The hotel itself was very nice, modern and clean. Modern and spacious rooms with everything you need. Air con is free which is always a bonus. There are a few downsides to this hotel which became more annoying as the holiday went on. Lovely size pool with slide but not... more

The biggest downside of the Candan appartments is that its clientele is exclusively British and therefore lacks a cosmopolitan feel. The apartment we had was clean, well-maintained and cleaned daily. Staff were generally helpful and service in the bar/restaurant good. ... more

Having read a number of other reviews on this complex, I find myself wondering whether we stayed at the same place! It is alright, but not the best hotel in Turkey. To put these comments into perspective, I will say that over the past 35 years, I have travelled to most... more

Best holiday ever
This was our first visit to Turkey and also the first time I had travelled alone with my daughter. We arrived at Club Candan (pronounced Jandan) 11.30pm, the staff coudn't have been more helpful taking our cases to our room and helping with our enquiries. We went down to eat at midnight and they were happy to cook whatever we wanted. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and staff are always happy to help. The pool is lovely, the small pool is great for the little one's and the big slide is great for older ones!! People reserve sunbeds even though they are told not to. The only way you will get one is if you go down at 6.30am then go back to bed for a bit. As long as your on your sunbed by 10.30 you'll be ok. If you're not the staff will remove your towels and leave them in reception. The taxi rank is right outside the main entrance, agree a price before you get in or make sure they put the meter on. Marmaris itself is a bustling place with loads to do and see.We booked 3 trips with the Thompson reps. The Dalyan trip, (the mud baths are a must!!)aqua marine water park and the scuba diving. All of them were what we considered to be very good value for money. You can book all the trips with the street traders (and they will hassle you loads!) Just sy no thanks and they will leave you. Some people did book with them and they had just as much fun and it was cheaper so maybe next time we will book with them. The restaurants will all try to get you in. We ate at Summer Rain and Janas. Janas was FABULOUS!!! The waiters were so friendly and the food ws delicious. They have a mix of English and Turkish music and they encourage you to get up and dance. (They're fine if you don't want to though) The Turkish dance is so funny and my daughter and I never wanted too leave. We spent every night there because the entertainment in the hotel wasn't up to much. We ate in the hotel some days and the food is fine. It's slightly more expensive than in town but not much. There is a supermarket just down the road called Dia. You can get everything you need there. Look out for their special offers, we got big bottles of sprite for 40p! You can go to Tansas which is a bigger supermarket but we weren't that impressed. We used Turkish lira everywhere. The Market is on a Thursday and its very hot in there! They want English money but be careful or you will get ripped off. We bought a few things and they weren't very good so be caqreful and don't pay too much for anything. Offer them a quarter then barter. We are definatly going back as we didn't have time to do everything. If you've booked to go to Club Candan your certainly in for a great holiday. Remember your going to a different country with different cultures and traditions. Isn't that why we go to new countries? Last ot all take a high protection suncream! It was 45oc most days and you WILL get burnt! Take care and Enjoy!!!!
terrible, dirty, hot, apartments
we have just returned from this complex and wish we had stayed at home. the cleaning of the apartments was absolutely terrible, we had permanent dirty feet from walking around the apartment barefoot( the temperature was 45 degrees in the shade with no aircon in the lounge/ kitchen, only in the bedroom). we watched the so called cleaners spend all of 3 minutes cleaning our apartment which consisted of a lounge/ kitchen, bathroom and 1 bedroom. the food and drink was very expensive at this site and the waiters were not very helpful at all in fact all they seemed to be interested in was how much tip you gave them and their next female conquest. the marble floors throughout the complex were very slippery and accidents caused by guests slipping were happening daily and ranged from serious cuts and bruising to broken bones. there were several cases of theft of passports/ money while we were there even though they were locked in the apartment safe. overall this was the worst holiday we have ever experienced, the area around the complex is very dirty and rundown and we even thought of coming home after 3 days even though we had booked and paid for 14 days. finaly a word of warning about dalaman airport, a small bottle of water costs £2 and a very small coca- cola costs £4 in the airport foodcourt so buy your drinks before you get on the coach for your return flight or better still choose somewhere else for your holiday. definitely not a 4 star complex, i wouldnt give it 1 star.
very nice great pool and location kids loved it
