My family and I have recently returned from this wonderful resort. Upon arrival, the reception was warm and welcoming. The only trouble was that Thomas Cook failed to inform us that we were not able to check in to our rooms until 3 hours after we arrived. There were 8 of... more

we have stayed here for the last 5 summers.
the hotel is situated in a great spot near the marina and a pleasent walk to town.
the beds arent great and the pillows are terrible like all in the algarve.
we certainly noticed more irish staying here especially last year .
we thought we had arrived at a gypsy convention.

Great amenities, great location, great price!
We recently spent 3 nights at this apartment and were more than satisfied. We may have been the only guests there but that is our fault for going in December but we had everything we could need. The kitchen/living area was huge and everything was brand spanking new. There was a large fridge freezer, a microwave and a cooker. 2 huge bed settees and a twin bedded room. the bathroom was great. It was a few minutes walk to the Marina bars - which were all - can you guess? great! and then another 10 minutes walk to the town. The old town of Lagos is truly lovely. The shops and restaurants are great and the prices unbelievably cheap. It is half an hour to most places you would want to visit in the area (Sagres, Cape St Vincent, Luz, Ponte de Piedade ) and then maybe just over an hour if you want to go up to the mountains at Monchique. And only an hour from Faro airport - we much preferred this part of the Algarve to the more eastern part.
First Class Stay
Just back from a week’s holiday at this extremely attractive and comfortable hotel. Was surprised to find our suite was an actual self-catering apartment, it worked out well. The best rooms to go for are the pool/marina view. It was an extra 10 euros’ per day but was def. worth it. I don't think I would have liked the front or side of hotel as you would be overlooking car park and school. We had terrible weather which was unusual for Algarve, but we still had a fantastic time. There is always something to do. I would recommend the Dolphin Tours. I would say that Lagos is the best place to stay in the Algarve. There are 100's of restaurants & shops to keep you amused. The spa was brilliant, quite reasonable prices. My husband had the hot stone massage and I had a facial. The food served at Bar was good and also reasonable priced. We already want to go back for next year’s holiday. The food is amazing - if you like a bit of fish! On a neg -ve note, since the Euro we noticed Portugal is a lot more expensive. We had a cheap time in Florida. But that wouldn't put me off going again! Overall a truly relaxing holiday.
Perfect Accommodation
I was lucky enought to stay here for a week at the beginning of October to enjoy a week of pure relaxation and Marina Club did not disappoint. The room was modern and minimalist, perfect for me as I am allergic to dust etc. and it was kept immaculately clean. The bathroom was gorgeous and the small kitchen perfect for making breakfasts and simple meals if you fancied a rest from eating out. We overlooked the pool and marina and it was unbelieveably quiet also with lovely trees and grassy areas. The pool was lovely and there is a health club which you could pay to use but we didn't feel the need as the 4km long beach was just a five minute walk away and we spent most of our time there. This was so clean also and the sea was perfect for bathing. The hotel had a small restaurant serving light meals and breakfast but to be honest you're only a couple of minutes from the marina cafes which have better choice and are good value in comparison. It was also my mother's birthday whilst we were away and we were surprised by a lovely bottle of champagne delivered to her room in the afternoon courtesy of the hotel staff. I did not think hotels did this anymore but maybe I should not be surprised as the Algarve is one of the friendliest places in Europe I have visited and I will definately be back to experience more of the lovely Portuguese culture. All in all ten out of ten to Marina Club, Lagos and Portugal!! Thank you for a lovely holiday!
Fabulous apartments, great location
We are a couple from Ireland in our early 30s, just back from a week at the Marina Club in Lagos. Absolutely fabulous! We took the advice from other TripAdvisor reviewers and asked for a pool/harbour view. It was definitely worth it. The apartments at the other side of the building overlooked a car park and some had no views at all (e.g. big trees or other buildings in front of them). Our apartment overlooked the pool and a bit of the marina which was fabulous. The apartment itself was really modern, spotlessly clean, spacious and bright with patio doors in both the bedroom and the living room leading to the balcony. It is located a short stroll from the marina and about a ten minute walk to the town or the beach. Lagos is a great town with loads of restaurants, cafes and bars, little cobbled streets and small shops. Unlike many other resorts, you really feel like you're in Portugal (instead of little England/Ireland/Germany!). Most of the restaurants are Portuguese (specialising in fish/seafood). Highly recommended!
