Just back from the pearl ideal with my partner, unfortunately we were not supposed to be in this hotel but the grand ideal which we had booked for, was overbooked! and as this is the sister hotel we were moved here. To be honest i think that they just take your money and allocate you on arrival to any of the two choices. Anyway the hotel itself is very nice, we were given an excellent room (i think because we were not supposed to be there) the guys who work in the hotel, especially at the bar, were first class once you get to know them they will do anything for you and make you feel at home, they even came out to give us a kiss and cuddle on our departure, reception staff were also very polite and friendly, always sayed good morning and a wave when you were going out. I think because it was coming to the end of season there was not much in entertainment, although there was a turkish night with belly dancers on the Friday night, but that was it. There were plenty sunbeds available up untill about midday which i thought was acceptable but again that may have been because it was late in the year but i might add the hotel was full. The location was okay but not ideal although there were plenty bars around, the hotel at night time was a little off the main road which i personaly do not like. The food....now were do I start, breakfast! Not much to choose from for british except for some bread that you could toast and cereal, unless you like a nice salad for breaky, no? To be honest we only ate in the hotel a few times because we did not fancy the food, what we did have was ok but really repetative day and night, day after day night after night, so unless you feel you do not mind going out to eat, all inclusive was a bit of a waste of money. The beer was good, as was the gin, we may have had our monies worth from our consumption! All in all had a good holiday at the Ideal Pearl if I had to return I would not probably go AI

the hotel itself, was lovely, stylish and clean, maid came everyday, even waiting until we had left the room before coming in. all the staff were very friendly especially muslim and fahri (who barely spoke a word of english tho we still managed to go to the pub for a pint!!) the only downside to the hotel was the food, not great, unless your a fan of stew and sardines! i would recommend b&b basis as there are some fabulous restaurants nearby, especially piccassos on the corner they do an amazing steak! definately our fave pub, the guys are a great laugh!

i wouldnt go back to turkey unfortunately as the hassle we got was unbelievable, somethings were said to me that i wouldnt dare repeat and im from glasgow!!! very vulgar, especially the bazaar in marmaris (icemeler was much nicer) a couple of guys tried to corner us in the shop and were threatening us when we tried to leave, i hate to think what would have happened if my boyfriend wasnt there, or it was me and a girlfriend on our own, i wouldnt want to tar every1 with the same brush as we met some great people over there, but it did put us off!

oh, and dont buy a boat trip from the guys on the beach, go to the marina itself and u can pick your own boat, we had a wee tiny one, but there are some really nice ones!

I stayed at the Ideal Pearl Hotel for one week in August. The hotel is very nice and very modern but not as friendly as I thought it would be. I have stayed in Turkey a few times and this had got to be the worst hotel for being so unfriendly. The breakfast was continental and wasn't very good but there is a lovely bar not far from the hotel which offers breakfast for a very reasonable rate so we found ourselves eating there most days. The air conditioning wasn't brilliant and you are charged 35 Lira for the safety deposit box which I thought was quite steep.

Be very careful about your towels because on the second day ours got stollen! We had been swimming and then decided to go for breakfast and when we returned our towels had gone!

The rooms are quite small and we had to put a complaint in about our bathroom as the light was hanging out of the fitting!

Apart from this it was a very enjoyable holiday and the pool is really clean and a nice size but after saying all this, I don't think that I would stay there again.

Me and my husband have just been on our honeymoon to turkey and we couldn't of asked for a better hotel and we plan to go again next year. The rooms were clean, fresh and modern.A maid came everyday for fresh towels and bedding,if you didnt want them to change the bedding you just made the bed yourself and they would leave it alone. We generally didnt have breakfast as we weren't up early enough but there are places to have a late breakfast just a 2minute walk away, that was the only time we went out to eat,the lunch and evening meals were delicious. They served soup for starters for both lunch & evening,we didnt know what soup we were eating but they were yummy every time. They had a large buffett of hot & cold meals and salads, the hot food was lovely. It didnt look particulary nice, and i can be a fussy eater but we put some on our plates and gave it a try and we were impressed.I would definatley say even if it doesnt look great just give it a try,you may be pleasantly surprised. The best part was the desserts they were gorgeous. There wasnt much evening entertainment but there are plenty of bars just a two minute walk away or if you wanted to go clubbing by the beach it was a short taxi or mini bus ride.I would recommend if your looking for a lively bar near by then look for van gogh's bar, they are friendly and funny and are full of energy they'll keep you going all evening and their drinks are reasonably priced. We loved everything about our holiday we plan to stay at the same hotel as we couldnt fault anything about it,we would usually stroll down to the poolside after lunch and we were still able to get a sunbed so we were happy about that and the staff were very polite. Make sure if you stay at this hotel you go and see the hotel photograher he is brilliant and good value.

