hotel rooms are very clean, plenty of storage great staff.ideally located right over the road to the beach.great restaurants all nearby and charlies bar is great, also theres the bus stop and taxi rank directly opposite, lovely continental breakfasts at this hotel,we were stuffed, free range eggs were yummy, all in all a gem.

  • Advice: if at all you are not happy with your room, ask the lovely girl on reception if she can do anything,we got our room changed, she could not do more for us

Hostal is idealy placed close to beach.
No staff on Reception after 4.30pm room key collected from bar. Therefore unable to raise queries. No room cleaning on a Tuesday
No lifts and 54 steps to 3rd Flr.Rooms have ceiling fans but but remain very warm. Only the shaver socket seems be the only power supply. Food was hit & miss Salads good but meat and veg overcooked. Meat always seemed to tainted by a sauce.Roast Turkey turned out to Turkey legs only Deserts were jelly creme caramel, cake, melon all very basic and very cheap to buy in. All evening meal drinks have to be purchased from the Bar.I reported a broken WC flush broken in the changing rooms by the Pool no effort was made to repair and it looked as if it had been like it for sometime. My Wife lost her Engagement ring on our last day believed to be in the Hostal and request was made to record this loss and description in their Diary and we were informed they didn't have one. Not good Customer Service.

  • Advice: an extension lead and probably book Bed & Breakfast only

Recently stayed at this great little hotel and found it to be a home from home. Leeanne on reception made us feel very welcome and always spoke on passing, the staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Maids cleaned room daily, changed towels every other and beds in the middle of our 2 weeks. The hotel is right across from the beach with its lovely warm water!. We only used the pool area once but it was clean plenty of beds and normaly quiet. Our room was on the first floor facing the road so avoiding direct sunlight, helping to keep it cool along with the ceiling fan. It was a decent size with twin beds and a spacious, clean shower room. The whole hotel is spotless and the small bar area is great for just sitting at the large windows with a drink and watching the world go by. Drink prices at the hotel are the cheapest around the resort. Food at the hotel was surprisingly good for a 2* and there was always plenty of it. All in all a great place to spend your holiday. Enjoy.

just returned from the Mar Y Huerta, spent 2 wks there, hotel is absolutely spotless, very friendly staff, rooms cleaned daily apart from tues, but sheets only changed once a wk. we had no air con so hired a fan 20euros a wk and believe me its worth it as we were on the top floor and it was boiling. nice pool area but not suitable for little ones as its quite deep, must be honest I was'nt too keen on the food but there was always plenty, we ate out once or twice, the marvent next door is lovely, Es Cana is a lovely resort, loads of bars, charlies is good with the tribute bands but we preferred the red lion, english pub and great music and karoake.. My friend and her hubby stayed in the panorama hotel not far from me it looked fab, but she cud never get a sunbed and her hubby hated it there and spent most of his time at our hotel, so wud i recommend it yes absolutely, perfect location, literally u cross the road and your on the beach. fabulous

we are just back and the hotel was great. staff are friendly and helpful and the maid comes every day, so the room is spotless (as is the rest of hotel).
close to all the nightlife and beach with something for everyone.
the only issue with the hotel is that there is no air con, so the rooms can get very very warm.
there is a lovley italian next to a german bar (cant remember the name), and it is beautiful.

Stayed at Mar Y Huerta, half board , breakfast (8.30-10.00am) limited but okay for the price can purchase a english breakfast for @ 5 euros, but most nearby cafes and bars do it cheaper, evening meal very good always plenty of variety, even for those who came down late (7.30-9.00pm). Rooms small but accommodates a limited space for wardrobe and cupboard space, only one plug socket per room, bathroom not ventilated leading to sauna room effect and limited size, some rooms do not have ensuite, but adjoining rooms opposite for the occupants use.The pool very well presented and clean, the shower room clean but smell from drains does happen, however would advise sun lounges plenty, but the lack of air and beeze due to the location of seating area not applicable for elderly or those who have breathing and mobility problems. the staff very helpful , and accommodating - location very central and can cause problems with noise from street outside and nearby cafe / bars - would go back to Es Cana, but would check prices for neary hotels also,.

  • Advice: family friendly, beach a bit below par but could be improved, english tastes well catered for
  • Activities: La Perla - Tres Equinas (three corners) - Mar Vents - Es Pins Bahia - Popeyes

Just back from a most enjoyable week at Mar Y Heurta. Fantastic location, great weather & the nicest staff i have ever encountered on a package holiday.
Mar y Heurta was spotless, very clean room & lovely bathroom with power shower. The pool was very clean & the area areound the pool cleaned every evening.
The staff were extremely helpful (Leeanne the receptionist) & always greeted you with a smile.
The local fiesta was on when we were in Es Cana & it was lovely to watch the different parades & fabulous fireworks.
It is 1 euro 20 cents to get the bus into Santa Eualia which is a 10 minute journey away.
I have already booked to return next year & can't wait.

just got back and would like to let you know wot a lovely hotel this is its a 2 star rating but myself and everyone i spoke to thinks its more a 3 every thing was lovely and clean the bar,the patio, the pool, the dining room, and the rooms. the rooms had a nice bathroom with walk in shower.the evening meal although not great was o.k there was always somthing you could eat, there was a fish dish meat dish pasta dish and always chips potatos and veg, the hotel is in a great spot right by the beach and close to the bars and shops the only down side was this hotel has no lift so its a bit of a drag walking up the stairs especialy if your on the top floor like we were . if you book this hotel you wont be disapointed

