Bit of a Letdown
My partner and I stayed at the Jasmine Beach Resort in Konali in Antalya on 23rd May for 1 week. Where do I start really. We had a late flight and arrived early Monday at 4am. When we got our room key we were in fact put to chalet accommodation. Not at all what we had ordered from Thomas Cook. I even made a point of checking it was a Hotel Room and not an apartment etc before booking and was assured it was. Nevertheless we complained but was told nothing else was available. This was rated 4 star hotel by Thomas Cook and also states the official rating is 5 star. Please note the maximum I could give this room was 3 star if that. The bathroom stank so bad that I couldnt even go into it. We complained 4 times to the hotel and was told the same thing that no rooms were available. We then spoke to the Thomas Cook Rep who tried to talk to reception but was told the same. It also stated on our invoice that it was a double room when it fact it was single beds which is usually normal abroad but again it should show this. We made the most of it though and just enjoyed our holiday. The hotel is situated right on a beach which was absolutely filthy. There is a pier which goes out onto the water and this was one of the reasons we choose the hotel. When we arrived we couldnt even walk out onto it. It was a mess with boards up and nails sticking out. Very dangerous especially with kids going around. You certainly couldnt walk about bare foot. The amount of people we saw with casts on their feet or bandages etc was unreal. The hotel is also situated across the road from a Mosque and you hear them calling at least 3 times a day usually at about 5am to start with. A bit annoying. On the good points the views are stunning and the weather was fantastic. The food was very poor indeed. There wasnt enough fresh fruit just apples and plums and always seemed to be bread things for every course. My partner isnt fussy with food and usually eats anything but even he said it was very poor and wouldnt come again. The entertainment is on for 40 minutes per night and thats the lot. Typical for all inclusive resorts from what I have seen. The all inclusive drinks are very poor indeed. Its okay if you like vodka, whiskey, gin or beer or wine that tastes of vinegar but dont expect anything else unless your prepared to pay for it. Cocktails are very rare and there is never any alcohol in them if they decide to make them up. We had a late flight home and check out is 12 noon on the day. We were not getting picked up to be taken to the airport until midnight. You can book a late check out but it costs 80 lira and you still need to be out at 5pm if you can manage to get one. What we did was use the spa downstairs in the hotel which is open until 8pm. Saves you money. The staff are always very friendly and helpful apart from the reception staff. All in all we had a great holiday as we made it the best we could and while we are on holiday nothing gets us down but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Great place for nice relaxed holiday
We stay ed in this hotel for 7 days and it was a pleasant experience. High level of service and cleanliness. Food, food, food was excellent. I put on weight about 3kg in 7 days. It was ALL INCL. basis and there was something to eat every 2 hours!!! Alcohol drinks for free. Fantastic swimming pool and nice gardens. I advise to stay in the bungalows (villas) rather than in the high hotel. The only disadvantage was that this place was remote and far away from any town. But this may be an advantage if someone prefers that. It was next to the road which was behind the hotel, but in quite a big distance, so cars weren't a problem. I think beach could have been better, but that's my opinion. In all, we loved it, but probably wouldn't be back as would try other hotels in Turkey.
