Just returned from Club Tonga and have nothing but praise for it.Food was terrific with lots of choice as wife is a vegeterian.Entertainment was excellent with numerous activities during the day for adults and children. At night the mini disco was superb for the kids and the acts were really good with plenty of humour.I'd strongly recommend this hotel for your next holiday.

I am only writing this review because of all the bad reviews that I read before going on this holiday! remember that most people only write bad reviews!!
I must admit that after reading the 'bad' reviews I almost pulled out of going. I am glad I didn't. This is in the majority a family hotel, but me and the missus went alone this time and had a great time, although we will take the kids next year.
What grates me is that people expect a 5 star holiday when paying for a 3 star hotel! For the very low price you pay for an AI holiday this was very good value for money. Ok, there is a problem with the lift capacity but we were on the second floor so did not concern us. My suggestion would be to request a low floor when booking. However, how many times to you go back and forth from your room in a day???
The rooms were clean if not basic but all you do is change and sleep in them so no problem there. If like me you suffer from the heat at night then you will miss the air con, but there is an electrical shop across the road which I bought a fan from for 20 euros which kept me cool all night long. A small price to pay! The TV has various channels but not all in English, you get the norm, Sky news, Eurosport and CNN. Luckily the Olympics were on when we stayed! The rooms are cleaned everyday and the maids did a fantastic job.
The food was great and in plentiful supply. yes it did get repetitive but technically its free and you can have as much as you want! cuttlery and tables were very clean and cleared as soon as anyone left to make space for the next people. It was never an issue getting a table. I must admit we ate out every night because thats what we like doing but a quick sneak in the restaurant saw plenty of choice.
The snacks and drinks throughout the day were great and the queue's were not that long. We left the hotel most nights about 9 to go out and always managed to get a drink within about 4 minutes at the most. I cant speak for after that but as for comments that they only serve 2 drinks per person to save on costs is nonsense! they do it to keep the queue moving as quickly as possible. The measures on spirits are enormous and any drink you want they have.
Germans? yes, but many other nationalities as well and there was NO arrogance from anyone. everyone got on well and was polite considering the language barriers! (dont worry about it)
You wont get a sunbed unless you are up very early, not because of germans but because there was no-where near enough sunbeds for the total guests staying there, but there is grassed areas that you can lie on with plenty of table and chairs scattered around. If not go to the beach which is 5-10 minutes walk away and as long as you are down there by 11 you will get a sunbed. 8.50 euros for two beds and a permanent parasol. The sea is like a warm bath in August! If you are worried about missing lunch at the hotel they will provide a packed lunch (free of charge) any day you want!
The entertainment for all is very good if you are into that stuff and even the adults knew the words to the kids songs by the end of the week!
The resort itself is lovely with fantastic restaurants and bars with no lager louts!! An extremely clean resort with families at mind but also for a romantic break! Ahhh!
All in all a fantastic holiday of which we will return. Dont listen to the sceptics!!!! For a 3 star this is great, go for it!
regards
the biggest sceptic of all!!!

2 adults and 2 kids aged 13 and 9 had a very good holiday. The kids want to go back again. The evening entertainment was very good and very funny at times. The kids even got into bingo. The room was cleaned every day. The food was very nice and there was plenty of choice, you could of had a salad or meat and 2 veg or both I suppose the comments about the food being the same every day where made by the people who ate everything. I would have my egg and bacon at breakfast, then a salad at lunch and then meat potatoes and vegetables (different meat and veg every day) followed by melon. There was pizza, hotdogs, burgers during the day as well what more could anyone want. I haven't mentioned soup, pasta and fish, french bread, ice cream, and other desserts. You don't have to eat everything otherwise it would be the same every day. The kids loved the swimming pools. We also went go carting, hydro park and the beach a couple of time and a vist to marineland. It was very very hot and the only small complaint I would have was that at night we only had a ceiling fan keeping us cool. My husband slept on the balcony. The longest I waited for a drink was 10 minutes in the evening, but in July/August the most busy time of the year you would expect that.

