On I going on my first holiday abroad alone and wanted to go somewhere with history and something to fill my time.
On my first day there after checking into the hotel which was fairly basic but clean. It was also right in the heart of everything so I could shop all day which I love to do. I did shop on my first day there despite being a bit tired.
On the 2nd day after a full breakfast I went to meet my coach as I was off to climb Vesuvius and visit Pompeii. Arriving at the foot of Vesuvius we took a cable chair (which was literally a chair on a cable) most of the way up then we walked the rest of the way. When getting to the top the view was magnificent (plenty of photos taken).
We were also told the volcano was expected to have a big eruption in 2008 and that most of Sorrento will be wiped out (which I hope is not true). Next off to Pompeii which was amazing. The bodies which were covered in rock hard ash were just astounding. I was really surprised at how well they were preserved.
Also a funny thing I saw was a man selling orange juice on the street shouting cheaper than Asda, didn't know they got Asda in Italy. The rest of my holiday was booked full with a ride to the Blue Grotto, trip on a boat around Sorrento and a day trip to Capri which was amazing.
In my spare time I spent around 600 euros just in the shops which are very friendly and a lot of staff which speak enough English for you to get by. All in all a fantastic holiday, so much so I'm off again in September with the same airline, hotel and trips.

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and find it extremely friendly and welcoming.
It is situated right at the end of a very busy street in the centre of Sorrento and can be quite noisy during rush hour traffic (which is most of the time).
However, it does have a nice swimming pool and terrace at the back which is ideal to relax after a busy day shopping or sightseeing.
The food is good, not fancy but nicely presented and plenty of it. Breakfast is continental, rolls, croissants tea and coffee and dinner is three courses which you have to select from a menu at breakfast.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The rooms are very clean and both times we have had air-conditioning in ours. Some rooms face over the pool so are quieter but the rooms at the front face out over the town, which can be very interesting at times.
Overall, we would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the heart of Sorrento, because the location is excellent for the station and ferry, which are good means of transport for exploring the area.
If you like a tranquil holiday then this hotel is not for you.
