" Would love to return to this wonderful complex "

There were 7 of us on this holiday, myself Christine, Paul, Margery, Deborah, Dale, Olivia and Connie. We had a fantastic holiday, the weather was extremely hot but spent wonderful days relaxing by the pool and enjoying the animation team who were excellent.
The food was delicious, an exciting part of our holiday sampling the next tantilising menue for the day. The restaurant manager Demetrius Vobras was a cheerful welcoming face to greet us at every mealtime and he made our holiday special. Thanks also to Mr. Lambros for his friendship and help during our stay.
The hotel was very comfortable and the grounds beautiful.
We would all love to return to this hotel and complex but are very disappointed to find that we cannot book and would appreciate someone telling us what has happened to it!

" We had a relaxing holiday in the last... "

We had a relaxing holiday in the last 2 weeks before the hotel closed for the season. One of 3 in a complex about 15mins drive from Zakinthos town, the Royal Palace is typically Greek in design. Clean and comfortable, with some of the best food and drink offered at an all inclusive, in our opinion.

We hired a car twice and travelled to the beautiful sights around the island but there are some stunning views to be had from the local walks around Vasilikos, with Gerakas beach a must! Ask at the first Taverna you come to (about 5 mins walk up the road) and you'll learn about a quick walk along the coast - not for high heels, though - that lets you visit the neighbouring beaches, each only 5 mins apart but far longer if you use the roads.

We loved Zakinthos, the people were friendly, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and though we aren't really into the animation team stuff, they weren't pushy and were always cheery. Well worth a visit, and if you like the marble and chrome style hotel, book into the Palazzo. Water sports are quite expensive, but they are limited as to where they can operate due to conservation of the turtles.

" DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. Save your... "

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. Save your money and have a good holiday by staying in another resort e.g. Tsilivi. We were booked to stay at the Royal Imperial but were switched to the Royal Palace 3 days prior to departure (this happens a lot apparently). This it seems was a blessing as we met guests staying in the Imperial who said the rooms were appalling and were asking to be moved. This site has three hotels joined together Imperial, Palace, Palazzo. If you have to stay here try and get in the Palazzo as it seemed the best of the 3.

We did not think it was up to 4 star standard and did not meet the same standard as other Louis hotels. General maintenance of the properties is appalling handrails falling off, seating shabby etc. Guests are not required to wear long trousers to dinner. Staff are poorly trained and rude and if you report this to the manager in the Palazzo he is not interested.

Food is ok but very repetitive and soup was lukewarm at best. The beach is ok and lunch there is good but when we stayed the vernicula was out of order and the lift was often not working either which made getting down and up very difficult as there are many many steps. The resort is also very isolated. The entertainment team work hard but it all seemed very amateur hour and the Maxi club was not operational. We made the best of it but would never ever return.

" FORGET ALL THE MOANS BELOW - There... "

FORGET ALL THE MOANS BELOW - There are always small percentages of people who have a bad experience. I am very fussy about where I go so first I will just tell you the points you need to be aware of:

There are loads of stairs so if you have trouble walking or are disabled think again about this holiday.

You are in the middle of nowhere but we were happy with this.

OTHER THAN THAT THIS HOTEL WAS GREAT!!!!!!!

The food was lovely, the pools were nice and the rooms clean.

The beach has loads of water sports and is below the hotel. There is a lift but it only works every 15 minutes.

Kids loved it, I loved it. If you are a young couple or family YOU WILL LOVE IT.

PS BOOK A BOAT WITH MARIO YOU WILL FIND HIS LEAFLET ON THE BEACH

" Just back from a beautiful holiday... "

Just back from a beautiful holiday views were fantastic. Never been before and loved it.

It was very hot even in June 42 degrees but they had had a heat wave the week before.

The hotel was fantastic but a little out the way. We had a car so was great for us to look around the island but would of been happy staying at hotel.

The food was excellent so much to choose for everyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The first choice rep was great.

The rooms were only basic may be a 3 star but very clean and helpful maids every day.

Overall I was very pleased with my holiday. The holiday would be no good for older people, disabled, or people with illness as there were so many steps around the hotel and about 200 to the beach.

