Well what can we say - after reading...

Sep 2008, Mr M Jackson

Well what can we say - after reading the reviews we were worried about the hotel but arrived there on the wednesday evening and first impression was good and where had those comments come from..............??
The bathrooms were basic along with the rooms but what more can you ask for when paying that price and they were clean enough - the staff could not be any more helpful and friendly - with good enough english to get through the week and excellent service.
No complaints at all - great food, great staff, great place overall - WILL DEFO BE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (along with 3-4 couples we spoke to who are going back and have been doing for the past couple of years or more)

We were not disappointed on our first...

Aug 2006, Mrs A Bradshaw

We were not disappointed on our first visit to Turkey, even though I managed to break my toe on arrival! The shops are very cheap, but nothing is real, don't be fooled that it is. The beaches are very crowded, and people look like sausages in a rather large pan, sizzling away side by side. There is a less crowded beach further up the coast in Icmeler, but that isn't really a great deal better. The sea doesn't seem to contain any fish! Despite going on a boat trip which promised a visit to the fish farm, we snorkeled for ages and saw none!
Marmaris town is bustling with shops, tourists, and all manner of people trying to flog everything from fake handbags to slippers which curl up at the end. The locals do tend to listen though when you say 'no' politely, and don't generally chase you down the road as they do in some other countries.
The food in Marmaris was excellent, and cheap. Mainly serving steaks, and pasta, all dishes were preceded by bread and garlic butter. The main dish in every restaurant was served with rice, chips, salad and vegetables, all for around £6.
The Turkish baths are great value for money. You can spend most of the day being scrubbed, lathered and massaged for around £7!
Boat trips are very cheap, at around £20, you can have a whole day sailing, with lunch chucked in. Drinks are extra though.
The Turkish night at Hervansaray was very good value for money. For around £13 we ate a 3 course meal, and were entertained by belly dancers, a fire eater, and some people dancing in national costume. The drinks (local wine and beer) were free all night. Don't book through a rep though, you will pay about £10 more.
The local busses are cheap, most short journeys costing about 60p. Taxis are not so cheap, but are readily available.
All in all, I've traveled the world, and Turkey is a place I would visit again, good food, good value for money, friendly people, and a safe atmosphere.
