Mar Bella Apartments

After reading a previous review, we were not quite sure what to expect at Mar Bella apts, having made a late booking with very little info. However, we found the apartment to be absolutely spotless and beautifully presented. We were greeted by the owner who was quiet, but polite and friendly. There was no air conditioning, but each room has a perfectly adequate ceiling fan.
The pool was lovely and clean, as was the poolside. We had a maid service three times during our stay. At first we thought that we were a little isolated and would have a long trek to the beach and shops, but found that a small track led us directly to the beach and lots of shops, bars and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We had 4 children with us and found that the older ones were a little limited in the resort. We wouldn't take teenagers for a fortnight - a week was enough for them.
We went on the boat trip to Formentera which leaves from Es Cana daily. The boat ride was lovely and Formentera was truly beautiful. But we really wish that we had been told when booking that there is absolutely nothing there, including any kind of shade. There was a really expensive restaurant and a very small private bar which served burgers and drinks etc., but at 7.5 euros for a partially cooked burger, this too was very expensive. Our day would have been so different if we had been told to take food and drink and a parasol (and extra towels to sit on!). Instead we, and others on the trip, roasted in blazing temperatures for 6+ hours and couldn't wait to get off the island. Be Prepared!!

This was a last minute booking but we were very pleasantly surprised by the holiday. We were a bit apprehensive about the quality of the apartments as it is only 2 star but the studio apartment we had was fine with a ceiling fan, which was a god-send in the very hot weather. The owner was very helpful and polite and the rep was good too. There are supermarkets within 2 to 3 minutes walk to buy food/drink and everything is within easy range.
We just wanted a very quiet holiday which these apartments provided. I don't think these would be so good for a young family as there was only a small pool and no bar or cafe but this suited us as an older couple.
However, the two beaches were only a five-minute walk away and these were smashing with plenty of sunbeds and cafes at the back of each beach. We could have used the electric hob and microwave to cook meals but we chose to eat out each evening. There weren't any first-class restaurants but the ones we used were good enough and a good price too.
In all, if you want a big, bustling set of apartments with plenty of night-life then this is not the place for you but if you want a relaxing holiday then these are ideal.
We would happily return to Es Cana and to the Mar Bella Apartments.

Went to the Mar Bella apts this year and booked on the net with no real info.
On arrival was met by the owner who showed us to our rather basic but very clean and functional room. Would be an idea if you are arriving during the night or late Sunday to get a bottle of water from the airport, as there is no welcome pack (water/milk etc).
Poolside is very good and clean but no where to buy drinks /snacks. But there is a bar less than 100 metres from the complex.
Wouldn’t really recommend for families with older children but is perfect for parents with toddlers who want a safe quiet holiday.
Entertainment wise a 10 minute walk will find you at the Zodiac complex where the food is fantastic and plenty of it and after a meal head to Popeyes bar for a game of bingo (if that’s your thing) or just chill with a beer or 7. Above average entertainment but is open till very late and after their head to the disco just below (on the last night I got out of there and the sun was well in the sky).
For later than normal nights Popeyes/Grannies/disco but can’t remember what it was called!
