" Holiday From Hell "
Submitted By: c-foreman-2008All of the crockery and glasses were all chipped and had pieces out of them. Husband had a shard of glass on his mouth after drinking some beer and was lucky not to have swallowed it. The resturaunt contained two doves that kept flying around during meal times and the staff were feeding them bread on the floor.
The rep was non-existant and we only saw her at the welcome meeting and she never returned again. She was supposed to be there at certain times that were stated on the board but never returned. Others wanted to see her too to complain and to book up trips but were not able to do so.
The pools were supposed to be heated but were not so we could not go swimming. Also there was supposed to be entertainment each night but there was only; bingo, A drag act and a magician also parrots and snakes - This was supposed to be the entertainment for the night but each only lasted for 30-40 minutes and then there was nothing else.
Advice: DO NOT GO THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FIND A BETTER PLACE

" Sol Morromar - Excellent Value for Money "
Submitted By: mhibizaThe local beer is San Miguel, which went down very well sat by the lovely pool under the sun.
My only criticism would be that the food choice in between main meals was poor, mainly hot dog & chips & poor selection of cakes.
Other wise a fantastic holiday, AI exceptionally good value for money with entertainment provided in the evening.
I'd definitely recommend hiring a bike (10 euro per day) as very flat and cycle lanes run most of the coast from Aricefe to Porto Del Carmen.
We'll definitely be going back to this hotel on the AI option.

Submitted By: Mr DE AmbroseDo not expect any staff to be friendly to you, this is a mainly Spanish tourist hotel, and staff are rude to English.
Do not go here unless you like cold sub standard food and paella (with brussel sprouts) twice a day.
Good deal on all inclusive drinks but only 1 barman in an inside hot bar with no proper seating. Barman wanders off for 20 minutes at a time to find 6 glasses, but it doesn't matter because if you are English you are ignored.
On a positive note the room maid was lovely and the room was always very clean!
Only pleased that we only booked a week’s holiday. Would feel really sorry for anyone who had saved for a year to stay here.

Submitted By: Mrs J McGlashamOn entering the apartment it was immaculately clean! Spacious, well equipped, bright and cheerful with a cracking balcony overlooking the pool! 2 Large double bedrooms and plenty hanging space!
Very very good!!
The complex was fantastic!
Two large pools although one (the heated one) was closed for maintenance work! However we still had major amounts of fun in the other pool! Was very safe for the girls and well lit at night for us all to find our way around the complex and back to our apartments!
Food: Breakfast was great; full English breakfast if you wanted it and also a huge variety of cold cooked meats and cheeses, breads and pastries, fruit and yogurts!
Lunch and dinner: Variety of hot and cold dishes, chips with almost everything though but also other potato dishes! Loads of fresh salad and fruit, endless amounts of quality ice cream! And although the all inclusive meals were not always our ideal choice of food, it was still very good! Carvery roast 3 times a week and this was lovely!
All inclusive drinks! Hmm... Lager on tap pretty much from 11am till 11pm as well as a variety of spirits and cocktails however I must admit the cocktails were more like syrup, fruit juice and a splash of alcohol....hence never feeling the slightest bit tipsy but still they tasted nice! Soft drinks were available too at all times as well as 'snacks' from the pool bar!!
Beware though, the 'Pool Side' snack bar menu as well as the leaflet you get on arrival would have you believe that all the pool side snack menu food is free! It’s not!
Only ham and cheese toasties and burger and chips were free with the odd cold meat and cheese sandwich! Everything else on the menu was charged as we found out but in all fairness the waiter did tell us when we ordered it wasn’t included in the all inclusive!
Most of the staff were really helpful and friendly, however as the night wore on the staff in the bar were not too friendly when the children went to the bar asking for drinks for themselves and friends they had made there! Being told they had had enough was not really acceptable in an all inclusive but that’s the only complaint about the staff!
Entertainment! This was very poor, few tatty shows but wouldn’t have lost any sleep at missing them!
Transfers!
Don't book a transfer, we paid £56 for a transfer and the taxi from the airport to the hotel was only 4 Euros including a tip! We know for next time!
So all in all a very nice holiday, totally relaxing, clean apartment and plenty clean bedding and towels! The weather was cracking although slightly breezy but this was welcomed as was really hot there, and would definitely go there again!

Submitted By: Mr R BruceEntertainment was very poor at night and the bar area was so bland it could get a bit depressing night after night.
A short walk to some nearby bars or a cheap taxi ride to town (3 Euros) is the better option.
Apartment was pretty basic but clean, and only the 2 English TV channels. Pool areas were big and spacious. Enough sun beds in May. Not sure about August.
Would I go back? Probably would.

Submitted By: Mrs L AndersonMatagorda resort is very run down and there are only a handful of restaurants and shops, which are not very good.
We went to the main resort most nights however, getting a taxi after 7.30pm at night was a nightmare.
Unless you want a quiet no frills holiday, I would not recommend this resort.

Submitted By: Mr J A SummerfieldThe Staff were rude and ignored us at the pool bar/buffet bar until they had no choice but to serve us. The food is basic, but is advertised as a la carte/fine cuisine.
There is only one buffet and a pool bar, not several restaurants as the web site said. The gents’ toilet in the buffet area had no soap in the dispenser for 5 days (only filled after complaints). There were no lights in some of the ladies toilets, which as the cubicles have no windows, makes things difficult.
It was "totally renovated" in 2004, but you would not know this to look at the place. Room floors not swept in the 2 weeks, no "piped music", TV has 2 channels in English (eurosport,CNN), rare towels/linen changes, and "the beautifully tended gardens" are palm trees in volcanic rock.
Even the children’s play area has a floor of small volcanic rocks, not very child friendly. The jacuzzi was green with rocks in the bottom and the fully equipped gym had three exercise bikes, one multi gym with 60 kg, and a couple of other weights on the floor. I feel sorry for any one who is transferred to this place, but if your looking to book, DONT.

what isn't eaten at lunch you get for dinner. would i ever go here again...
Not likely.
