I would return, but....

Lovely hotel with spectacular views across Kalkan port. We did have a problem with the bathroom and the smell of sewage. It was brought to the hotels attention, only for chambermaids to be dispatched. The smell did continue throughout the holiday and ultimately the holiday rep' had to be contacted. The majority of the waiters were polite, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. However, there was one individual who constantly harassed my daughter to the point where she felt unable and uncomfortable to lie by the pool.
Beautiful place and wonderful people! Very, very hospitable!

We have just returned yesterday from 2 weeks staying in the Samira Deluxe Appartments and have to say it is one of the best holidays we have ever had. We have previously stayed in villas for our main holiday and had some reservations about booking a larger place, but in the end we need not have worried. The appartments were spotless and cleaned every day and the all of the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them and they looked after us brilliantly. Thanks to Ossie, Hassan and the rest of the team for looking after us so well.
Food in the restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced as are the drinks. There are plenty of sunbeds available throughout the day so no need to worry about getting up early to find a place. The appartments are set back from the town centre but getting into town is easy enough as a courtesy bus service is provided. If you fancy walking, then getting into town is easy enough although the walk back is not for the faint hearted!!!
Kalkan is a lovely place with plenty of wonderful restaurants to choose from all serving delicious food, I would reccomend the seafood casseroles served in a sealed clay pot which the waiters open at your table. Unlike others we did not find prices too expensive and a 2 course meal for 4 with drinks was around 130 TL. The rooftop restaurants are wonderful after a day of sunshine and if you choose one overlooking the bay then the views are spectacular. I would recommend the Saffron.
Amongst other places we visited the Salklient Gorge and did canoeing in the Patara National Park, both were great days out and the canoeing was a really enjoyable fun day, including a mud bath, which is not to be missed.
This was our first time in Turkey and it was a fantastic fantastic place. We will return and I would recommend the Samira Deluxe to anyone

I have just returned from two weeks in one of the Samira de luxe villas behind the hotel complex. We used the restaurant and bar facilities at the complex and can say the staff were absolutely fantastic and we made some great friends. This was our first visit to Kalkan but we cannot wait to return. The Samira de luxe have just opened another apartment block next door to the main hotel which is superb. Thank you to Hassan, Maurat, Ossie and Orcan (not sure if the spellings are correct), for making our holiday a memorable one.

I cannot fault this hotel. The rooms were kept beautifully clean and were excellent value for money. The staff were all wonderful and the receptionist and Manageress were amazing when we had a serious problem with our transfer company Yesil Dalyan who had let not only ourselves down with airport transfers but several others. We ended up having to catch a private taxi back to the airport despite our hotel ringing for two days and faxing over various documents, they could not have been more helpful which is more than I can say for the transfer company.
Kalkan itself is as beautiful as ever - very quiet and for those wishing to eat at the best restaurants that I have experienced in Turkey, an absolute must.

We were moved from the Samira to the Samira Deluxe due to an over booking. After the initial dissapointment we were pleased that we had been moved. Initially we were put into a very small room on the ground floor with a view from the balcony of a brick wall. But to be fair we were put at the Samira Deluxe because our hotel had been over booked and they were very busy, and it was probably all they had left. We heard from other guest that there were much bigger better rooms with brilliant views of Kalkan bay. We really did not like the room we had so we paid extra and rented one of the hotels private villas that are just behind the hotel. I would highly reccommend the villas as they are beautiful and very large. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms over three floors, there is also a small private pool. The beauty is that you also still have all the facilities of the hotel.
The hotel is excellent!! Very clean, great staff , beautiful views !!! It is also much cooler as the hotel is situated out of town. The center of town can get very hot especially at night. The hotel has a shuttle bus three times a day to the outskirts of the town. They used to have them running more frequently but there is a big dispute with the local taxi drivers as they feel that the free bus service is not good for their business. The taxi fare is about 8 turkish lire in each direction.
The only shock that we had was how expensive Kalkan was, we were lead to believe that Turkey was still quite cheap, but this is sadly not the case any more. We found prices no different to London and in some cases more expensive.
A boat trip from the harbour is a must it is about 30 lire per person they are great fun!! Also Kalamar beach club is worth a visit. great for kids, It has a trampoline in the sea that you can swim out to.
Visit Kalkan it is wonderful!!!!

The apartments were the best I ever stayed in for comfort. 2 large sofa beds in the room which were very nicely upholstered, lovely table & chairs. 2 ring cooker, no grill or microwave & a little sparse on utensils but then you expect that.
The staff are all absolutely wonderful, cannot do enough for you. Gerkan on reception is the best, he is just born to that job. The night guy is a little strange but ok for what you need but if there is anything specific you want leave it until daytime to ask.
Kalkan itself is the most romantic place a def must for couples but not much good if you have small children as very hilly & no sandy beach.
Will certainly be returning to Kalkan & the Samira Apartments....

Went to the Samira Deluxe Apartments in the second two weeks of July. (By the way, don't get mixed up with the Samira Hotel, which is situated in the town).
Very, very good value. The apartment was spotless, the pool and bar was excellent, and the staff could not do enough for you. There is a shuttle bus to take you into the town that operates every hour from 9am until 11pm.
There are what seem to be hundreds of restaurants in Kalkan town, all good. Try Ali Babas on the main street for real, tasty Turkish food that is very reasonably priced. The drinks cost more than the food! Huge market in Kalkan every Thursday, where you can buy pretty much anything. Go to Fethiye market too as its HUGE (as is the fruit and vegetable market attached) and you can buy leather goods, clothing etc really cheaply.
Loads of places to visit; brilliant boat trips, loads of archaeological sites, beach clubs in the bay with free shuttle boats (generally wooden piers over the sea where you can jump in and snorkel, sunbathe, eat and drink etc). Bring the snorkelling gear!
Hire a car and get out and see the rest of the area. Saklikent Canyon is one place worth a visit; the water there is freezing, but the place is beautiful.
Great holiday!

Fantastic, Fantastic, Fantastic! Superb holiday, very friendly hotel and staff, fantastic views across the bay and Kalkan town. Can not wait to go back next year.
Very large pool, excellent facilities for children, apartments and hotel spotlessly clean, entertainment provided in the evenings, the staff cannot do enough for you.
Have been on a number oh holidays to Turkey, to a variety of resorts, the Hotel Samira Delux and Kalkan is by far the best of the lot.