Just returned today from our holiday at club tonga. Me, the wife and 2 children had a 2 week holiday and after reading the reviews, thought i would add here what i thought. The hotel was clean and tidy, maids working hard every day and keeping the rooms clean and changed regularly. Entertainers were absolutely brilliant with miniclub in the day and kiddies disco every night it kept the children entertained. Every night following kids disco is bingo, and the guy who hosts it, is one of the best entertainers i've ever met, Then after that comes the main show, and apart from a couple of really cheesy shows, they were fantastic. Queues for the bar were quite long at times, and sometimes has to wait 10 mins approx to get a drink. The worst thing for me was the food, as after a week i and all the people we went with had had enough. There was plenty of it, but it lacked choice and presentation. Staff were mostly friendly, apart from 1 guy who served in the bar( you just could not make him smile). Pools were excellent, but we found that after going out by the pool at approx 10am, pepe was still cleaning them and all the kids were sat waiting to get in, and all pepe kept saying was " keep back". When we have been in other hotels, the pools have been ready by 8am. Overall 8/10 a week would in my book be long enough, oh and as for the sunbeds, we had to get a member of our party to get them at 7am everyday otherwise you had no chance. So to sum up our visit.... Food 5/10 Hotel 8/10 Entertainment 10/10 Pools 9/10 Bar 7/10. ps on considering how our holiday went, i do not think that we will be returning to this particular hotel.

dont listen to the moaning brigade....we (me my wife and two girls age 7 and 4)have just returned and have had a ball....food was good ..rooms were spotless...the neverending drinks queues that we heard about were actually pretty fast..never struggled for a table or had dirty cutlery even though dining room was always busy..lifts werent the best but we were on 7th floor and it wasnt the end of the world waiting a few minutes or walking up the odd time....snacks were good during the day and there was enough variety for us for dinner....kids loved the mini disco and the shows at night which the animacion team put 110% into...really cant speak highly enough of these guys ....pools were great and there were lots of loungers.....all in all a great holiday ..would definately go back

This was my first holiday with my partner. I enjoyed the holiday but was glad to come home after only a week stay. I could not have stayed for another week. The food seemed fine for the first couple of days and then just got boring as we found it was the same no matter what time we ate. I would not recomend going for the early breakfast which is before 730- we decided to go on an excursion and needed an early breakfast, we got there and all that was available was stale bread.
The rooms were very basic with a bed and table. The bathroom was not very clean when we arrived and had to wash out the bath before I used it. Although we were promised a pool view, we recieved a view of the roof.
I think the hotel is very small compared to the amount of people it tries to accomodate. We found that we had to get a table at night round about 7 just to be able sit outside. overall, the entertainment was excellent, 10 out of 10 for them. They worked really hard to provide a mixed entertainment program.
Lastly, some other holidaymakers spoiled our holiday. The noise in the hotel on a night was horrendus with kids running backwaards and forwards along the corridors. Where were their parents!!!!!! We also found that people were too drunk and always rowdy. I dont think I would go back to this hotel just because i think it is a little overcrowded.

Hi, Just a few words of advise for anyone considering/booked a holiday to Hotel Club Tonga.
The Hotel was very clean and the beds were made on a daily basis. Food is good but could be a bit repetetive if you were staying for 2 weeks on all inclusive basis.
One of the things that really stood out was that after a short time of being there I felt like I was on the set of Casualty. Lots of people on crutches, bandaged etc. I soon found out the cause. The tiles immediately surrounding the swimming pool are extremely slippery. Apparently these were changed about a year ago and in the first week of them being changed there were 6 accidents. I myself witnessed a young child slipping and banging her head on the side of the swimming pool. So a word of warning, make sure you are wearing flip-flops or something on your feet when around the poolside (especially kiddies). I did but a couple of times when I didnt it felt very dangerous.

Just returned from a two week holiday at Hotel Club Tonga! Myself, Husband and two children aged 12 and 9.
You get what you pay for and the price we paid having booked May 2007 was definately worth every penny. The Club Tonga itself was certainly very well placed in the middle of the resort within easy distance from the beautiful beach, bars, shops etc.
The entertainment team certainly worked their socks off in the two weeks we spent there, providing evening entertaintment which included comeny sketch night, which was really funny! Oliver, Saturday night fever etc. In the two weeks were were there I don't think any of the team had a day/night off!! Would have thought with the size of the place the management would have been able to bring in other acts to allow them a hard earned nnight off!! During the day they had plently games which included Volley Ball, Darts, Table Tennis, pistol/rifle shooting and football for the adults. They also ran a mini club for the kids which seemed to be plenty variety, although my two are at the ages where they were quite happy to spend their time in the lovely pools. The pools were cleaned every morning and sun beds, chairs and tables were a plenty. First holiday we have been on where we didn't have to get up at 7am to reserve beds! Plenty room to spread out on the grass area around the pools. No parasols are available although there are plenty trees in which you can shade under!
The only complaint we would have would be the lifts, we were on the 10th floor, with a lovely view of the sea, too high to walk up the stairs, however at certain times of the day it was impossible to get a lift, you had no option but to walk, the lifts were too small and too hot!
No air con in the bedrooms was another problem, making it very difficult to sleep at night, having the balcony door open made no difference ... too noisy!
Food was a plenty with the snack bar open for chips, toasties, pizza, salad and the grill open for burgers and hot dogs, good idea to have food area outside saved having to go into the restaurant at lunchtimes. Staff, apart from a couple of bar staff were all really friendly, although I was so glad to get home and have my drink in a glass instead of a flimzy plastic cup!!
The restaurant at any time of the day was really noisy, if you have small children just be careful they don't get crushed in the stampeed for the food! Grown adults pushing their way through to get their food .... there was of course plenty for everyone! The salad selection was always fresh and plenty variety! Tables were packed in too tight, the air con was switched off so I would recommend try and get a table either in each corner or at a window because it is very hot in there!
Overall, we had a great two weeks at Club Tonga, it was definately worth every penny!

