Maspalomas Lago was lovely to stay in! Literally just come back from spending a week there and have to say that we really enjoyed every minute of it. Maybe because it's out of season, the resort was quiet in terms of entertainment but that's why you go into Playa del Ingles... more

A friend and I stayed at this hotel last November and found it absolutely fine. There really anything to do on site so we walked down to the Faro 2 centre most nights (plenty of nice restaurants on 5min walk) and Playa del Ingles if we fancied something more exciting. There... more

fab time at the lago!
me and my friend stayed here for a nice break of five nights and we had no complaints what so ever got a taxi from airport which cost 30 euros and took about 25 mins arrived at apartments and was around pools straight away no problems with sunbeds loads of them nice and quite complex nice bar and very reasonable prices and snacks and did take away! 3 nice pools apartments nice cleaned everyday when we were there just lacking air con it was scorching when we were there. playa d'ingles was only a 10 min walk away but taxis were only 3 euros must mention the staff at lago they all were lovely polite and very happy and nothing was too much trouble especialy MARTA she was lovely.we had a lovely time and will be defititely going back.
Great relaxing week awa
We arrived in late faced with an element of dread when the bus pulled into a couple of resorts....thankfully we had nothing to worry about at Maspalomas Lago with quick and efficient check in late at night. Our apartment was in a great spot near the pool, it was clean and basic which is to be expected, but more than enough for the 2 of us with a great little seating area outside overlooking the pool which was perfect for our evening San Migel. We went self catering which worked out well for us as the Faro centre is a 5-10 minute walk to pick up breakfast and lunch essentials. We ate out every night in either Playa Del Ingles (more lively) or Faro Boulevard which is more chilled. A cheap taxi ride to both. The pool area was clean with plenty of sun loungers-the big pool is refreshing to say the least so be prepared! All in all a great week away, we came home rested and relaxed and couldn't have asked for anything more! We would return to Maspalomas Lago.
Maspalomas lago - liked it a lot - would return
Isn’t it surprising how differently people can view the same location? I guess it’s all about who and what you are; what you’re used to and expect; how much you want to pay; what you want out of a holiday and whether you let a few niggling issues dominate things. Our objective is to have clean, comfortable, quiet accommodation with good value for money. We have just returned from 14 days half board at Lago and loved it. If we return to the island we would look to stay here again. We are an empty-nester couple who like simple, quiet things (stunning scenery and local sights rather than pubs and clubs) and value for money. Lago ticks a lot of the right boxes on the issues that matter. Sure, you can witter on about the bacon being a bit greasy or limited toaster facilities but if that’s your biggest problem then you haven’t had a bad holiday. We went end February/early March 2008 just after half term to get a better and avoid school holidays. Good things 1. Lovely bungalow/apartments around a super pool area with lots of flowers and palm trees (OK, so one cockroach which was evicted then no more). Furnishings basic but fine. 2. Location. Although a fair way from the sea, the general area is reasonably pleasant and quiet. We thought this area was nicer than any of the other resorts/areas we saw, especially Del Ingles. If you want noise and activity, we think it’s better to be able to go to it when you want rather than having it in your face all the time. 3. Great having an apartment even though not self-catering (bedroom, lounge, sink, fridge/freezer, terrace). 4. Very quiet site. Even though accommodation was 100% full, you wouldn’t have known it. Pool area never more than 50% occupied, plenty of sun bed availability (no towel battles), pleasant atmosphere. 5. Pretty clean. Cleaned 5 times per week and maids very meticulous. 6. Generally decent, quiet clientele. 7. All staff pleasant and courteous – couldn’t fault any of them. 8. Restaurant/Bar Terrace. Just outside the restaurant overlooking the pool. Great to have or finish breakfast/drinks in the sun overlooking this area. 9. Bar area. Not noisy, especially into late evening. 10. Good value (although depends what you pay and your sense of value). 11. Poolside apartments. We were lucky enough to have one and it’s great. Niggles (mainly minor and shouldn’t spoil it) 1. Location. It’s a fair way to the sea front -a couple of miles. We had a car all the time and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. In our view, preferable to the 45 min+ walk along pretty uninteresting residential roads or relying on beach buses. 2. Restaurant/Food. Breakfast varied choice and generally OK. However, evening meal generally very limited and the weakest point for Lagos. Not much choice, pretty basic and dining area can be a bit quiet. Depends on what you look for in food. If eating out and good food is for you, then this isn’t. As half-boarders, it was convenient and avoided effort and cost of traipsing out to find something, but I guess you can go out anyway if you want. Wouldn’t pay to eat evening meal here if not inclusive unless for convenience. Other points. 1. Read the other entries for nearby Faro 2 centre and Holiday World Amusements (latter very clean and modern – not like the tatty fairgrounds you get in the U.K.) 2. Take a travel kettle with you with adaptor plug to enjoy your morning cuppa! 3. No entertainment and area very quiet in the evenings but, as stated, we’d prefer that and have a decent relax/sleep than in-your-face noise and din which you can go out to anyway. In Summary We loved it, were sad to leave and would go again.
