This hotel is wonderful. We stayed...

Dec 2007, Miss C Stevens

This hotel is wonderful. We stayed here for 2 weeks and couldn't fault it.
The rooms are lovely and there are plenty of things to do. We did have 4 days of rain and they put a film on for us and with it being all inclusive we had plenty of food and drink to keep us happy!
The entertainment team are fantastic-not to pushy, if you don’t want to join in they just leave you alone but we met lots of people whilst playing water polo, table tennis, aqua aerobics and having Turkish lessons. One tip for you is to tip the bar staff when you first arrive, they will remember you and make sure you get the best treatment for the rest of your holiday.
You can eat and drink all the time at this hotel. If you want a sandwich at 4.30am you can have one, if you fancy trying to stay up at drink for 24 hours you can! We only left the hotel 3 times this was to buy some gifts but if I didn’t have to do that I wouldn’t have left the hotel.
Just be aware if you do leave the hotel, the shop keepers are very pushy and start to put things in a bag if you look at something for more than 2 seconds, do try and barter with them but don’t push them too far or it will end up in a row!
The hotel staff will try and get you to go to a bar called "Central" - they get paid commission for each person they bring - don’t be pressured in to going - you will have a good night but why go out and spend your money when you can have fun and free drink in your hotel. To sum up a great holiday and I would definitely go back again!

Great hotel and staff very friendly...

Nov 2007, Mr D.p Brown

Great hotel and staff very friendly and helpful.
The only downfalls were that the food quality was not consistent. Food was nice on two occasions and poor on the other four! And the mini bar wasn't in with the all inclusive deal and proved very costly.
The night time entertainment was quite poor and was only on for two nights, but that was probably because it was coming to the end of the season.
Also watch out for the pushy salesmen from the shops and bars, they do get very irritating after a while and did get on my nerves!
Enjoyed it whilst I was there but wouldn't go again.

I've done lots of all-inclusive and...

Oct 2007, Mr Brian Trubey

I've done lots of all-inclusive and quite a few in Turkey when kids were younger. This is one of the best. A smart clean hotel with staff who are genuinely friendly and cheerful.
The room was fine with a view over inner courtyard. A pool or seaview required a further £60 and we declined. I went solely to lie in the sun and relax and that's what I got. Beach is a few steps away and the pool was spotless. Sun beds were NOT an issue. There is a smaller pool at the sister hotel within same grounds and there were always many available. Staff would even fetch more if needed. Plenty on beach anyway and water is also clean there.
5 bars and lobby bar open all night! Lobby bar can seem smoky because no ban but we managed and we hate smoking. Tea, coffee, soft drinks, beer, wine, gin, vodka, brandy and raki available (cocktails in beach bar and roof bar) and endless chilled water to fill your bottle.
Food was fine but we tired of it by end of week but that happens to us anywhere. If you are a healthy eater there is a wide choice of cold buffet for anyone. I wouldn't criticise it and, again, waiters were helpful and cheerful.
I would cheerfully line up the animation team and shoot them but then I would at any hotel. I have perfected a daytime look by the pool which says "Don't even approach me" and they don't! Again, they do try and people do turn out to watch them in the evening. It's the inane daytime cries and the balloons under the vests that get me.
One hitch - we arrived Monday 24th at 3.30am and our room overlooked reception car park - rubbish view and noisy with arrivals and departures and we aren't niggly. Changed it by Wednesday morning. Also, we were getting picked up at 11pm on departure but had to check out by midday. We paid £20 to retain room to 7pm - worth it.
Overall I'd say the staff made it very pleasant. We've had some right surly teams on previous visits.
Would we recommend it? Definitely. Go and relax.

Sep 2007, Miss S KISIEL

What a fantastic holiday! I cannot rate this place enough, what lovely people! The animators at the Royal Asarlik kept me most entertained day and night, they looked after us and got us involved all of the time. Our waiter all week was Ali and what great service we had, ok the food wasn't to my taste but there was a wide variety of foods to suit everybody.
The disco in the evenings were great and on the last night the animators put on a show which was hilarious and had me in fits of laughter! I got to learn Turkish whilst I was out there with my teacher 'James' which was just great to keep you amused during the very hot days....
I will most definitely be returning there in 2008 along with my Mum which will be her 3rd visit there.

We had the most fantastic time at...

Sep 2007, Mrs J V Partington

We had the most fantastic time at this Hotel, the service was first class and all of the Staff were really friendly and polite and could not do enough for you. We meet some really great people from England but also became friendly with some Dutch people too.
We tended to go to the beach for most of the day as it is more quite then the pool. The pool is a bit small for such a large Hotel and the sun beds are too close together.
However after a day at the beech, if you then want a dip in the pool it is less busy at around 4 0'clock. The Turkish bath and full body massage is a must and a great way to relax and start your holiday.
We enjoyed the Chinese night in the alcarte restaurant. They have a choice of Chinese of Turkish and you can book one meal a week in this restaurant. The food was enjoyable and plenty of it, however, we did miss not being able to have a fry up for brekkie.
The view from the restaurant is breath taking and the hotel very clean. All of the staff work very hard and made this holiday very enjoyable.
Went to Bodrum Castle which was a really interesting and the views from the top fantastic. We would highly recommend an All Inclusive boat trip, we spent from 10.00am until 6.00 pm on the boat with 4 stops in lovely bays around Gumbet and the price was very reasonable.
We are already thinking of returning next year and have recommended the Hotel to Friends and Family.

