Not up to the usual Hilton standard
Stayed here for 5 nights on business in February 08 on a ludicrously expensive corporate rate (almost 50% more than the highest flexible rate on the Hilton website). First impresssions were good, checked in quickly and my Hilton Honnors gold status was acknowledged with a room upgrade. Sadly no executive rooms here so it was just to a deluxe room. I did however receive fruit and wine in my room. The room itself was OK although a little smaller than some but nicely furnished with an LCD television. I discovered that the main room light and one of the bedside lights needed the lamps replacing. This was reported but only the bedside light got fixed during my stay so it was a little dark of an evening. The worst part of the room was the bathroom - it tooks ages to get any hot water out of the shower and then it lasted only a few minutes before going cold. The washbasin taps produced little more than a dribble of water. Again reported but could not be fixed during my stay. Speaking to colleagues it would seem to be a common problem in some rooms. The hotel is situated just off the motorway which is handy for business but not so good for visiting Warwick itself as it is a fair way out of the centre with nothing much around apart from a Holiday inn Express and pub just opposite. Found the buffet restaurant to be very expensive for dinner and suggest using the pub opposite which also has a carvery. Room service was the usual Hilton fare and delivered promptly although one night the wrong food was delivered and I found that I had been charged for this when I checked out. This was resolved quickly once the checks were examined. The breakfast buffet was very good. I've stayed at a few Hiltons over the past 12 months and overall found this to be an average hotel but not quite up to the usual Hilton standards in some areas.
Definition of BUFFET
The rooms were lovely and staff at reception were friendly. The restaurant was definitely an experience we do not wish to repeat. Our room deal came with breakfast and a dinner. We were told that it would be a buffet dinner. However during dinner time, a very agitated manager came up to our table to say "Excuse me, Can I explain the meaining "Buffet" to you? You are entitled to take only one serving of food from the counter". And he walked away without waiting for our response. What followed would make good script for "fawlty towers". We managed to enquire through a 2nd manager who said "Sure you can go for second and third helpings. Who told you that you cannot?". This was followed by the 1st manager (Antonio) coming back to implied that we obviously did not know the meaning of the word "buffet" and had the audacity to ask us where was the last place we had a buffet. He only back down when we calmly told him that we just came fr a 4-days stay at London Hilton and had buffets there too!
great new years treat
Having stayed at the Hilton Leicester and been very dissapointed I was dreading my stay at the Hilton Warwick, however it was really enjoyable and a great way to welcome in the new year! I arrived at about 5pm and was greeted by a friendly lady at reception I was checked in quickly and given my key-card. I booked 1 family deluxe room (2 adults and a 13 yr old) and one standard room (for an 18 yr old). The family room was located in the castle wing (room 267) and was very nice and clean, it had a double bed, a single bed and a single sofa bed so it could of quite easily slept 2 adults and 2 kids. The beds were VERY comfortable and I got a very good nights sleep. The family clubroom also had a basket on the desk whch contained 2 small bottles of spring water, 1 large bottle of spring water, 2 chocolate bars, 2 cereal bars and 2 hot chocolates which I thought was a nice touch. The standard room was also clean and nicely decorated(room 259). Both of the rooms were very quiet and had lovely views of the countryside from the windows. I booked to attend the family new years party which began at 7:30 so I had just enough time to have a swim before the party. I went down to the livingwell pool and was told the pool was full but they would phone me when they had enough space, they phoned me within 5 minutes of me arriving back at my room and so I went down to the pool and was suprised to see the pool was empty and so I had it all to myself for an hour or so! The pool is on the small side but ok. The new years family party was brilliant! I had a great time. The food was lovely and all cooked very well. The restaurant had just been done up and was really nice. I see another review commented on the fact that there were a few foreign waiters in the restaurant this is true but they spoke perfect english and were very polite and helpful! The Hilton warwick is a great hotel and I look forward to returning soon! Bedrooms - 8/10 staff - 9/10 service - 9/10 bathroom - 7/10 breakfast - 10/10 restaurant food - 10/10 comfort rating - 9/10 leisure facilites - 7/10 total = 69/80
Great value and convenient location
Only stayed at the Hilton for one night, but was a good experience all round. Got a good advance deal at 65 pounds including buffet breakfast for two, cheaper than at some very ordinary B&Bs around the UK. We arrived very early (c.10am) and were refused check-in, but they did offer to store our bags and lugged them all into safe-keeping until we came back later. Reception staff were generally very friendly and helpful, though seemed to suffer from understaffing at peak check-in and check-out times leading to some angst amongst the queues of people at the desk... Room was fairly large, clean and comfortably appointed. Parking is close by but seems odd to charge three pounds for it, should just be part of the room rate for anyone staying there (rather than, say, at a conference which seems common here). Buffet breakfast was typical chain hotel fare, but nothing wrong with that for the price we paid (i.e. nothing). No rush to check-out here with 12pm checkouts standard practice. Hotel is only over a couple of levels so rooms are easily accessible too. Overall, very happy with this hotel for the reasonable price we paid. You can get a decent feed over the road at the Porridge Pot pub/bar at a fraction of the advertised prices in the Hilton's own restaurant.