Excellent !!!!
Maspalomas Lago is in the nicer quieter more up market part of Maspalomas. The apartment was spacious and very clean the maids clean 5 days a week , we were self catering so there was every thing you need even washing up liquid( kettle and toasters available from reception) we didn’t bother just used a pan on the hob. Our balcony was south facing and over looked the pools and bar/restaurant, because we went in February the large pool was very cold but I did have a swim when the sunbathing got too much! The reception staff were very helpful, there is a shopping/restaurant centre 5 mins walk away called Faro 2 and it about a 25 min walk into the centre of Maspalomas were you will find a large shopping/restaurant centre as they don’t have streets lined with shops and restaurants so don’t bother looking, taxis are cheap you wouldn’t pay more than 5-6 euro to go anywhere in Maspalomas, you can just wave one down. Food in Maspalomas is all much the same we didn’t eat at the Maspalmos lago restaurant so can’t rate it but the food that was being served looked nice . The beach is about 40 min walk but Maspalomas Lago have a free bus service three times there in the morning and three times back in the afternoon but don’t forget we did go in Feb so the bus may do more pickups in the summer, failing that taxis are 3-4 euro each way. The beach is lovely and the sand dunes were amazing (be aware there are nudists unless your into that sort of thing!) and to the right of the beach are some nice posh restaurants/shops.
You get what you pay for.
Hotel was situated in a quiet road about 5 minutes by taxi from the lively resort of Palya Del Ingles (incidentally the taxis are very cheap). Rooms were a good size but very basic and above all very clean. The pool area is the hotel's best feature with plenty of sunbeds available. Although for some reason inflatables were banned from the pool! The pool bar was very cheap, (can recommend happy hour) the food was pretty good and the service excellent. Staff at reception were also very helpful. If you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay but don't want to be too far away from the bright lights then this hotel would be a good choice. Overall we had a good time here.
Just What The Doctor Ordered
Looking for a quiet week of Winter sun, we discovered this ideal spot. As the bus dropped holiday makers off at their various locations, we felt extremely apprehensive. Playa Del Ingles seemed to be a high-rise nightmare. However Maspalomas was a different matter. An area of low-rise apartment complexes, set in tree lined streets, it was very pleasant indeed. The complex was a bit dated, but extremely good value for money. The pool was spotlessly clean, surrounded by a sparse crowd, mainly of the "Saga" generation. Facilities in the apartment were adequate, we boiled water in a saucepan and even managed to cook a couple of pasta based meals. The beach was two miles away, but this presented us with a very enjoyable walk every day. The Faro Boulevard was excellent, featuring nice restaurants, smart shops and grand low-rise hotels. It was the equal of any sea front I have encountered. The dunes were spectacular and, overall the area still retained a natural charm. We will certainly be returning!
Lovely bungalows in an attractive and peaceful setting
just had a lovely two weeks stay at Maspalomas Lago bungalows. They are lovely bungalows in an attractive and peaceful setting. The bungalows are clean and all had a terrace and garden. We had towels and sheets changed twice and the bungalow was cleaned every day. The downside was the blankets and bed covers. The sheets were lovely and clean but the top covers had paint on them and looked as if they either hadn't been washed or washed so much they were rubbed up and faded. The blankets are revolting bown or striped and looked really dirty. There are lots of trees and flowers everywhere which is a lovely. There are three pools and a poolside bar. Don't go there if you want evening entertainment or night life as there isn't any. The food is variable, with little choice. Some days the meals are lovely, others just OK, and on 3 nights the choice of main course was fish fingers or meat balls! The soup is lovely every day but if you want fancy sweets you will be dissapointed. Sweets are generally jelly and ice cream. For breakfast there is a good choice of salad, cold meat and cooked English. Its a pity they think English people like eggs fried in tomato sauce and soggy bacon. There was only a 2 slice toaster for the whole restaurant. The location is good, it is between Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles. Maspalomas sea front is 45 mins walk away and Playa del Ingles front is 35 mins walk away. Holiday World is 5 mins walk away and there is a fair, bowling alley, restaurant, bars, pony rides and a parrot show every night. Faro 2 is also 5 mins walk away, it is a shopping centre with loads of restaurants and there are also playgrounds for the children. Taxis are everywhere, just stand by the road and one will pull up. They cost 4 euros to Maspalomas. We got a taxi from the airport and that was 35 euros and on the return journey we got an airport bus from almost outside the hotel and that was 6.80 euros for 2 people. The hotel reception is good, they speak English and are very helpful. We booked through the internet without a travel company and the hotel give us details of their own rep when we checked in. We rang the rep and got first class service. We would definately go back but maybe on a self catering basis next time.