Just got back from a fantastic...

Aug 2007, Mrs Gillian Wilson

Just got back from a fantastic holiday at the royal asarlik beach hotel.
The hotel was excellent, 5 star, all inclusive, well worth while, location fantastic, food excellent, rooms very nice and clean, clean towels and beach towels every day.
Pool was very busy and you could not get a lounger after 8.00 am, the beach was great and plenty of loungers there. Staff were excellent, we had a birthday while we were out there and the guest relation girls made it very special for us, organising cake and Champagne, nothing was a problem.
We were a party of seven, including 2 teenagers, this was a fantastic place for them, they could go and do their own thing, and we felt safe with that. We would not hesitate to go back to this beautiful hotel and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

The hotel itself is very clean and...
6 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss SK Burrows

The hotel itself is very clean and amazingly presented. Although when it came to what was promised we felt as customers very let down.
The hotel claims to be all-inclusive including a mini bar that is free and re-stocked every day. We had our mini bar re-stocked once and that was only after we had rang reception. Also the mini bar is not free as promised, water is the only free beverage.
The rooms were pleasant although if you have to walks far as we did we would suggest to go to reception and ask for something different. Two of us had a room that required you to take an elevator 4 floors, walk down 4 corridors, up two sets of stairs and through 3 more corridors. Where as the other two on holiday had a luxury room on the first floor, which we felt was unacceptable, as we had both paid the same amount for the rooms.
The pool area is very nice and clean, unfortunately sun beds are difficult to grab unless you take your towel down early to reserve them. Drinks were very good and vodka is the only alcoholic drink free due to others being imported. The restaurant is very nice and has a very wide selection.
Air conditioning was very good and was very helpful throughout the week. The downstairs snack bar is also very good with free menu from 12 onwards; the staff downstairs were also very pleasant.
The hotel is in a great location to walk to the busy centre and Bar street. Very good for younger people on a party holiday. The beach is literally two steps away from the hotel and is also very nice. The views are good as long as you have a nicely situated room.
Overall the hotel was nice but I would only go again for the great location and pool & if was to go again I would defiantly only accept the standard of room my two friends received rather than my own.

Overall appearances were good at...
7 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss R Jones

Overall appearances were good at first. A very clean hotel. However I would not recommend this hotel if you have small children. The hotel was full of young teenagers and young Europeans who made the most of the free bar - who wouldn’t!
The music was blasting out round the pool in the day time and was ok if you were in a rave!

I had to get up by 7.30am to get a sunbed, or if you want the front row by 6.30am! Reserving of beds is a problem and caused a lot of arguments during my stay.
I had a sea view room which was lovely, but again with a small child we found ourselves in bed early on a few occasions, but the entertainment and disco kept us awake as it was in front of our room. Again if you weren't coming to bed before 1am then this wouldn’t bother you.
The food was ok. There was plenty of choice for salads and cold vegetables but at dinner the choice of a hot meal was limited and all tasted the same and very salty! The pizzas at the snack bar in the day were nice.
All staff are lovely apart from the pool bar where they tend to ignore you, but I suppose a tip would ensure you are always served first.
Entertainment at night was dodgy! They put sketch shows on and the humour is bizarre to say the least! It was mainly toilet humour and got quite rude in parts, several parents took their children out. Others just walked out as it wasn’t their taste. Watching a grown man mime to the blues whilst sat on a toilet and then pretend to throw the contents to the crowd!
All in all, if you want a quality hotel and have no children and are under 30 maybe this hotel is ok for you!

Hotel and pool lovely and clean,...
7 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs S A Moore

Hotel and pool lovely and clean, staff continually striving to maintain standards.
Our room small but adequate - air conditioning provided 24/7 - brilliant. Safety deposit box in room good but did cost £10.00 per week. Mini bar in room - beware, drinks replaced daily but are not part of the all inclusive package (only one bottle of water is given free). Drinks used are billed on checkout.
View from 6th floor restaurant over Gumbet bay spectacular. Food a good version of what we Brits like - but bit repetitive. Due to the placement of foods, 2 queues likely and one thing cold by time at front of next queue. Food at snack bar though piping hot - we tended to eat there often.
24 hour bar so could always get a drink, whether it be Brandy, tea or a soft drink. With so many bars to use, we tended to drink at the beach bar mostly - that way we got to know the staff and them us.
Pool and pool area spotless but too small for size of hotel. The sunbeds far too close, if one person put up their parasol, everyone around also got shade, wanted or not. Beach fine though.
No need to get up at 5.00am to get a sun bed - still available at 10.00 most days on beach. Pool at sister hotel next door far superior to the one at Royal Asarlik, plenty of grassy areas around pool. Pool towels provided as part of all inclusive is a nice added extra.
Gumbet centre nice and close - loads of souvenir shops and bars. Check bar prices before ordering - pint of beer ranged from 1.5 - 5 lira. Bodrum on Dolmus a must - lovely harbour and castle - more of same in shops and bars though.
Was our 5th time in Turkey and this hotel 2nd on our list. Must say though that would not revisit Gumbet/Bodrum - Side and Olu Deniz far nicer.

