I stayed at the Istankoy in July. Having previously lived in Turkey I have a good understanding of the cleanliness standards most Turkish adhere to. Turkish people are usually the cleanest people you can meet. Not at the Istankoy. The mini bar was filthy. The cleaner did... more

Fantastic Holiday
Fantastic hotel really friendly and fun staff. Great combination of guests of all ages and no children - probably due to time we went (early July). Rooms where pleasant and the situation of hotel was fantastic. Less then a minutes walk to the shops and bars but far enough away that it was still quiet. If I was to visit Bodrum again I'd definately stay here as we were made very welcome and the hotel in general had a really good atmosphere about it. Only downfall I found was that all food and drink had to be bought from the hotel and they did charge a little more than the local shops. Overall though a great holiday with a very chilled but still active atmosphere
great hotel love our stay be back again
Stayed at this hotel on 25/6/07 for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time my wife and myself will both be back there all the staff made an effort to please rooms were cleaned everyday the 2 week stay and the food was great there are eggs bread and tea along with cheese and meats every morning which for a contential breakfast was great there is also english breakfast on menu for a small fee drinks at the bar are as cheap as any where in the town but some bars will charge you a bit more than what you pay at hotel general manager erhan very nice and plesant person and easy to speak to as he speaks perfect english also the bar staff all english speaking we have travelled to turkey now 13 times and this hotel rates as one of the best we have stayed in so thank you to all the staff .les+ betty x
loved the istankoy
we had a fantastic time staying in this hotel.the staff are very friendly and helpful and gave us loads of laughs.the location is excellent only 2 minutes walk 2 bar street.beware of participating in the conga around the pool !!!!, oh and don't request more towels lol. we hope to visit again in june 2008. great place
great place for a fortnights holiday.the hotel and rooms are spotless.the staff made you very welcome and looked after all our needs.the turkish night is a must do with a swim afterwards with ARRON in the pool
Ok if you like to party non stop
The staff at the Istankoy are very friendly but dont really take anything too seriously, that includes complaints. Most of the rooms are tiny and i had high expectations about cleanliness from here and they def were not met, mouldy showers, cracked toilets and a horrible view from the balcony (see pics). The breakfast consisted of bread, salami, cucumber and tomato and thats it! The hotel is very pretty to look at and the pool although small and sun lounging areas are great. I would say that if you want a quiet/relaxing holiday then stay away, the rooms are situated in a circle around the pool and bar and they are really really noisy especially at 4.00am when everyone comes home after their night out. Bodrum itself is fantastic but i wouldnt stay here again as i like to be able to sleep on holiday.
best place ever stayed in Turkey!!!
This hotel was recomended by by Friend sonya who has been 2 Gumbet&Bodrum a total of 13 times!!! Ive been more south east In Alanya 5 times which i loved and Kusadassi& Marmaris 1 which i hated.. Bodrum 2 which i love and sadly the rest of my family want 2 go 2 Gumbet this year so as much as i tried 2 get them 2 come 2 Bodrum and stay in Istankoy they were having none of it.. but i reckon thats coz they,ve never stayed in Bodum b4... Istankoy was a joy 2 stay in we were very well looked after by all the very friendly and hospitable staff... hassan is a joy 2 be around and can really cheer u up when u need it... cellchuck the receptionist isnt so friendly... Fiko the house keeper is great and so helpfull the maids r brill they had r room spotless with clean towels eveyday and beds changed twice weekly... in more occasions i left money around the hotel room and jewellery and was never touched id trust these people with my life.. well maybe not harum he's a little 2 over friendly and a bit of a charmer quite puky actulay but still is a nice guy and wud go out of his way 4 u... the manager jeff is lovely here also and any problem she'll b only 2 happy 2 sort but i guarntee u their wont.. this little gem is all on the flat minutes 4 everything and is so under rated in brochures it shud b bumped up 2 al least 3* the hotel all in all is basic, friendly, homely the only down side is they cud b slightly bigger this wud definately get hotel another star rating and food v good and cheap although the nicest restaraunt around that area is golden plate and 4 chinese is eastern gate on bodrum marina and the owner their ali is amazing and his freindly and courteous staff.... hav fun Nicola Portadown N-Ireland
Loved it and going back....
