HG Tenerife Sur Apartments Reviews
" Would definitely go back! "
Submitted By: Terry SelderBut...
We were allowed to use our apartment many hours before the check-in time of 4 P.M.
The pool area was beautiful and the water temperature was lovely. Nice to know there was a life saver/socoristo there as well, cleaning up after all these lazy, lazy people.
There were always towels to spare in the apartment.
The maid had a great, warm smile!
The little supermarket offered freshly baked bread in the morning at very low prices.
The waiters in the restaurant were extremely nice, especially if you just started talking to them, showing your interest. They really opened up and showed their humouristic side. I have some pictures of them I will cherish forever.
The restaurant offers a nice selection of foods in the evening and a wonderful breakfast in the morning.
The evening entertainment in the restaurant by JuanMá is VERY funny. He is a positive person, faking everything he plays. The songs you hear are midifiles, played by a computer, connected to his keyboard. While it plays, he randomly taps his hands on the muted keyboard. It is so obvious, that it was very entertaining, especially because he waves at all people, while the music keeps on going. :)
The personal treatment we received, the wonderful pool area, the great location and the lovely food make that it was a fantastic holiday. I can take a lot for granted, just the treatment is special.
I am already booking my next trip to HG Tenerife Sur for January!
Advice: Los Cristianos is great for those disliking busy and touristic places like Playa de las Americas.
Activities: Rent a car a travel up North, passing El Teide! What a fantastic views!
Good for: Beach
" Apartment broken into! "
Submitted By: rockchickOn the last day of our stay our apartment was broken into and things of ours were stolen. The thieves came in through the bedroom window, which was100% sure closed and locked when we left for a day trip. The receptionist didn’t seem very surprised or interested when we reported the break in. The apartment next to us was broken into too, in the same way. We think that the staff must have been involved in these break ins, the window must have been opened from the inside.
We definitely won't be going back to Tenerife Sur ever!

When we arrived at the... "
When we arrived at the airport we could not find our Rep. We located the Sunway stand and waited for nearly 20 minutes before she showed up. She informed us she had to bring people out to a taxi and left without supplying any of us with or coach number. We decided to try and get a taxi but the queues were horrendous. It was nearly an hour before we were on the coach and leaving the airport.
Apartment
Other than this mishap our holiday was fantastic. Our apartments were the first stop from the airport. Our room was very clean and spacious and our balcony overlooked the pool. Towels were changed every second day and sheets every third day. The rooms were equipped with an iron, ironing board, kettle, toaster, TV and safe. The only thing we could fault the room on was the noise and the shower. The shower had no power and to regulate the water temperature you had to play around with the hot and cold taps. Also, the rooms were extremely noisy. Unless you get an apartment on the very top floor be warned that you can hear every footstep and screeching of beds, chairs etc. against tiled surfaces.
The hotel staff and bar staff were very friendly. We were not impressed with the food so we were really happy that we did not go all inclusive. The pool area was quite large though it was shared with another hotel so it was difficult to get a sunbed. Expect a rush of people in the mornings putting their towels down. Also, the locals seemed to swarm the place at the weekend so I can imagine it would be worse in high peak season where the sunbeds are concerned. The best option was to go to the beach.
Location
The location of the hotel was fantastic. We were 10 minute walk from the harbour which had lovely restaurants and about 5 minute taxi journey to the Safari centre in Las Americas which had fantastic shops, coffee shops and a lovely beach. We were a nice distance (about 5-10 minutes in a taxi) from the nightlife in Las Americas; near enough to enjoy but distant enough for some peace.
I would not recommend the Tenerife Sur to gang of people going for a lively holiday as it is more catered for families. Also, I would rather stay somewhere nearer the beach in high peak season due to the overcrowded pool and lack of sunbeds.
Leaving the Tenerife Sur at the end of our holiday we got a taxi to the airport as we did not trust our Rep to pick us up on time after our experience with her at the start of the holiday. The taxi cost us around 25 Euro but it was money well spent!

Submitted By: Mr S SmithApartment was more basic than basic and considering the holiday cost £2k was not worth value for money in any way shape or description.
The swimming pool area was very dangerous due to being slippery, I saw a number of people fall, myself included.
Definitely not going back and certainly not booking with First Choice again.

Submitted By: Mrs S GlewTenerife Sur - rooms quite basic and small but immaculately clean and kept so. Fresh linen etc several times a week. Endless hot water with good shower. Good pool view with very sunny balcony - brilliant. Pool and gardens are really lovely - although the tiles are lethal when wet! Bar set in middle of pools on a little island.
Unfortunately, very noisy karaoke bar at the rear of room but all ended by midnight, so not too bad. Bartender Lubo, is excellent. Very pricey though. Didn't use restaurant - some of the staff looked SO glum...!!
Couple of minor problems over the 2 week stay, safe wouldn't set when we first got there, remote for TV and one of the lights in the bathroom went. These were ALL fixed within 30 minutes of reporting - exceptional service and with a smile.
Used Taylors Lounge (sports bar) many times, wonderful hosts; Toro Tapas just two doors away matched the West End; Golden Resource Chinese restaurant (a little further along the road in the shopping centre) is the best chinese food we have ever eaten - anywhere - light and un-greasy. Would definitely go back. Thanks First Choice for giving us a very reasonable and enjoyable holiday.

