Just returned from a great ,relaxing week at this lovely hotel. My husband and i went on our own to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary so left the teenagers at home!
We were reccomended this particular hotel by people who had stayed there before and it certainly lived up to our expectations. The entrance lobby is very grand and our room had the most amazing view across the pool and gardens and the beach/sea. The sun was shining on our balcony at 6.30 every morning so it makes you want to get up and enjoy the day ahead.
Our room was very spacious and there was plenty of storage with a lovely bathroom. It was kept very clean by the maid each day and the towels are changed when you require.
We just went on the beach each day and then the pool to finish off the day. You get free sunbeds with cushions and free towels to use. The animation team were good but left you alone if you just wanted to chill out.
We enjoyed the food selection, especially the fresh omelettes cooked fresh for you for breakfast.
Nice fish dishes, tuna steaks, turkey steaks, rice and masses of salads and fruit. The desserts are great.
The man from the Spa Centre was quite pushy though and was always walking around the pool trying to persuade guests to look around the spa and then book a massage/sauna/steam bath. Although i must say it was very relaxing and our skin felt great!
The pool had a swim-up bar which was very refreshing.
Good idea to tip the waiters and pool staff as they really look after you for your whole stay.
Overall a superb holiday.

My friend and I went to the Averroes a few weeks ago. The hotel itself is absolutely great but it was ruined by the attentions of the animation staff.
The guys are great in the day but do centre on the young girls and convince them to go to a disco at night for an extra 10 dinars. Be warned they will take you to a disused hotel where there is a disco in the basement which doesn't look like it has been used in years. I don't think the guys are allowed to associate with guests so they will ask you to meet them round the back of the hotel away from the eyes of security.
In the disco the guys became very letchy - a little scary actually really laying the compliments on and trying to convince us to be with them and come back with them to the staff quarters in the hotel.
In the two weeks we were there we saw many girls fall for this and one of the girls has said that since she has been back in the UK she has had constant harrassment from one of the boys asking her for money and clothes and to return. Our rep said the boys do try and court girls in order to get money sent in order to supplement their wage and to get free sex which is frowned upon with muslim girls. Bilel was the worst one there.
My advice would be to not be over friendly with these guys and to not go anywhere outside of the hotel with them as when you are on their turf they seem to change alot. Especially do not go to Latinos bar where all the animation staff bring the guests they are with that week to show them off.
It is a shame as I loved the hotel but having the guys always appearing on my sun lounger each day saying 'I want to kiss you' etc really made my skin crawl.
I would go back to Tunisia as it is a beautiful place but I would not return to the Averroes hotel as it wasn't relaxing owing to this.
I also picked the hotel owing to the gym being part of the all inclusive but it was actually 5 dinars extra - be warned!

Just returned, weather first few days very cold but impoved. Still take warm jumpers . Able to sit around pool but much to cold to swim in pool or beach. Good location and hotel excellent. Very clean and large rooms. Paying extra for sea view well worth it. Bath water rather orange ! but good powerful showers.
Food good even for me as mainly vege eater. Cereal limited and a bit like cardboard. Hot breakfast -strange with something that looked like bacon, pink sausage things and vege like braised cabbage. There is fried egg and omellete station and salad, breads etc so caters for most[fussy children could be problem].Went all inclusive which was great , cocktails not very strong though.
Resort good although very quiet on our visit. Good promanade to walk with marina and resturants at end. Shops sell the same thing and hassle is very annoying. On whole i wasn't sure about Tunisia as booked as cheap weeks break but overall very impressed with hotel and would go back when a touch warmer.Very safe to walk at night, even when we were only ones about.Monastir airport seemed very unorganised but was quickest we have ever checked in.
Went on one full day trip to Tunis ,carthage ,mosaic museumn and medina. Enjoyed as weather not good but would not do otherwise.
Change money up as you need it at hotels as fixed price and you can not bring back with you.

the hotel is spotlessly clean and 99% of the staff are great. the two young lads in the beach bar are the exception. english people are in the minority but we made some good friends.the rooms are massive although some people, including us, had money or goods stolen.be very careful.the food is the let down. very predictable and by the second week you had had enough.it's decent quality but repeated most nights.we went on the two day trip to the sahara.you do 800 miles intwo days in a bus that isn't airconditioned and it's hard work. if you are prepared to do it then it's well worth it.the pirate ship is rubbish, don't waste your time and money.the entertainment staff are brilliant although night time is very poor.DO NOT got to the medina. they are aggresive and rude and the clothes are as cheap in the fixed price shop across the road. this wasn't the best holiday we have ever had but it was the most relaxing. a lovely hotel,if only they would vary the food it would be 10/10.

We booked this as a last minute and normally go to the Caribbean so we were very pleased with the standard and service. The hotel was spotlessly clean, food was very varied and well cooked. Serving staff, waiters and cleaners could not do enough for you. The evening entertainment was very good, although the entertainment staff were on the go all day and really engaged with all the guests. We would definitely recommend this hotel and Iberostar.