Just returned from a our family holiday having spent two weeks in the hotel Club Tonga. Although the hotel was clean and the food was ok there are a number of reasons why we will not be returning. The hotel is not equipped to cope with the number of people who stay there. There are only two small lifts for guests on the higher level floors to use which results in huge queues at certain times of the day. We were led to believe CLub Tonga would be an ideal hotel for our family holiday and that it would provide a fun and lively atmosphere. However, we found it to be very rowdy and sensed an uneasy feeling as youths who had clearly had too much to drink strutted around the hotel at night like they owned the place. Although the holiday was all inclusive we chose to spend as much time away from the hotel as possible as the atmosphere was just manic. The behaviour of many guests around the pool was so boistrous that it was dangerous especially for young children. There was alot of bombing and diving into the pool with little or no thought for others. I found having to stand in a queue for fifteen to twenty minutes to get a drink degrading and being served by rude and arrogant staff a totally miserable experience. There was alot of drunken behaviour which was allowed to get out of hand despite various guests making complaints. Youths throwing bottles and cups of water over balconies did not recieve a warning nor did the louts who threw a chair and table over their balcony. I would not recommend Club Tonga to anybody who is planning a holiday with young children or anybody who is looking for a relaxing holiday.

ENTERTAINMENT: Brilliant for children, and thats including english children! Adult entertainment was limited in the evening, however in the day good.
FOOD: A bit of a let down as pretty much the same thing everyday. Snack bar good throughout the day thought.
ROOMS: Basic without air con, however did have a fan which helped (although what do you expect with a 3* all inclusive hotel at the price).
MAIDS: Cleaned very well and were very very friendly. Only thing is that our towels were not changed daily.
BAR: Waited just over 5 minutes at the most in the day however longer in the evening.
STAFF: The entertainment staff were brilliant and spoke very good English, as did the reception staff, restaurant staff were not so friendly and most didn't speak English at all and couldn't even understand when asking for sauces.
POOLS: Kept very clean, saw all pools being cleaned every morning. Two large pools and one small for babies/toddlers with plenty of rooms.
PEOPLE: Quite a lot of Germans and French, however wasn't really a problem as they certainly were not as rude as many other reviews said. Lots of families with children for your own to make friends with.
SUNBEDS: Party of 5 so needed sunbeds, found at least 4 everyday apart from one during a week stay. And this wasn't at 7am, around 10am.
OVERALL: Overall this a brilliant holiday, however I would not recommend to adults without children as a lot of them running around and playing in pools. Only let down was the food really.

Just returned from 9 days at the Hotel Tonga with my partner and her 2 teenage daughters. Was a bit apprensive after reading several negative reviews but need not have worried as we all had a great holiday. Its a big hotel with many differant nationalities and we did find some of the French and German guests to be arrogant and rude at times. as for the hotel itself we found it to be kept very clean and the maid service was particully good rooms cleaned every day to a very high standard towells changed every day. The food was very well presented and varied although the dessert choices were a bit limited and repetative. We occaisionaly had to que at the bar but no longer than expected for a big hotel. I found the staff were very polite and were only less so to guests who were rude to them and who can blame them. The pool and surrounding area was nice and clean and the garden areas good if you wanted some shade. The entertainment team were brilliant the guy in charge was a totaq fruit loop but a super entertainer. All in all cant fault the hotel excellent value for money. The resort has just about enough for all ages beach great the sea clear and warm and great for swimming. we ate out on 2 occasions and the only downpoint of our hoilday was when we eat in an english run bar called the british place the no1 pub. we went in as it advertised toad in the hole which turned out to be 2 small yorkshire puddings with a sausage placed in and my bolognase pizza was a frozen pizza base with a tin of partially reheated bolognaise sauce poured on top it was the worst meal any of us had tasted and not cheap. We also ate at a pizzarea in the same street and for the same price it was an excellent meal. All in all a good holiday although with only 1.2 euros to the pound Spain is not cheap any more but its worth it for the sunshine. Booked on the internet through Travel Republic and cannott fault it flew with Easyjet for the 1st time and they were brilliant.
