Mixed opinions about Lemas apartments
Having read all the reviews on these apartments I thought I would write about my experience. Starting with the apartments - they were spotless at all times and the pool was cleaned every day. We took our own water down to the pool as it was very expensive to buy it from the bar. Just a warning for anyone with young children the pools are very deep with no shallow end. My stepson was 9 the day we got there and it quite tall for his age, but he could not reach the bottom. Luckly he had some swimming lesson before we came otherwise he would have been able to get in the pool at all. I would say the pool was at least 5.5ft deep. The staff did not have a clue what they were doing - we would go down for breakfast and never pay (not that Im complaining), but would never have had the breakfast otherwise as it was completely tastless. You get very harassed by the waiters/shop keepers and in the end its best to ignore them. In the end we stuck to the same two restuarants they were very welcoming and never bothered us. We did get ripped off in one restuarant. They charged us 140 lira for our meal that had previously in other restuarants cost 70. I had my 13 year old step daughter with me and could not leave her alone for even 5 minutes without her being chatted up by the Turkish men. Never went to the beach as it was too far away. Went to the Old Town of Side, but felt this was too busy and nearly got run over by motorbikes with hurtle down the side roads (on the pavement). Wouldn't go back to Turkey, but then I try not to go to the same place twice as there are too many other places to see.
A great holiday
After reading some of the reviews we went with a little concern and on arrival it appeared that the concerns were correct. Being approx 1km from the beach and a couple of km's from the town center it looked out of the way' how we were wrong with the free bus and taxi's we could get anywhere when we wanted. The appartments were always spottlessand the pool was cleaned every day the bar staff and waiters were great and the prices were not much more than in the town. A place I would recommend to anyone.
Be careful
Stayed at this hotel recently , a bit of a distance from the beach and city but that was not the problem. The staff charged my wife and I twice for a safe deposit and said I could not leave unless I paid the 10 euro (which I stress I paid when we arrived) . I had a voucher/receipt to prove I had paid ; however, this was met with "this only means you got a key to use a safe". I heard 2 other guests having similar problems with price of drinks. Food was fine. Music was terrible (same CDs over and over again). Belly dance night was good. Be careful if u chose this hotel. I will not go back. Regards, Mark
I want to go back!!!
I just got back from a weeks stay at Lemas Apartments and am longing to go back allready! I couldn't fault a single thing. I went with a friend and our apartment was SPOTLESS, we had a brilliant view of the pool etc. (which was always very clean). The staff were really friendly, the bar staff and waiters were a BRILLIANT laugh and had us up dancing every night! Turkish people are so lovely. The apartments are a very short, free bus/cheap taxi ride away from the main resort of Side - this is unavoidable as Side is a protected area due to the ancient ruins etc. therefore no hotels/apartments are allowed to be built in the town. We got the free bus during the day and a taxi if we went into Side at night (Apollo nightclub inside the ruins is ACE!) and found both means of transport easily accessible. In our apartment our beds were made every day/bathroom re-stocked, there were no creepy crawlies anywhere, in fact both of us did not get bitten once the whole holiday! The air-con in the room was a god-send and kept us really cool during the night which was brilliant as the weather was very hot! We had a Turkish massage on the hotel grounds which was amazing and such good value for money. We ate our evening meal at the poolside a few times which was lovely and you see them make it in front of you (not as cheap as going into Side but declicious all the same). Although we are both in our 20's and had quite a social holiday we met many families who loved Lemas just as much as we did! I will definately will be going back, hopefully again next year!
nightmare holiday
I would not recommend this place to anyone. We were a group of 33 english sharing 8 apartments. The staff were very unfriendly and unhelpful. The drinks deal was a rip off the bar kept running out of drinks. We never saw the pool cleaned once while we were there and we were all ill with bad sickness bugs whilst staying there and when we returned home. Several of us had to have a course of anti biotics. The table tennis table collasped on someones foot and she had to have medical attention. The meals in the hotel are charged to your room check your bill when paying that you have not been overcharged. Although Turkey is a beautiful place to go on holiday, i would not recommend Lemas Apartments.
