the restaurant was that it was very warm inside. Some evening I felt I couldn't manage any hot food due to the heat, but you do get used to it after the first few days. As for drink in the hotel, the main local beer is Dorada, the also do San Miguel which is better, but the seemed to be some sort of supply problem when we were there. There are 2 bars at the hotel, the main entertainment one, as well as one upstairs near the reception area, which has a good pool table and a large TV, as well as a more relaxed atmosphere than the main bar. The location of the hotel is in the San Eugenio area of Playa De las Americas which is basically near the middle of the resort, but not actually near the main Las Americas centre with all of the nightclubs. The hotel is on a hill and opposite a very pleasant shopping centre with lots of electrical and clothes shops, a couple of bars as well as a very cheap, well stocked, but very hectic underground supermarket. (Get your bottled water from here). There are about a dozen bars and pubs within a 5 minutes walk from Las Dalias, some of the better than others. They all tend to be Scottish bars, Irish bars and cabaret bars, that kind of thing, which have things like bingo every night, a pool table or two and maybe a cabaret and live music, as well as all the main football matches on TV. There aren't really any authentic spanish bars nearby to get a decent jug of sangria. If you want this you need to go to Los Cristanos nearby. We went to Los Cristianos twice, both times during the day and we loved it. It is much more traditional than the area near Las Dalias with some spanish bars, but it probably isn't up to much durning the evening, its really best to go in the day. The best way to get there is by taxi which costs about €6, we used taxis all of the time, just flagging them down in the street or getting them from the taxi rank opposite the hotel. Some of the taxi drivers do go too fast, especially at night, but nothing too scary. I wouldn't recommend going to the resort centre of Las Americas, near Veronica's strip, unless you are aged between 18 and 25. There really isn't anything there at all except for loads of different clubs, all of which have very pushy people trying to get you iniside. It really isn't even worth going just for a look as we did one night, we ended up walking round for ages because it just wasnt the right thing for us. Anyway if you managed to read all of that then well done, I cant believe I wrote so much. If you are going to Las Dalias I can guarantee you will have a fantastic time.
Loved it!
Have just returned this morning from an amazing holiday at the Las Dalias thanks to the reviews on this site! booked last minute on holidayhotels and got flights from excel airways for a week: 8-15 october 2004. Myself and my friend (both 18) were looking for somewhere to relax just outside of Playa de Las Americas- we didn't want to be in the heart of it, but did want to be close by, and thats what we got. The Hotel is fabulous, the staff couldn't have been more helpful- we weren't flying back until 11pm last night but we could keep our luggage in storage at the hotel and were offered the chance of a shower and dinner before we left. The food is good- a very large selection, prawns, fish, lamb, chicken, kebabs etc and the salad's are lovely, however we did eat out at le verdes pizzaria just around the corner and at an all you can eat chinese further down in the costa adeje- both v good. The hotel is in a hilly area so your legs get a bit of a work out, but not too bad at all, and the taxis and bus' are v cheap- 1 Euro 20 cents into Las Americas on the Bus or about 3/5E by taxi from the permenantly filled taxi rank opposite. I would recommend the aquapark for a day out, or the Teide mountain tour, but lazing by the pool or the Las Americas beach is just as good (didn't think much of the costa adeje beach). and the walk along the front to Las americas is very enjoyable. In terms of night life 'Tramps' bar is fantastic (trampstenerife) - not to be missed, the DJ is as fantastic at 11pm as he is a 5am (personally thought the DJ in the bar was better than the club, so have drinks outside too)! and Soul Sellar has a very funny dj. be prepared for PR's trying to convince you to go to their bar- they're not always the politest of people is you say no but don't take it personally! There's lots of shops both near the hotel and in Las Americas, but a lot of which are english- Puerto de la Cruz on the north of the island has a more spanish feel to it. I seriously cannot rate this hotel highly enough, i never fancied Tenerife for a holiday but have had the most fantastic time, if this was a bad hotel it would still be great because of its location, but the fact it is fantastic makes the whole holiday amazing. I cannot wait to return to Tenerife and would love to return to the las dalias- don't feel you have to book a package, this was my first proper holiday without parents and it was easy, we booked flights & accom online and then just got a taxi to the hotel (about 15/20E each way) which meant we weren't cramped in a coach for ages. If you have any questions email me and i'll see if i have any answers! glanette2469@hotmail.com
great family holiday 2004
Just returned from two week stay at Las Dalias and had a wonderful time. The staff were all very friendly and most helpful. The rooms were cleaned every day to a very high standard with fresh linen and towels.(Sweets and treats left sometimes) The restuarant served a huge variety of cereals, fruit, cooked and loads more for breakfast, evening meal had every imaginable salad you could think of and main meals included at least four meat dishes, four fish, various pastas, vegeterian and usual chips pizzas burgers etc for kids. Fresh fruit and loads and loads of mouth watering puds Pool area was very large and nicely laid out with palm trees, bar, terraces etc and was cleaned by a small army of staff each morning(We watched them from our balcony, even wiped down the sunbeds) A tape was placed across the entrances to the pool area so that no-one could place a towel on sunbeds until the cleaning was finished, then all hell broke loose as they lined up on their starting orders - Hilarious! Having said this, If you wanted a sunbed during the day and noticed that they were reserved with a towel and not being used, all you had to do was call a member of the pool staff and they would remove the towel and allocate the bed to you (Fantastic idea). The entertainment in the evening was not too bad, some nights better than others. It was normally outside around the pool bar area which again was very pleasant. Only one small negative about the hotel. There are two large free form pools, and a kiddies paddling pool. The two larger pools are the same depth 1.4mts at both ends so if you have children as we do around 8 to 12 years old it is just a bit too deep for them (I could manage tip toes and Im 5'8") All in all an excellent hotel, excellent holiday and excellent value for money. We will be back to the Las Dalias.
Best hotel staff
Just got back after 2 weeks end july beginning of august. Overall hotel was of a high standard very clean with above average food. The rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard with added little touches like top cover on bed turned back with the odd couple of sweets on the side, which made it a pleasure to return after the room ws cleaned all staff are very helpful and when ever we needed help for what ever reason they seemed to take great pleasure in helping food was good with a wide choice of main meals some times with up to 6 choices fruit etc was always fresh and very varied it appeared that all the chefs etc took great pride in there fare as the presentation was excelent pools and pool area are well laid out very clean cleaners clean the area every morning the hated towel planters could not claim sunbeds until 8:45 after cleaning was completed i know i watched every morning from my balcony better, than a comedy some mornings nice touch from hotel is if you require a sunbed later in the day and none are available they will remove towels from beds not being used. we have all seen it on holiday go the pool at midday and there are no beds free, some people must have the best tanned towels around as they seem to lay on the sunbed alone all day while there owners are out to lunch or shopping 1 small gripe is both bigger pools are the same depth, 9" to deep for most 6-12 year old kids Overall the hotel has a great location with taxi rank, shops, bus stop all within 100 metres
Best holiday ever.
Me and my husband, a couple of friends stayed at this hotel for a week in june.We found the rooms were very good and were cleaned to a very high standerd. The food was excellent we enjoyed every meal our only regreat is that we didnt stay longer. But will defantly return in the near future.
excellent hotel
This was my first holiday abroad and I couldn't have wished for a better experience. The hotel was brilliant and all the staff were very friendly - they made us feel like royalty. Everything was spotlessly clean and the food was superb. Las Dalias is situated centrally and everything we needed for a great stay was nearby. My only problem now is that having this high quality of accommodation on my first trip means that I won't settle for anything less in future. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel special and pampered on holiday.
