Marina Park Apartments Reviews
" We were moved to the Marina Park... "
Submitted By: Mrs M Slade
We were moved to the Marina Park Apartments a couple of days before we where due to travel as we were meant to be staying at the Iberlagos but they where closing the pool, hence the move (From what we were told in Lagos we had a lucky escape). Unfortunately very limited information was available on the Marina Park, therefore we did not know what to expect.
Are flight was with My Travel, and this was the best charter flight we had been on, plenty of room at your seat, food was good and personnel had good spirits.
We were meant at the airport and directed to our coach, after a 2-2.5 hour drive (we went round the houses with drop offs), we arrived at Marina Park. The park is up a steep hill and is basically a series of 3 storey apartments. The apartments are lovely, very spacious and even have a washing machine and dishwasher in. We had a 2-bed apartment, which had an en-suite bathroom in the double room and an additional bathroom between the bedrooms. It also had a large balcony.
Unfortunately there is nothing to do on the site, it has a swimming pool and loungers (which you don't have to pay for) and a pool bar but that is it. The Reception shuts at 8pm and there is no phone on site. The nearest phone is 10 mins walk away next to the marina (down a very steep hill) and the nearest supermarket is about 10-15 mins away. If you don't have a car you need to be prepared for a lot of walking. If we had known exactly where it was and what was on site we would have hired a car.
The apartments are fairly new, but I think to make it more attractive to holiday makers it needs more on the site, especially for children, luckily my son had his Gameboy otherwise it could have been a nightmare as there is no children’s club or room.
While staying at the apartments we undertook several excursions, one to the markets (the same as all gypsy markets) and one to the water park, which my son enjoyed and didn't have to queue for the rides. We also went on the Dolphin watching trip which apparently offers a 100% guarantee that if you don't see them it will take you again. This is not quite what it seems. The guarantee is actually that they will put you on a wait list for another trip as long as they have 4 paying customers and the guarantee only lasts a year.
Not a bad trip, but don't know if I would stay at the apartments again due to lack of things to do and the location.

The apartment itself was very clean, spacious, and had all the mod-cons:
Satellite TV/ Cooker/ Fridge-Freezer/ and even a Washing Machine!
Within the complex there was a superb outdoor swimming pool, with numerous sun-loungers (free) and a poolside cafe & bar. Tennis courts were also available.
All of the complex staff that we met were courteous, and spoke excellent English.
On-site there was also a mini-market that was ideal for buying any basic provisions.
However, the only drawback with these apartments is that they are located at the top of a steep hill which is about 5-min drive from Lagos Main Street, or a 1-min drive from Lagos Marina.
In my opinion, they would not be very suitable if you were not driving.
There is virtually nothing to do on-site in the evenings, so we drove down to the main
Drag in Lagos each night for Restaurants / Bars / Entertainment etc.