Submitted By: Miss SM MoffattGreat atmosphere at night and the bar staff were more than friendly. Room was cleaned everyday and towels were given every day. Great service.
Tour operator was great in putting me towards this hotel and the reps during the transfer and throughout the holiday were very helpful when needed.

Submitted By: Mr K KaniaMain gripe was bar overpriced on-site and the staff need watching at the bar, so we went over the road and got beer for half the price.
Position to the beach is about 10 min steady walk. Would go back.

Submitted By: Mr K GrantBoth are clean, well furnished, good maid service, pools are very clean and heated. On Tenerife Sur - good children pool, small playground on site.
Food in onsite restaurant is good and well priced - on site shop is well stocked and fairly priced.
Can't fault anything other than there is no onsite entertainment at night (might be more of an issue if you have young children and want them burn off some steam late at night).
Tenerife Sur was single bedroom [sleeps 4] and Christian Sur was 2 bedrooms (on 2 levels with spiral stir case) with bathroom and another separate toilet, 2 balconies, outside barbecue - very nice and sleeps up to 6.
There are enough places around if you want to eat locally; otherwise the centre of Los Cristianos is about 10mins walk. Beach is about 15mins walk.
Recommended.

Submitted By: Mrs B BroomAbsolutely loved Los Cristianos, nothing to fault. Beautiful beach, views, restaurants, friendly locals and shops etc.
I would have rated our holiday a perfect ten but our two apartment rooms faced a row of karaoke bars and boy oh boy were they noisy.
I have to say our Thomas Cook reps, Lisa and Anthony were fab, Lisa managed to get us a room to change to but being we were in two, we had the brainwave of purchasing earring plugs - hey, problem solved. So bear this in mind if you have a pool view no problems but on the road, could be extremely noisy.
We usually face quiet roads and love people watching but this was the worst. (The gentleman on reception did not want to know, probably having so many complaints, the thing is it is not really his fault that the bars are there competing against each other! - the brochure needs to state rooms can be affected by extremely bad noise).
Thanks to the earplugs we then had a perfect holiday. The room was amazingly clean so must thank all the cleaners for their hard work. No damp, mould, or dust. All sheets, bedding, towels etc were clean and crisp white.
The rooms were basic but had everything you need that worked. The shower was fine and we always had hot water.
The apartments had a restaurant which we fully recommend as we had breakfast and evening meals there occasionally, which we could not fault.
The swimming pool was fab, one half for swimming and the other half for inflatable’s and a life guard.
Pool area was great and not overcrowded. Could always get sun beds. Lovely grassed area and gardens too which we used to sunbathe on. Lovely holiday makers, no one noisy, everyone relaxed.
The younger children had own pool and play area and they were no trouble, they had a lovely time.
We had three children aged 15, 13 and 13 and we wanted peace and quiet and that’s exactly what we got - so 10 out of 10.
About a 15 min walk to the beach/harbour or longer depending on where you walked to. Lovely beach, can’t fault anything.
We loved eating at a restaurant called Fados on the harbour front, well recommended and very friendly. Be careful as some not so great. Just look first carefully and don’t be swayed by the owners badgering you in!
The 'bling bling' sellers can get on your nerves but hey you are on your holidays!!
Can recommend the Freebird one VIP whale watching boat trip, absolutely thrilling, one of the best experiences ever.
Also, the evening to mount Teide as you have a fab evening meal, watch the sunset above the clouds and then star gaze. I couldn’t believe the views and that we were above the clouds.
Only mar on the trip was after eating at restaurant at 7.45 no loo stop until home at 11pm - I daren’t drink any of the lovely wine!
We also recommend Thomas cook, all staff were excellent, we had perfect flights and reps and would use Thomas cook again.
We loved Tenerife so much greener than Lanzarote although both islands have different qualities. The Tenerife views are breathtaking. Los Cristianos would suit families and I think teenagers. Mine are not quite into the clubbing scene, if you are visit playa Americas the next resort.
Try these apartments taking in consideration what we have recommended, you will not be disappointed.
We found other reviews very helpful.
Happy holidays! Can’t wait to return to such a friendly lovely island.
Ps weather was fantastic much hotter than we had anticipated.

attractive at all.It is painted battleship grey not the colour that is on the website.Anyway all i can say that was good is that it is clean and plenty of clean towels everyday that was the only good thing is has going for it.Staff were pretty unhelpful when i complain about the doors banging,so i would not advise anybody to stay there
Advice: location not near beach, and long walk to shops
Activities: you can walk to los americas but long walk