Having just returned from Turkey thought I had to write a review on the lovely hotel and Marmaris itself.

The hotel was a good, quite modern and very clean. We were on a B&B basis, but didn't think much of the continental style breakfast. When we were at the hotel it was full of Russians, they are rude, arrogant and the girls clearly love themselves as Russia's next top model!! If you want a lounger by the pool you have to be down early, think the Russians are worse than the Germans for getting their towels out early! As we were just on B&B basis most days we went down to this platform/jetty to sunbath, was quiet than around the pool.

The reception staff were very friendy, espeically Turgay, really nice guy. Also, another member of staff stood out from the rest was Ariff the security guy, he wore his heart on his sleeve, what a genuinely lovely person.

For meals we mainly stuck to a few restaurants we really liked which were Mezza on the main road, very reasonable and lovely food. Mr Ali's was recommended by one of the reception staff, even though it was hardly ever busy the food was delicious and the staff were really friendly and would do any changes to the dishes you wanted. Also, Natalies, very popular restaurant in Marmaris, always busy but worth the wait.

Only bad side to this holiday were some of the excursion and shop staff could get a bit funny with you if you wouldn't buy. Watch out for the excursion place next to the Cosy Corner, the people that work there are extremely rude, just look out for the guy with the rats tail hanging from the back of his head!! We eneded up ignoring them so think they soon got sick of iritating us.

Also, if you have a late flight, and have to use the facilities of the shower rooms downstairs you have to paid to use the towels down there, so just beware they arent free to use.

All in all though a great holiday

Just back. Great hotel, no complaints however the air conditioning could be a bit better. We were fortunate enough to get a suite, which was a bonus! rooms were always cleaned, hotel was always very clean! Staff at recpetion were very nice as were the security! close enough to everything and not to far from the beach, 2minute walk! Go to the cosy corner bar just across the road, staff are excellent as is the food and drink! Always good for a laugh! My only problem was the amount of Russians there, very rude and ignorant people! However, they said there will be none next year so i will certainly be going back! Excellent hotel overall!

Myself and my boyfriend have just been in turkey for a weeks holidays and we had the most amazing time! The hotel was lovely and the service was great, we got on so well with all the staff. The pool area is very clean however if you want a sunbed u have to be down early to get one. Breakfast wasnt exactly the best so we were glad that this was the board we had chosen. we would have had sum bread toasted to start us off but it wasnt really catered for all cultures. If you are going to turkey and have never been here or maybe never been on a hot beach holiday and arent used to the sun then i would not recommend you come here in july or august. I spent too long in the sun and fainted in a shop and we both spent the next day very sick. we seen a doctor which cost us £50 and got sorted with tablets. When we go back it will be in may/june. In july it was between 40c and 50c. If booking with Thomas Cook or any other travel agents, you will meet with your rep either the day you arrive or the day after, dont be pushed into booking trips with them!! they are more expensive than those that you can buy on the street and you are tied down on certain days to go. We lost £80 on a trip because we were sick and let them know less than 24hr before hand. You never know what will happen so just tell them you will book another day you want to have a think. They will tell you they book up quick but just stand strong lol When out shopping in marmaris bargain bargain bargain!!!! and dont be afraid to try and get the price down. i bought 2 prada bags for £20 each, and he orginally wanted £70 for both. When shopping buy all your bits and pieces with sterling as they are mad for it and when eating out pay in Lira. The food is dirt cheap so enjoy it! Book extra luggage as well when booking your holiday and we only had 15kg each and on the way we were slightly over and we got away with it but on the way back at dalaman airport they are very strict and we paid £18 though we thought it would have been more but it would be cheaper to pay when booking your holiday. There are sooo many things i could say but it would take a long time to write it out. Heres my email address if you have any questions! colettemckenna3010@hotmail.co.uk

Hotel Ideal Pearl.

we have been to this hotel twice and i must admit it has gone downhill, since becoming all inclusive.