Nice hotel
Overall a nice hotels. The bar/restaurant have recently been refurbished and are very comfortable. The rooms have also been refurbished although the bed was particularly uncomfortable (you can feel the springs through the mattress. Service in general was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was excellent. Location is OK with a pub over the road and right beside a bus stop which takes you in to Warwick. Car park charged at £3 a day. Leisure facilities OK, but pool very small and no jacuzzi.
Fair Price, Nice Facilities
The Hilton Warwick is a very nice facility with convenient access to Warwick, Stratford and the surrounding environs. The hotel is easy to get to, right off the M40 Warwick junction, and it has large rooms and modern appointments. The pool and fitness facility looked nice (albeit modest by U.S. standards), but I was only in for a couple nights on business and did not have an opportunity to use them. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The bar was spacious and conducive to conversation despite the crowd and the Rugby World Cup match on TV. There is nothing that I would identify as a problem or an issue in terms of cleanliness, friendliness or support at the Hilton Warwick. I would highly recommend the Hilton Warwick to any business travelers in the area, as well as to any tourists looking to explore the area. For those on a budget it might be a stretch, but otherwise I think this hotel is great option for the area.
As good as last time
This was our second stay at the Warwick Hilton. There have been a couple of changes since we were last there 3 years ago. To get a bit more cash in the coffers, the hotel now charges £3 a day/night to park your car. This to me seems a complete rip off, and only a money making scheme. The excuse that I was given, is that peole park there, and then go into Warwick. Don't believe a word of it. The second change is to the dining room. It had re opened on the day of our arrival. Very light and spacious. A certain positive for this hotel. Reception. Very helpful. Always smiling. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Rooms. Usual Hilton standard. I think that these have had an overhaul as well. Very clean and well presented. Food. I felt that it was above average, but a bit on the pricey side. The carvery was always well stocked, and the staff seemed very happy to serve you your meal. HOWEVER!!! Yet another Hilton rip off!! A latte coffee was £ 3.85!!!! That is even more than you pay at the motorway services. And you don't even get a chocolate or biscuit!! The bar prices are pretty horrific as well. Did not check out the leisure facilities so can't comment. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and we would return, once we have saved enough money for the parking and the coffee!!
cotswolds tourist
Spent two nights here 6th-7th Sept 2007 on a coach party touring the cotswolds. Price we paid to the tour operator included dinner bed and breakfast. The hotel attracts a lot of coach parties. It is large modern and comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner is a buffet arrangement and is OK - dinner is a carvery. There is a small gym well stocked with equipment and a small swimming pool. Overnight there is a constant hum of traffic noise and even with the window open the room was very warm. On arrival the reception was friendly but no offer of help with luggage. The bar is extremely expensive - nearly £6 for a small glass of table wine and I was short changed by several pounds. The barman knew what he had done and when I shouted at him he immediately brought me the correct change.
Good value, handy location
Stayed here for two nights in August during the ongoing refurbishment. We did not find it a major inconvenience, although the bar and restaurant areas are somewhat reduced and lacking in atmosphere. This is a good location for visiting Warwick and Stratford, and we found the hotel and rooms clean and the reception staff helpful and efficient. If you do not choose to eat in the hotel, which due to the reduced facilities we did not, there is a large pub/restaurant just next door (adjacent to the Holiday Inn). This probably provides a better atmosphere for small children especially. Limited alternative amenities apart from the aforementioned. Good for an overnight stay of a couple of nights, and good value during our stay.
nice for a short break
We stayed here from the 31st Aug - 2nd Sept (Fri - Sun) for my husband's birthday. The restaurant is still undergoing re-furbishment and so the dining area is in one of the conference suites. I know other reviews have been critical of this but we found no negative issues as we were only Bed & Breakfast so not sure of the evening meal quality. In the long term the new restaurant will no doubt be a brilliant asset & I'm sure everyone would complain more if the hotel was never updated! The leisure facilities were good - very clean but disappointed with no jacuzzi. You must ensure you ask on arrival for your car park pass. I'm sure no-one can be silly enough to pay the £20 a day rates without question though.......would they?? Warwick town centre is only about 2.5 miles from the hotel & the castle is on the way - well worth a visit but at £18 per person for entry I would advise you have some BOGOF vouchers! There is a Holiday Inn across the road with a Family Restaurant next to it called the Porridge Pot - they do a lovely carvery every night, well recommended.
