When we first started to visit Altinkum in the early 1990's, this was the hotel we always used. Since that time, we have joined the many Brits who have bought holiday homes in the area, so no longer use the hotels in resort - until this year.
We had been invited to attend a traditional Turkish wedding of very dear friends near Konya, so decided that as we would only be in resort a total of three nights this trip, we would stay in a hotel, rather than our duplex. So, it made sense to go back to what we knew and that proved to be a good move.
The Yildirim is in a good location - just far enough out of the main hubbub to be fairly quiet and close enough for walking down to the beach front or the main shopping area, to be a pleasant experience and not a trek.
The hotel has changed very little in the years since we last visited, but it is well maintained and we found the rooms clean and well presented. Bedrooms have full size fridges, kettles and TV's, with the use of air conditioning an optional extra. The bathroom facilities are basic, but clean and usable. All rooms have a small balcony, furnished with chairs.
The staff are friendly and eager to help. It seemed that our friend who made the booking for us, had booked us one day short, but the hotel staff happily re-jigged things, so that they could accommodate us.
Sadly the inside bar is no longer in use. We fondly remember this in former years, as the main meeting area, especially in the evenings - always someone around to chat with. Now the Pool Bar seems to be the main entertainment area.
Overall, it was a pleasant nostalgic experience for us to be guests at the Yildirim again and we would certainly recommend this small friendly hotel to others.