Last year when we stayed at this hotel the staff were abseloutely brilliant, this year they were boring and dull.

The pool was fine, and somedays we did run out of sunbeds, however the beach was close and cheap, we recomend infinity beach, the staff are welcoming and friendly.

The hotel service was great complaints were dealt with and the air conditioning was great!

However we do not recomend the turkish bath, in this hotel.

The staff in this department are rude and discomforting, i wouldnt recomend anybody to get this done, in this hotel.

throughout the full holiday, we discoverd two pubs that we really enjoyed and spent alot of time in them.

Blackpool, the staff are great and welcoming and the owner mehmet is a good laugh, Jason the main entertainer is from barnsley and he is brilliant.

However, our favourite pub was VAN GOGHS HOUSE, right near our hotel you turn right when u hit picassos and you cant miss it.

You are welcomed in straight away and it feels like you have new the ladz in there forever. they love dancing and like having a good time. They are great with little kids and get everyone involved.

The main lad to welcome you in is Jay Jay he is just a scream and desvers a real good tip.

The main Bartender we got to know was serevet he spoke little english but couldnt try harder to learn, and deal with your every need.

If you visit turkey you have to give this pub a try and dont forget to try the food its out of this world.

Thats all i have to say, its the best holiday we have had and look forward to next year.

I have just returned from a holiday in marmaris 1 week ago. The hotel was very modern and the rooms were clean, however the maid visited very early in the morning and when we would ask her to return later at a resonable time she wouldnt come back. Previous of times we had to ask for towels and toilet rolls. When i had first went to breakfast it more looked like a lunch time buffet than breakfast. They never catered for all cultures, there was only salads cheeses bread and a very poor selection of ceral. When we went to get drinks from the bar on our first day we were not informed we had to have a card and pay money on to it which was a bit of a pain and very expensive. The safe was to expensive to purchase as they wanted 70 lira for the safe for 2 weeks plus the deposit, usually you would get you money back but you would only get your 10 lira deposit back. Round the pool area was kept clean, however there was a lack of sun beds. The hotel is in a nice area and is central to the main beach and restuarnts. I would only reccomened this hotel if you were only looking for a place to sleep and sun bath.

We have just returned from a two week break in the Ideal Pearl hotel in Marmaris and we had a ball, the hotel was fantastic, spotlessly clean and friendly, the hotel is moving to an all inclusive hotel later this year and it did seem to cater more for the all inclusive guests (mainly Russian) but we were B&B and we would recommend anyone going to Marmaris to always choose B&B as the meals are really cheap and the food is absolutely fabulous in almost all the bars and restaurants, for six adults we were approximately 100-120ytl or £40-£50 for meals with drinks. The Government have introduced a 100% tax on alcohol since we were last in Turkey (4 years ago) so it is about £1.80 per pint and £4.50 for a whiskey or vodka but you can buy duty free at the airport when entering or exiting Turkey. BEWARE...THE BARS IN THE AIRPORT ARE A RIP-OFF we were charged £7.70 for a large beer and we heard loads of horror stories from other guests like £7 for a packet of pringles etc.. Marmaris is superb and very hot 42c-52c everyone is so friendly and cannot do enough for you, If you want to do any of the excursion trips then we recommend DANNY WALLACE next to Picasso's on the icmeler road, tell him "BIG BOBBY from Scotland" sent you (private joke). If you only do one trip make sure its the Turkish bath it is fabulous, Danny's price was 20ytl each where-as our hotel was charging 60ytl for an in-house mini Turkish Bath..

We recommend a trip to icmeler market on a Wednesday (cheaper than shop-lifting),

eating at: Andy's... Picasso's... Almost any other bar will serve good food

We DONT recommend the Bazaar (very repetitive and still hassled) but thats a personal choice...