" This holiday was fabulous. The best I... "

This holiday was fabulous. The best I have ever been on and I have been to Florida! The food was excellent and the staff were friendly.
Luca, Claudio, Mary, Veronica, Ivan, And Alessandro Were The Best Entertainers!
The pool was fabulous. I really want to go back and defiantly will if I get the chance.

I recommend Zante Water Village; the yellow ride is the best!

All in all if you want a fun filled holiday, go to Louis Royal Palace!

" Myself and my family (Partner and 7... "

Myself and my family (Partner and 7 year old twins) generally thought this was a good hotel.

The Louis Royal is one of 3 other hotels on the same complex in Vasillikos. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the rooms were cleaned to a very good standard each day.

Our room was very basic and a little dull and dark and the satellite TV was great if you were German!

We went all inclusive and the variety of the food for the week was good but I don’t think I could have done 2 weeks of eating pretty much the same thing. My partner said the beer was a little weak and flat but the cocktails at the bar in the evenings certainly made up for that!

The standard of the food was good although my children did get a bit fed up with chips and fish fingers every night and in the last 2 days lived off ice-cream and French bread!

The evening entertainment was good. There was a mini disco each evening for the children and the 'adult' entertainment started around 9.30pm and Claudio and Luca should have their own comedy show...brilliant!!

There was also a good range of activities during the day for the young and old alike including water volley and poolside darts.

I would certainly go back to this hotel although it may be worth spending a little extra on a better room or alternatively we may try the sister hotel on the complex called the Palazzo as people we met from this hotel said the rooms were good.

Overall a good holiday was had by all and I would recommend this to families, couples, young and old as all are catered for.

" Beautiful surroundings, beautiful... "

Beautiful surroundings, beautiful hotel, good food, excellent customer service, what can I say, this is a great place to stay!!!! You can go see the turtles or the dolphins in a clear bottomed boat, travel round the island to see the views, visit the beach and more!

I was on crutches at the time and the staff went out of their way to make my stay more pleasurable. They have a well organised and well staffed hotel children's club. We will be going back!

" We are a family of five just returned... "

We are a family of five just returned from a weeks all-inclusive at the Louis royal palace on Zante. We booked for the Louis imperial (who’s rooms looked better on the web) but on arrival the bus dropped us at the royal palace and we were informed the imperial had closed for the season, we had only booked three weeks previously so we should have been told.

The two adjoining rooms we were given were across the grounds from the public areas of the hotel, two story accommodation blocks with rooms accessed from the outside and terraces with views of the next block, some rooms would have had sea views though. The rooms were large with sleeping and sitting areas but very bare and depressing, not what I’d hoped four star would be but maybe four star for Greece! The bathroom flooded into the bedroom on the first day when the bath plug was pulled and the overflow is in the middle of the bathroom floor. There’s also the quaint custom of not flushing paper in the toilets.

On all inclusive you can use the facilities at all three hotels anyway so we used the lobby bar at the Palazzo di Zante in the evening as the royal palace had no inside bar and it’s pretty cool in the evenings at this time of year, but probably not a problem in summer. The Palazzo di Zante seemed to have an older and more cosmopolitan clientele than the royal palace. It also had a cinema (not in use at this time), Internet access and a gym.

The properties are isolated, if you miss the second free bus into Zakynthos town at 10.30 a.m. you’re stuck for the day unless you have your own transport or sign up for an expensive trip. We were with med hotels booked through lastminute.com and the island tour by bus cost £25 each basically to take us round their selected shopping opportunities. This is not a problem if you just want a relaxing sun bathing and/or walking holiday (we met some very active pensioners who’d located a roman road and some further afield beaches) but be aware of what you’re going to.

The food and service were excellent and a long list of cocktails is included in the all-inclusive price, with wine and beer at lunch and dinners as well as drinks from the two pool bars and in the greenhouse come entertainment venue. Children’s club must have been ok as junior went back for more but it is based in a depressing underground room beside the hairdresser (closed at this time of year), ironing room and one of the two expensive shops. Entertainers tried hard but there weren’t enough guests to create an atmosphere at the evening shows.

The beach is not long but is shallow a long way out (marked by buoys) with excellent water sports (free kayaking was the highlight of our holiday) and lunch available at the restaurant and drinks at the bar. There is a charge for sun beds on the beach. The funicular railway is also fun but had queues even at this time of year.

All in all a relaxing week but don’t forget the playing cards.