Well this was my second time to Tunisia and my girlfriend’s first time. The hotel was everything I was expecting from a 4* hotel.
The hotel gave you a real sense of space, but let me explain. The hotel was full whilst we were there, and we never had to get up early for a sunbed, the restaurant was never heaving, the waiters never kept you waiting. The location of the hotel direct on its own private beach and own gardens gave you a sense of privacy from other hotel's, guest's and beach sellers (which weren't allowed near the sunbeds). The pool is great, swim up bar, jacuzzi and very clean.
As for the food, if you are wanting "English food" then take a holiday in England (or Spain!) Whatever time you went down for evening service the quality of the food available was superb. Every night there was different local cuisine, and if you love couscous they know how to cook it. You have to try a brik, which is a pancake filled with veg and an egg, deep fried - doesn't sound healthy but tastes amazing. All the chefs serving the food in the evening have a real sense of pride in what they are preparing and cooking.
The rooms are very spacious and quiet. We had a room on the top floor over looking the gardens which on the balcony caught the sun in the evenings. As for furniture, more drawers and cupboards than you ever need, quality queen size single's pushed together, fridge with mini bar(will explain that in a minute) TV, air-con, crappy hair dryer and a safe for about 80p a day.
We stayed on half board basis, and considering the extra cost for all inclusive, for us it worked out better value. Because we were HB we paid for our drinks when we had them, which meant that at the end of the night you paid and gave a tip, therefore we got great service! We were drinking local Muscat wine at 14.500 dinar (about £5.80). So if you are all inclusive, a little tip will probably get you better service.
The mini bar. Very simple, DO NOT USE IT. We got extra drinks charged to our mini bar. Although it was only about five pounds worth, it was the principle. We sorted it out in the end, but to cut it short, DO NOT CHARGE ANY DRINKS OR FOOD TO YOUR ROOM.
Evening entertainment not the best, but during the day the team are brilliant. Not pushy to get you to participate and everyone has a laugh around the pool watching the games being played. One guy stood out for us and that was Simone, he is a legend at making you smile.
To sum up a great holiday. Would we stay in this hotel again? Without a doubt, but we wouldn't use the room bill. Would we recommend it? That’s a definite YES!
If you’re staying here you will love it.

We stayed at the Hotel Averroes 4* All inclusive and it was the best holiday that our family have had, we have stayed in Tunisia 4 times before but this one topped the rest.
The Entrance/Reception area was breath taking, with Marble flooring, water features and plants hanging down all the lovely fret work it looked georgous.
The bedrooms are very spacious with marble floors too (very slippery when wet though), we also had sea veiws was unbelievable.
The food was excellent, even our 9yr old daughter ate and when we have stayed in Tunisia before she would sit and play with it rather than eat it. The waiters were very kind too, they would clean away your plates and pour your drinks out for you. They also have Sister Hotels that you can eat at too, which is Mexican, Italian or authentic Tunisian.
The staff at the hotel were so friendly out there as we have been out there before and it has been Ramadan and they don't eat from sun rise till sun set (Sep/Oct) and are very miserable.
The pool area was really nice the deepest part is 1.40 meters with spa areas, there is also a seperate childrens pool. There is also a bar around the side of the pool were you can get water/alcohol/cocktails. The sun beds are free and no charge for mattress.
The beach is very clean with white beaches and clear blue sea, on a calm day you can see the fish swimming around your feet. The sun beds were free too. There is also free peddle boats/wind surfing and kiacking.
The entertainment was throughout the day with Aqua Gym/Volley Ball/Football/Water Polo/
Table Tennis. The evening entertainment wasn't too bad but could be better with Mini Disco for the children.
We had a lovely Holiday there and are thinking of returning may be next year as we had such a lovely time and couldn't fault it in anyway shape or form.

The hotel was fabulous shame about the food and the rude staff though. They catered for every other nationality and all that we ate all week was chips, spaghetti bol and the pasta and all of it tasted horrid. The rooms are very big and clean although we had to wait 2days for fresh loo roll n had no flush on the toilet for a few days too.
My son loved the pool and as someone has already pointed out it is so slippy around the pool so be careful. Outside the hotel the people are very rude and expect you to buy what ever you look at, they think we English are bloody rich and the mithering and rudeness is the last thing you want on holiday.
I wouldn’t recommend Tunisia to anyone but the hotels cleanliness I would. Also there was 1 night of karaoke great. Boring. Try to have fun if you go. We didn’t. Waste of nearly 2grand for a week for me my partner and my 4yr old who does not like spaghetti bol anymore!

Had this hotel not been a little curly at the edges, and a bit worn I would have given it full marks. However so saying it gave it a comfy homely feel despite being a large group hotel. Had it been pristine perhaps it would have spoiled it in the event. It was my first stay in Tunisia and I was open minded indeed, my first experience of an all inclusive style.
Food was from buffet, but for me, an admitted greedy and large person to whom this subject can make or break a holiday, that and staff, superb, 100%. The bar and lads serving also 100%, and lager beer great. BUT beware, the local whisky / spirits are absolute rubbish. Local wines very pleasant indeed.
I speak good French which despite the hotel staff being good with English I had a lot of fun. Great guys and gals. My room was lovely spacious and comfortable with good air-con. Again the room cleaners were friendly, girls with whom banter could be enjoyed in French.
I found the Hammamet shopkeepers everywhere offensive to the extreem in the touting and stalking methods, and indeed persistant to the point of me telling them to go forth and multiply many times. (I am 6'1" and big build) The alleged waiter who comes to you, and 'works at your hotel' demanding 10Dr until tonight, was also told in no uncertain terms he was a liar and con man.
The tours on offer were good value giving me all I wanted. The reps excellent. But the country seen from a bus window is litter ridden, obviously generally poor, and I didn't like to see sheep being butchered on the roadside next to dusty areas or motor shops.
In short, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, assuming it remains the same for their visit.