Very Nice !
Just got back from these apartments yesterday after staying for a week. I had read the reviews before we had left & was not sure what we would find! but we was very pleased with the apartment it was basic, but VERY clean, a bit on the dated side but all very liveable, we bought our own travel kettle as after reading the reviews on here saying you can hire a kettle, toaster etc.we asked at reception & got a toaster & didn't pay anything! didn't need a fan so not sure about the cost of hiring that! There is a coin operated TV in the apartment,1.50c Euro gives you an hour of tv & 3 Euros gives you 24 hours tv, all mostly German stations!!! but you do get BBC World free if you don't want to pay anything station 1! The hotel pools are lovely & clean & reception staff are very obliging there is a restaurant on the complex had different comments about the choice of menu, there is also a bar where you can buy 5litres of water for 1 Euro(save you lugging it in from anywhere else!)& its cheap to drink there too, happy hours 8.30-9.30!! In reception there is an internet terminal 2euros for 25 minutes, its quite a slow connection at certain times of day! There is a free morning bus service from the apartments, you will receive a card from the hotel that gives you this free service that takes you to Maspalomas dunes/beach area this leaves at 09.45,10.45 & 11.45 & returns 14.15,15.00 & 16.15, its quite a popular service so get outside in time & you may have to stand but its only about a15 minute ride to the beach, the walk into Mapalomas is pleasant but its up a long'ish hill! the taxis are very cheap around 3 to 4 Euros into Maspalomas or Playa de Ingles you can hail them outside as long as they have a green light showing on top of cab, or reception will call you one. There are other busses that you can catch outside the front on main road, they are blue & number 30 goes to Las Palmas, 39 Porto Rico & 32 goes to Porto Mogan, (Fridays are market days in Mogan, the buses get packed so you will wait for SOME time to catch, use the porto Rico bus & connect to Mogan when you get to Rico, its easy & you can connect easily its quicker than waiting for buses that go by as they are full from the bus top outside the apartments you will see!!) There is supermarket not far away, Faro2, go out of the front of the hotel turn left, walk little way then left again, you can see this shopping centre from the Lago apartments & the supermarkets open 10am - 9.45p open every day there are some good restaurants & bars & shops etc. You will see also on your walk to the Faro2 shopping centre a large amusement park Holiday world, opens in the evening & its a good place to have a look around with some restaurants there & rides to go on good for families etc. also close by there they have a market on Saturday mornings. We never had any problems with cockroaches none in our room, but a couple we chatted to did find 1 in there cutlery draw much to there horror! so be aware they are about & we saw some on the perimeter of the complex! Enjoy, we did!!
Quiet and well maintained
Spent a lovely week at these bungalows. They are a good size the bathroom being spacious with a bath. Kitchen area is compact with large fridge no kettle or toaster. Rooms were cleaned 5 days in the week. TV is coin operated 1.50 Euros for an hour or 3 Euros for 24hrs but there was only BBC World News for us English. We had a nice terrace which was quiet and caught the sun. The bungalows are in two rows around the pool so if you were in the inner you would have a view of the pool. We stayed half board and were pleased with the food and service. Breakfast, there was a choice of hot and cold dishes which altered, only thing I would say juice wasn't fresh and coffee was out of a machine otherwise would not fault. Dinner again was good food, always salad and soup and then a choice of three main meals. There was a dessert and ice cream which was very tasty. Service was good and often saw the chef come out to ensure there was good supply of food. There are supermarkets and restaurants in Faro 2 Centre or if you go in the other direction when coming out of complex there is another supermarket 10 minute walk. The beach is a good 1/2 an hour walk or use the free bus which was punctual and pick up a card from reception with the times. I would recommend these bungalows for there cleanliness and quietness.
great time
we have just returned from a very enjoyable week away at the Club Maspalomas Lago. When we arrived the staff informed us that there was no cot in the room for the baby as the agent had not requested one, first thing the next morning they brought it round. The rooms are a good size two single beds and good size wardrobes there was also a sofa type bed in the living area. really good size fridge/freezer which was really handy for all the baby things. there is also a very good patio area which has table and chairs. there are activities everyday but sundays so plenty to do. we stayed half board, the food was good and a reasonable selection. snacks are available from the bar and are well priced. we found the staff to be both pleasant and helpful. bottled water is available at reception for 1euro this saves having to carry it back from the shops. Tip when running water for bath/shower turn the tap fully round to the right if turned left it runs cold. Also when locking the room turn the key in lock twice. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would return.