A lot of hotels are changing to all inclusive and this will eventually have an effect on the bars and restaurants but as of this year you'll be hard pushed to beat Marmaris for a fantastic two week break...

Our hotel room was superb - this was because we were upgraded to a suite room. Originally we were placed on the top floor in a room which frankly, was not very nice. Unfortunately if you are put in one of these rooms, I'd say you wouldn't be as happy as we were, although it depends what you like.

The top floor rooms were very outdated, quite small, musty, not very clean, and had sloping ceilings which meant my partner could not even stand up in parts of the room (the whole side of the room which has the patio doors to the balcony).

Once upgraded, we were much happier and the room resembled the photos we had seen on the internet - so these are clearly taken of the suites, which is a warning to those of you who may not realise this. I think the agents generally use photos of the re-done rooms lower down (not the top floor) which are nice, but I have seen some websites using the photos of the suites.

The hotel is generally in a good location - the 'centre' of Marmaris stretches right down the beach front and the hotel is towards one end of the beach. You can get to the heart of Marmaris (the marina area) by walking along the sea front, although be prepared for a 40-45 minute walk (depending on how fast you are!). There are regular buses which stop as you hail them down on the main road which is 30 seconds from the hotel, and they are dirt cheap, but sometimes very busy and not too big (they are just like vans).

The hotel staff were ok - reception were always very friendly and nice, and some of the waiters were also chatty, but a couple of them were slightly strange.

We ate at the hotel a few times - buffet as you'd expect. Generally not a bad selection but nothing amazing - just what you'd anticipate from a Greek/Turkish hotel. They had some entertainment in the evening - belly dancing and so on, and a film, and music most nights (all of this and the food outside).

The best place to eat in the whole of Marmaris in my opinion is the Taj Mahal near the centre of the town. It's English owned and the food is amazing. Slightly more expensive than other restaurants but well worth it. To be honest, we struggled for places to eat as Marmaris is full of cheap places where the food isn't brilliant and it's harder to find places that don't start a full on disco trying to outdo next door's disco at 9pm. We found another place on the sea front which was quieter, the staff were polite and the food was a bit more refined, but I can't remember the name! It has peach/orange table cloths and looks a bit classier compared to others around it.

The hotel generally was really nice and smart. The reception area is quite modern with leather sofas and marble and looks quite chic. It also looks clean. There is a Turkish massage place under the hotel which we used - I'd say it was fairly priced and good. If you like massages, the guy does a good firm massage although the specific massage I chose didn't have much effect (it was supposed to help you tan) but the massage itself was nice.

I hadn't been to Marmaris before this holiday and ended up not liking the place much, but I am trying to stay neutral for those who do like the place and are looking more for a review of the hotel. So here are my good and bad points:

Good points:

- Hotel generally is very clean and smart, and has been done up well in the places that have been modernised

- Taj Mahal restaurant is fantastic - honestly the best Indian I've had.

- Good location in the sense that it's not manic and you don't get many drunk people going past etc.

- Generally enough sunbeds for everyone and the waiters do come round with drinks and food.

- Markets sell a range of products very cheaply if you're in to that kind of thing, and you can head up to Icmeler for them as well.

- Lots of choice on trips - loads of places selling trips round the marina and on the streets, but make sure you haggle. The trip we went on wasn't really very good compared to the Thompson trips though. Do haggle to have all drinks included and beware that 'all inclusive' doesn't always mean everything - e.g. you can have all the own brand cola you want, but not water.

- Good bus service (very regular) and cheap to get to Icmeler (slightly better beach - much bigger) and to the centre.

Bad points:

- Hotel lunch menu is not the best for variety and the food is also quite poor at lunch time.

- Marmaris itself is very loud, commercialised and full of the same type of pubs ('fun pubs') and music with similar routines going on in each place (waiters dancing to the Cha Cha Slide, etc).

- The beach is quite poor - shingle, narrow and didn't look all that clean to me.

- The people are ok, but I just hated the hassle - be prepared for being hassled everytime you go out at tea time. The markets are bad for this too.