we are a family of 5 stayed in June 7th-21st 07, it was very hot whilst we were there, we have 3 children ages 7,3,and 1 and they all loved it here, the childrens pool is really nice and they loved the main pool too, its clean safe and tidy here, a nice walk to the local restaurants and beach front so you are way from the noise at night. There is a mosque nearby but it never woke any of us not even the baby so i wouldnt worry about it. The bedlinen and towels were not changed very often so i asked at reception and they were changed straight away. All the staff are very friendly, we never ate there once only because we liked to walk up the front there were plenty of people eating there and never heard of any complaints. You are a 2 minute walk to the local market held on a Thursday where you can get all your fake designer gear, dont go too mad though as it cost us £30 on the way home in excess baggage!! Overall a very nice holiday and i cant wait to go back!!
nice hotel
We stayed at the Club Candan on 3/7/07 for 10 days the hotel is nice but i thought a bit basic when i read all the other reviews i thought it would be a palace it didn't do for me what it did for all the other reviewers. We found the bar very expensive and the restaurant staff only seemed interested in big groups or big drinkers. But my main holiday let down was the Thomson team through the 10 days of our holiday we were never spoken to or shown any kind of contact by any of the reps my 4 year old daughter did not attend the kids club ( its in the basement of the hotel) but when the kids reps pass her they never smiled or said hello. This was the worst reps team i have ever come across and the entertainment team do not take any notice of you unless you have teenage girls in your group. We went out every night to eat in the bars and restaurants they all make you fill very welcome
Club Candan- Dodgy Air - Con.
We stayed here from 14-6-07 to 28-6-07,the 2nd week Turkey was experiencing a heatwave and you couldn't turn the air - con down low enough to cope with 50C+ temps. It was only in the bedroom as well which meant that the other room was unbearable at night, we hired a fan at £20 for the fortnight and it felt as if you'd got a hot air blower on. Other than that an excellent Hotel with a good pool and Bar area and plenty of Restaurants nearby, the food in the Hotel is good as well with friendly staff. One other thing , the Reps don't tell you is just how expensive it is at the Airport on your return , £3.60 for a can of Coke- 9YTL. And everything else being much more expensive than in Marmaris , even in the Hotels.
Great Apartments the best we have stopped in!!
We returned to Marmaris in May for the 9th time, and Club Candan have been the best apartments we have stopped in although a bit of a walk to our usual haunts on the beach front!! There was even a kids club which we weren't expecting. We were a group of 13 and had 5 1 bedroom apartments between us, the rooms were great for everything we needed and the only problem we had was that 1of them had a disabled shower and no bath and quite often flooded the floor as there was no shower screen or curtain. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for you, as soon as we stepped off the coach they were there to greet us and carry our cases. The entertainment staff Niall and Sophia were great, they kept the kids and adults entertained throughout the day with killer pool and darts, water polo, volley ball and slide races and most evenings there was something going on. Would deffo go again it was brill, the Turkish Bath is a must and going down the slides on a lilo!! Oh what fun we had!! Roll on next year...
Club Candan Apartments Marmaris
I am very positive about Club Candan following a recent visit (May 17th 2007 - 1 week). Great staff, attentive and friendly - not pushy at all. Rooms were clean and tidy, although do not really expect to do any catering in the room - apart from cereal as there is not any meaningful equipment. About 15 min on foot to main supermarket and harbour area, the harbour then goes on for miles. Great restaurants around port area - I would recommed Dede and Jan De Vit - both locations have superb service and are not too pricey - good for kids too. In summary, great set up for a family week away in the sun, plus excellent waterslides to boot!! Richard / Joanne and Archie
Nice hotel
We booked a late deal holiday here in oct 06 for my 30th, allocation on arrival, we were very inpressed!! Our room was lovely, spacious and cleaned well every day.Reception staff we're helpful and polite, pool bar staff entertained my son and were very courteous and playful. Poolbar was expensive but as we hardly paid anythin for the hol it wasnt a problem. The night entertainment was limited but the 2guys who organised it (and daytime fun for kids) were quite funny and outgoing...didnt think much to the dancing girls and their Chicago routines!! All in all it was a lovely stay, close to the beach and bars, would definataly stay at candan again!!!
Nice hotel
We stayed here in May 2006 and it the first week the hotel opened. It was obviously immaculate. The rooms are good sizes and we had clean towels every day and clean bedding every other day. There is a very large pool area with a slide and an entertainment group to keep everyone entertained. Shops etc close to hand . About 15 minute walk into centre of marmaris. All in all we had a very pleasant time here.