My self and my family of 11 arrived at the mar-y-hureta hostal es cana to find out that my mother inlaw who is disabled was put on 1st floor and obviously couldnt climb flights of stairs, after a lot of complaing an reasoning she was eventually moved to ground floor to find a rat on balcony dead but not removed untill 6 days of being in room
My room:
walked in to room with fiance and 2 daughters had to go into bathroom in order to close main door as right next 2 each other.1 plug socket for all eletricals bed broken 4 times not from action fixed by myself.Walked on 2 bacony leaned hands on balcony rail to find it was really losse a few pushes would fall really un-safe,bed room really cramped no room 2 move.
The food:
Tried the food first 3 days seemed like a nice choice untill finding out it was the same thing every couple of days but if you order of menu good selection but no food of menu was not avalible in resturuant so had 2 eat out a lot which was really expensive.
Thomas Cook:
No help what so ever fiance needed assistance at zodic pool around corner from hostal the first aider was really helpful and knew what 2 do but nose bleed would not stop so they called a british nurse from the galleno clinic over the road she called a emergancy ambulance but minutes after canclled it for her own ambulance service from the galleno which was charged as other was free,we were told that 1 of the ambulances was picking up a man who had a heartatack so they would have to send the other ambulance,we waited 4 about an hour for ambulance to find out that the ambulance did a 5 mile detour to pick her up with the heart atack victim in the back which i would think was priority to get the hospital dont know if heaart atack victim died would like woman to contact us through thompson.
we were sitting down eating supper to see this so called british nusre walking to hotel to tell us we were in debt to her and the clinic even though we were insured but we made the mistake of beliving Thomas Cook who said our insurance covered everything but i recommend you use thrird party insurance.
Every day from that day this nurse who wanted to be our friend ended up being our rival and storker everywere we went she was there "were is my money" she would say no kidding. At breakfast she was there and diner (no joke)the nurse took my fiances passport (WHICH IS ILLEGAL)told by national health docter who said do not use this surgurey because all they want is money the ambulance driver laughed when we told him and we asked why he laughed and continued laughing and spoke spanish so we did'nt know what they were saying.
We were told by regulars not 2 use this clinic.Use the national health service of spain but make sure you got your card or good insurance not thomas cook insurance
avoid the galleno clinic even though they have a british nurse she wants your money we eventually got her away by getting my mother inlaw 2 ring the insurance company which cost her 70 pounds in phone charges to tell her that they will fax her the confermation that we were covered with insurance.
ok holiday but never again at this hostal and never again at this clinic.

The hostel was very basic, but was extremely clean. I have no complaints about the accomadation as for the price it was adequate. When we arrived there was a note with our key telling us not to unpack as we were being moved rooms the next day.(due to a problem with over booking) Although this was slightly annoying as we couldn't find any of our clothes living out of a suitcase for one night, we were moved to a much larger room and were given a sea-view and a free bottle of house wine, as well as free use of the safe and iron for our room because of the disruption to our holiday.
The food was ok, breakfast consisted of two choices of cereal, boiled eggs, plenty of bread, yoghurt, jam, cheese ham, coffee, tea and fruit juices. The evening meal was a buffet, and there was always fresh salad and melon. However if you are a vegetarian you will find it difficult to find something to eat, as the vegetarian option was usually a 'side order' such as grilled tomatoes or mushrooms. However after speaking to the receptionist she told us that if there was nothing we liked on the menu she would ask the chef to make an omlette of jacket potato.
The pool was clean, but VERY cold!! Plenty of sunloungers!!!!
Weather was really good, in september, only one day that was overcast. I would probably visit again but would consider just bed & brakfast, as evening meals weren't brilliant.
Good Holiday!

After 2 weeks away with my family we were glad to be home.Myself and my family have spent 18 yrs visiting the island of Ibiza(Es Cana)and stayed in many places this being the worst where do we start. After arriving to find myself asthmatic on the second floor with 4 flights of stairs as no lifts and 2 children and as pushchair my partner went to the receptionist who was very helpfull and said would move us we then had to share a room with 3 other members of our party over in a appartment over looking the pool which was ok untill the next morning to discover the sewerage smell coming from pool toilets. We had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which made no difference to us there was 7 people having to share one loo and one shower as the others were broken we informed the receptionist on several occasions and still no joy.we were told towels changed every other day but we were lucky to get them changed once when asking we were given ripped ones more than once. The maid never worked a tuesday or any other day for that as our room was never swept. We had mildew growin up the shower curtain on the shower that worked i had to clean the bathroom because never got done.My Mum and Aunt had a room in the hostel itself on ground floor as mum disabled shower door fell off and ceiling fan made a restless noise from day one they complained every day and still no joy in the end were given a stand up fan. After a few days discovered a dead rat on the balcony.
THE FOOD
The food was disgusting we wouldnt even have fed it to our cat breakfast was toast ham cheese croissants and some cereal looked like bird seed.Supper was no better always the same salad and soup.Always some meat in sauce never said what meat always some sort of fish on 2 occasions the fish was cold in middle still frozen on many occasions was meatballs/rice/pasta every other day we spent alot of money eating out.
The staff were so polite and helpfull a pleasure to be around we were told what do you expect for a hostel by the rep which we found quiet rude as we have hostels at home in cardiff and are more up market than the mar-y-huerta
We will definettly be visiting the resort again but will never recommmend the mar-y-huerta to anyone
