Zora Hotel Reviews
" Zora good, Pamporovo awful "
Submitted By: karen shuttleworth
The hotel was good value for money. The resort was awful. The pistes were badly managed. There was enough snow, but it was so badly managed that the few runs that could be skiied, were icy rocky and dangerous. There were sapling trees growing through most of the pistes and there were no signs to say which were open or closed. We saw one snow cannon working the whole week and several just stood doing nothing. The drinks were very expensive, £4 for a pint of Guinness!
Advice: Pamporovo - don't bother

Friendly (almost family atmosphere) clean hotel, with good food, and 'interesting' entertainment!
Would definitely recommend if going to Pamporovo.
Slightly further than some other hotels from the center of the resort, but food at some of the central hotels was apparently very poor.
Ski instructor (Ivan) was a star!
There was a bad smell in our room caused by damp penetration beneath the window, we would have probably rated it higher if it was not for this. (On reflection, we probably should have complained, and asked to be moved - our fault as much as theirs!)
Perhaps Pamporovo itself was a slight disappointment, as it consisted mostly of a handful of large hotels and a couple of large pubs – no old world character.

Overall we were very pleased with the Hotel Zora. In general the staff were very friendly (although perhaps if there were any criticism Reception could have been a little more helpful).
The rooms were to a high standard and were very clean. We ate early both at breakfast & dinner and enjoyed buffet style food with plenty of choice.
We discovered on the final day when on settling our room bill that they do NOT have any facility for credit card transactions and as the cash points near by were out of order and the bureau de change were closed it caused a little stress at the end!
The resort was great both by day & night. We took beginners ski lessons and the instructor (Vasco) was absolutely fantastic.
Après Ski was also great with plenty to do - loads of bars - we particularly enjoyed the Snow Dogs (rock group) who played most nights in the Après Ski bar.
We flew into Sofia airport which had a 4 hour transfer, 2 hours of which were up/down scary winding roads which didn't go down too well after the heavy Après Ski on the last night so be warned! - (recommend flying into Plovdiv with a 2 hour transfer time)
All in all we had a fantastic weeks holiday and intend returning to Hotel Zora next year...