Even better than before
Great apartments, great facilities, great location. All the building work is finished and the Club now boasts a spa and gym. They could liven the bar up somehow, but with other good places close by, that might be difficult and unnecessary. As you can see from the other reviews, it's popular with the Irish, which puts us off not one little bit. Lots of Portuguese also stay.
Very good - recommended
Had a great week staying at the Marina Club in Lagos. Our room was spacious and very clean with generally good facilities. The only downside was that our balcony was on the sea view side of the apartment block, but unfortunately the sea is about 1km away and in between is the road, the car park (very handy and spacious), some wasteland, a school, and the railway station. So get a pool view if you can! The staff were friendly and helpful, letting us stay until 4pm on our departure day, even though we should have been out by 12:00. The pool was very big, clean and quiet - lots of sunbeds. Airbeds are not allowed though and the rules also didn't allow ball-games etc (though the staff were tolerant of them) so not really a place for lively kids! Good for the rest of us though. Lagos is great too - lively (in a good way) and atmospheric, lots of bars, restaurants, and street entertainment. I'd definitely come here again.
delightful holiday
We have just returned from a weeks vacation. The holiday was almost faultless. Arrived in Faro airport, took a short taxi ride to train station €10,and got train direct to Lagos €6 each. Train journey was long -1hr45mins but pleasant and interesting. Hotel is a ten minute walk from train station. Reception was formal and business like and surprised us both as we expected staff to be a little more warm and .friendly. However, after seeing our studio apartment which was large, bright and well fitted out, our hearts rose and remained high for the rest of the week. The swimming pool was large and clean with plenty of sun loungers. The marina was close by and the town was a very pleasant 10 /15 minute walk away. There is a large supermarket at the back of the hotel which is very convenient. There are a good selection of restaurants in the town and eating out is inexpensive . Our experience in this hotel was of a well run and efficient establishment with excellent facilities but staffed by people who were not overly helpful.
Excellent Highly Recommended
Have just returned from a week at the Marina Club, it was our third visit to Lagos but our first to the Marina Club, we will definitely be going back. Our 3 bedroom apartment in the Dom Joao Block, overlooked the Pool and Marina. It was furnished to a very high standard, with maid service daily. The overall complex was imaculate, the staff very friendly and helpful; the pool was fantastic with a bar which served reasonable priced snacks. The Marina Club is ideally situated, 10 minutes from the beach and the main square in Lagos. We would highly recommend this accommodation.
Cant recommend enough
This was our second stay at the Marina Club in Lagos. Happened upon it by accident last September after turning down a room at the Tivoli!! So glad we walked over to the marina. The apartments are lovely with all modern facilities and a lovely bathroom. Our first stay was at the back of the property overlooking the carpark as we were a walk in, sun was there first thing in the morning and it wasnt too bad but we made sure when returning this year that we booked a pool/marina view. The staff are very helpful and the beach towels for the pool are an added bonus. Saves lugging them in your suitcase. Lagos itself is lovely and not your typical touristy place with nightclubs etc. ideal for families and couples wanting a relaxing, lovely holiday. We are going back in two weeks time and I cant wait. Hopefully the weather will be better this time as we had some rain on our last visit but it was still great. Can highly recommend the restaurant D.Henrique on [--] and also Shalimar Indian Restaurant off the main square.
Will not find better
We have just returned from the marina club in lagos and I can honestly say you will not be able to fault it. HOWEVER and I suppose there is always a However you should definitely request a pool view as otherwise you will bo looking over a car park opposed to a beautiful pool and marina!!! This would be my only concern as the view is fantastic and there were plently of people looking the opposite direction over a car park and road which would spoil the early evening pre dinner holiday drink on the balcony!! The pool was top class. We had a 2 year old with us and she loved it. The quality of the apartments was in my opinion a five star. We have stayed in some of the best hotels in the World and this ranks up there in terms of value for money. We actually thought when we arrived that they had made a mistake as we thought it was a hotel. We explored lagos and this is the best location and I mean this. Do not stay anywhere else. The town itself is great for families however we did find that some resteraunts didn't have high chairs. I cannot speak highly enough about Lagos as it is ideal for families with lots of out door activities and calm nightlife.