Nightmare
Dont book a holiday to this place whatever you do,it is the worst place you will ever go to, and that is not just my opinion it is also the opinion of every English person i spoke to in that fortnight. The hotel is very nice and clean and the people who work there are ok too, but that ends at the gate. It is a ten minute walk through pitch black streets to get to the main road where there are resteraunts, bars and shops, expect to pay extortionately high prices for everything e.g. £5 for a medium sized bottle of coke or £2.50 for a small bottle of miller, just about every item in the shops and bars was more expensive than the U.K. I was told that i would get hassle in the shops and that i would have to barter but i did not expect to see waiters and barstaff abusing people in the streets and getting surrounded by three or four Turkish shopkeepers to try and make them buy something. The worst part of the holiday was in the town centre of Side when a shopkeeper came flying out a shop in a rage threatening to kill my youngest son who is only fourteen years old, he was shouting and swearing and we had to prevent him from attacking my son until some other shopkeepers pulled him back into his shop, my wife was petrified. We discovered later that my son who has learning difficulties had decided not to pay nearly £4.50 for a small bottle of fanta and so left it on the counter he wanted to kill my son for this because he had been insulted. Other people in the hotel including a single mum would not leave the hotel grounds due to pestering and harrasment. Everywhere you go be on the look out to get ripped of, i fancied a mixed grill one evening at a local resteraunt at £7.50 i thought i would get a good meal,oh what fool i was, my grill consisted of some salad, ten chips, some pitta bread, two chicken wings, one tiny peice of chicken and two tiny burgers, nowhere was good value for money and we all got the runs. The food was expensive and diabolical the only nice meals we had was in the hotel my wife and i both agreed that we should have brought a suitcase full of pot noodles as even the nearby supermarket wanted over £3.00 for a tin of baked beans. The hotel runs a scheme where you settle your bill at the office, keep a close eye on your bill as i was overcharged on two occasions luckily my wife kept our reciepts so i got my money back but others were not so fortunate as well as this you will not find anything priced up inside or outside the hotel and it is very difficult to find out the price of the drinks until you settle your bill next day and realise you have spent £30.00 in two hours. Whilst relaxing round the pool you cannot under any curcumstances bring your own food or drink to be consumed in the area unless you are German or Turkish the staff watched the English like hawks while the others drank and ate thier own food without any thing being said to them. The beach was lovely but also operated the same policy so we ate at the beach cafe on one occasion, four very small plates of chips and four warm watery cokes was £12. I do not have a highly paid job but took £900 to spend on going out and a couple of excursions but i do feel i was being ripped off at every corner, due to this i felt on gaurd because of the constant hassle, even round the pool a chap asked me if i wanted a massage i declined the offer as my wife is a qualified massuer but that did not stop him from asking me everyday for the rest of the holiday. In the past we have had some lovely holidays in resorts all over Europe especially Greece but i am afraid i will not set foot in Turkey again.
a plesant surprise
We booked our trip as a "last minute" holiday, and were so surprised by the high standards of the Lemas apartments. The staff were friendly and the hotel was spotless. A must for your visit is a trip to the onsite Turkish Bath. We paid next to nothing for nearly two hours of pampering!!!! they were highly professional and it was very authentic. The free bus ride to the beach is a bonus as it gets very hot during peak season, this is a welcome freeby as the walk feels a little too long in the sun - this is something not all hotels offer!!! All in all, these apartments are friendly and affordable - a must for all those who need a relaxing break.
You will love it!
Lemas is an excellent apartment with all your best interests at heart, the staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome! Its based in a quiet area not far from some nice shops and restaurants! If you are going self catering i would suggest that at the end of every day you pay for what you have had as they put it all on a billing system. I reccomend the boat trip which takes you to the market, manavgat waterfalls and then boat trip down the river, as this is an excellent day out and well worth the money. I have alreay booked up to go again so see you soon!!!!!! Tammy