- There is a bar near the hotel which gets quite loud (karaoke) and I imagine if you had a young child or baby, or needed some sleep, and were on the swimming pool side of the hotel, you'd struggle a bit, but it's generally not too bad but goes on quite late.

- Import drinks and cocktails are pricey - probably what you'd pay here, but that's expensive for Turkey - for example, a cocktail costs more than a meal!

Tips for Thompson customers:

We went on some trips with our agents and thought I'd share the following:

- Trip to Pammukele/Ephesus was amazing - Ephesus gets very very busy but is a good sight if you're in to history and our tour guide was very informative and nice. Pammukele is worth seeing although you don't get a guided tour and you have to pay extra to go in the thermal pools (they don't tell you this before you book). But the thermal pools were amazing and the hotel they put you up in.... is very very nice indeed. It's a thermal spa hotel (5* I think) if you get the same one that we did, it's very classy, the buffet is tremendous - all sorts of things and is enormous and lovely, and the indoor thermal pools are fantastic.

- Last day trip to the mud pools. The mud pools are good fun (although smelly!) and the turtle beach is absolutely gorgeous (makes you dislike Marmaris beach even more!). It's a shame you don't get a full day there.

Word of warning - the hotel they give you for this last day departure trip is not up to scratch at all. Both hotels (the coach was split in to two) were quite unclean, very old fashioned, horrible rooms. Makes you thankful for the Ideal Pearl. I was so glad we only had to spend a few hours there.

All in all a damn good holiday, the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. We got on very well with everybody. The pool was immaculate they cleaned it every morning and night, there was enough room for everybody and more to enjoy themselves.

The staff were fun laughing and joking the downside was they were hard to understand what with limited English but they knew the basics, which was enough. As this was mine and my boyfriends first holiday together we were very happy with the hotel and would definitely recommend the hotel to anybody going to Marmaris.

One thing that we was disappointed with was the lack of night time entertainment as there wasn't any, so we found that we had to leave the hotel after dinner to find some fun! There was a few places we found that we thoroughly enjoyed which were close by these were.

The cosy corner, the staff were very friendly and fun and made you feel very welcome there was no hassle too which was a big plus. Van gogh's restaurant , was very good also the same as before very friendly and no hassle also very nice food!.

One thing that was really disappointing was the Thomson rep or lack of as we never seen him after the welcome meet we booked the Dalyan checkout which was an end of holiday excursion but he didn't tell us what time the bus was picking us up at or we couldn't get in contact with him at all, so we ended up downstairs in reception luggage in hand waiting for over an hour so we didn't miss the bus which was kind worrying. so we were down stairs at seven and then they finally picked us up at nine I would recommend the Daylan checkout as you enjoy a nice boat trip out all including food and then you go to a hotel to freshen up before you leave for the airport only half an hour to drive to instead of the three hours it took getting there.

Enjoy your holiday though because you wont be disappointed with your hotel.

Hotel Ideal Pearl has been renovated about 2 years ago and looks and feels it's just been built. The hotel is about 100m from the main rd and 300m from the beach and is away from the busy centre by a 15min. walk or 1.25 lira (50p) dolmus bus ride.

The hotel is spotlessly kept clean and the rooms are adequate with a proper flush toilet.

The continental breakfast was always complimented with 3 types of cereal, some kind of egg ie.boiled, omelette and other things.

The sunbeds were always available at all times of the day. The hotel operates some type of credit system were you have to put the money upfront.

Evening dinner is also available at about 14 lira (£5.60) for a few courses.

Whilst staying there no day entertainment was provided and evening entertainment consisted each night of a movie by the pool.

Outside the hotel road is each night a local craft market but very few customers.

All in all this is a very nice hotel and I’m sure you won't have nothing to worry about staying in this place in a good location with some good eating places around like Picasso, van Gogh and Magic house.

I have just returned back from the Ideal Pearl and I had a great 2 weeks.

The hotel was brilliant and the staff could not do enough for us. The hotel was always clean and our hotel room was cleaned daily.

The staff would do anything for their customers!! We are hoping to come back in October!!

Would advise this hotel to anyone did not want to come back. It should be a five star hotel!

There was a lovely pool and a nice poolside bar with food served very quickly.

Overall was 10 out of 10.