This hotel is one of the best in...
9 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs E Lloyd

This hotel is one of the best in Gumbet if not the best. We have been to Gumbet many times and this has been by far the best hotel we have stayed in.
We booked a sea view room which are the best rooms. Standard rooms are also good but you get (it seemed) service when in sea view room as they called them premier rooms. The hotel is kept immaculately clean and all staff were very friendly.
Food was good, but don’t expect bacon and sausage. There was always plenty of room at the pool, sun beds, and plenty of sun beds on the beach.
The staff went out of their way to make you feel happy and provide any service you needed.
The only reason we have not given the hotel a 10 rating is that our room was on 5th floor which is right under the restaurant, and after it closed its bar at midnight you could hear the staff dragging the chairs into place which was slightly annoying.
However it must be said that once we mentioned it to the manager the next night and rest of the week was quiet, as they decided to lift the chairs instead of drag.
If you love your steaks as my husband dose and you fancy a night out instead of hotel then go to the steak bar just outside and about 200yds from hotel. The t bone was fantastic and worked out about £9.
I will definitely return to this hotel and would highly recommend it to others.

The Royal Asarlik is a fairly new...
7 / 10
May 2007, Mrs K Taylor

The Royal Asarlik is a fairly new hotel with an older sister hotel (Asarlik Beach) next door.
On arrival in the early hours of the morning we were 'tagged' as we were all inclusive, handed an A4 sheet of paper 'for information' and directed to our room.
When we got up in the morning we noticed that the information sheet was really just a list of what times each bar was open. There was no information regarding where anything was (spa, gym, restaurant, pool etc).
In fact throughout the week there was no real information about anything. I think they are trying to keep the hotel looking up market so they don't really want notice boards etc spoiling the look. Even the Reps boards were in a little room hidden away behind the lifts.
There is an a la carte but although we went on the Wed to book there was no availability until the Sunday which was the day we were going home. The buffet is fine although it was getting a bit samey by the end of the week and we went out of the hotel just so that we could get a meal that wasn't made up of a bit of this and a bit of that (try Zeta's the food was great).
We were there the week before the English school holidays and the resort was definitely very quiet, there was little in the way of entertainment either within or out with the hotel, however it did seem to be gearing up a bit by the time we left.
The pool at the Asarlik Beach is nicer than the Royal Asarlik with far more room for your sunbeds etc. There were some residents of the Asarlik Beach complaining about people from the royal Asarlik using their space but since the pool at the Royal Asarlik was closed for a full day due to too much chlorine being used in it there wasn't much they could do about it.
In the brochure the rooms are described as having either a pool, sea or courtyard view.
The room we had was a reasonable size and kept clean etc but had a courtyard view which meant that since we were on the ground floor and the hotel is six storeys high there was never any sun on our balcony.
In fact you couldn't look out the patio door in the morning to see what the weather was doing, you had to actually open the door step onto the balcony and look up so that you could see the sky.
Also the courtyard, although it had a pleasant water feature and was well planted was quite small so if you did chose to sit on the balcony you could see right into the rooms opposite (or in our case also next door as we were on a corner). None of these factors really spoilt our holiday as we're only in our rooms to sleep anyway, however many people were complaining because of it.
In general the Royal Asarlik was good value for money, the staff seemed ok, the room was ok, and the food was ok. We met up with so many characters that we had a really good holiday.
The hotel didn't stand out as being brilliant but it also didn't disappoint us but I do think that some more information on arrival (even if that's just a map of the hotel and the sister hotel) would have been useful.

What a great hotel the wow factor, as...
8 / 10
Sep 2006, Ms P Bennett

What a great hotel the wow factor, as this hotel is in two parts the old and new each intermingled well. Staff were all very pleasant and could not do enough for you especially turget at the pool bar.
We stayed in the new part and the rooms were of a very high standard. Complementary mini bar. Food we found well presented and we had no complaints, plenty of variety. Entertainers worked very hard and every night put on a different show. During the day they kept the pool entertained also.
Overall, this was a great place to stay, beach and shops only minutes away. Along the beachfront there are many restaurants and bars with shows and entertainment so there is always something to do.
My only gripe was that the bar staff used their hands while putting ice into glasses (cross-infections) but yes I would recommend this hotel and will certainly return.