What a brill holiday... everything was better than I expected!!! The people were fab, the hotel was spotless and very friendly, the nightlife was awsum and the food was spot on. I wish I hadnt listened to all the people that told me to watch the men because we were 2 single blonde females with a pulse... I have learnt my lesson now... never listen to others always make your own mind up. I never found anyone sleasy just very friendly and if you do find some unwanted attention just tell them, their only trying to make your holiday as good as possible. For the nightlife bar street is a must, start with a stunning meal at the Golden Plate which is situated between an array of bars and clubs! Women please make sure you go see the male pole dancers in the White House... well worth it I can promise you. I will be going back next year, but this time for two weeks and to those people that didnt like the place.... DONT COME BACK! There are plenty of us that did enjoy it so we don't need you lot to spoil what can only be described as one of the best holidays I've had!!!! Make sure if you do go say hi to the Hassan's behind the bar in the Istankoy... what brill people, see ya next year x x Love from the Welsh Ladyz, JESS & HELEN
Top Holiday
I stayed here last month with my boyfriend for 2 weeks as our first ever holiday, iv been to gumbet before but never bodrum. The hotel was very small, simple and friendly. Everyone knew each other and became friends, the staff are very friendly but girls be careful of harem as he can be too friendly with his sly comments and chat up lines, which did make me feel a little uncomfortable but apart from that the rest were brilliant! Hassan is always happy and cheers you up too, jack is a good laugh and will sit up very late with you in the bar! They always put on good entertainment and the pool parties are top especially with everyone getting pushed in on the Turkish nights. When arriving at the hotel I was a bit disappointed with the room as im sure we had the smallest in the whole hotel but we were hardly in it so it was ok. The nightlife in Bodrum is not what I expected it to be as there wasn't much so we just got the local buses to Gumbet all the time which is a good night! Next time I will go back to Gumbet I think simply for the more active nightlife and restaurants and things are a lot cheaper there! I would recommend this hotel, nearlly everyone we met on our holiday was on their 3rd or 4th year at this hotel so it must be enjoyable! Anyway enjoy your holiday at Istankoy and id advise not to fall asleep on the sun terrace as YOU WILL BURN! Cam xx
oi oi Istankoy
We have been back from Istankoy 4 a few week now. If your lookin 4 a laugh and non stop partin then this is the place to go. If you go out 4 the nite an still fancy a few drinks then get back to Istankoy Hotel where they will be happy 2 serve you but SSHHHHH!! The people that we met in the 2 week of been their were really friendly. had a lot of good nites out. The staff there was really friendly too if you want a laugh just see Hassan at the bar he will sing you songs an tell you funny jokes all he ever says is OH ----! An if you see one of the staff dancin every 2 mins then thats Gengis. Cant wait till next year 2 see every one back at the Hotel. Thanx 2 everyone that made our holiday the best one we have been on. Thats Karren an Jonny,Carol an Barry an Glenn,Warren and the rest of the irish lot you were all a laugh. P.S Hope to see you all soon luv Zoe an Stella x x x
Oi Oi Istankoy
Oi, Oi, Istankoy!! Anyone call for the rowdy bunch? Tuff ----. 6 of us in a group from northern ireland turned this hotel into a fantastic place to stay for 2 weeks! Met a loada loverly folks. I would recomend this hotel to anyone who is looking a laff on their holiday. Porblem is tho, if you like to stay out late and continue to drink on even tho the rest of the place has gone to bed, the istankoy will happily serve you. Just one thing. SSSSHHHHHH! the world famous phrase that means the same in any language. Even tho the Turkish staff can speak a little they are very fond of telling you to SSSSHHHH! at 5am in the morning.. lol. The Staff in the hotel are amazing, and have the patience of a saint. We really did make some noise and did do some radical things from causing havock to starting a pool party on the turkish nite, asking for tee-shirts to screaming chants to anyone who would listen. Hassan, most famous for "Oh ----" & "Yes Please" will take care of you during the day with "Hassan's Disco" where Gengis will just humour you with his irregualar dance routines. Guys & Gals - but seriously, this hotel looks nothing from its pictures but when you get there you get the best reception and the food is very cheap and most enjoyable. Overall i would give this hotel alot more credit than its been given. Dancing Dave, Dave the Rave, Stella & Co, Liz & Co, Johnny & The Missus, Andy & Paula, Wee Mikey, David & Losuie, Scuba Steve & His Biatch, Scuba Dave & His Biatch, Scuba Daft & Anyone else i missed out guys you made my holiday. Thanks for everything! Scuba Diva .aka Glenn Oh one last thing. If you dont want to eat in the hotel i strongly recommend "The First Stop" for food. Omar, Adem, Oz & Big Ali will take care of you! they are fab! Hope to see everyone back, same time next yr!
