Just to follow on from Mrs A Brickleys comments, had a fantastic holiday!
This was the first time we stayed at the Bal Apartments, but will not be the last. Everything about the apartments is fantastic, clean, tidy and the pool was perfect (especially in the heat that we experienced!!!).
Thank you Eddie and family and Easo for looking after us so well. Ted will miss you all!!!
See you next year. x

just arrived back from a fantastic 2 week holiday at the bal apartments icmeler, we were a family of 11 of all different ages and this was not a problem for eddie his family and staff, the rooms were cleaned every day and so was the pool area. the short walk to the centre of icmeler was also very nice about 10minutes, and the choice of places to eat really spoilt you but one to try is the set steak house.

bal apartments are lovely and clean ..they are cleaned daily..but if you didnt answer your door straight away then it was opened by the extra set of keys the lady had..which was a bit bad at times.the apartments are self catering ( 1 very big saucepan/frying pan & 2rings ..wasnt realy very good..you do get a fridge..air con is £25 per week , we stayed for two weeks & had problems getting a lounger round the pool the 1st week..only 25 loungers i counted & found the pool to be rather small, when their was familys with children their wasnt much room..eddie is a lovely guy & so is the guy that works evenings...found the other guy who worked in the day time to be quiet grumpy and stand offish at times..other than that we injoyed our stay..we paid quiet a lot for the two week holiday and apartment..would return but would have to be a cheaper deal im afraid..

Recently returned from Bal apartments 2 days ago. Arrived at Bal apartments at approx 2.30am and were greeted by Eddie the apartment owner and Freddie the barman even at that time of night. Apartment complex fantastic with the rooms very clean and are cleaned daily. There is a 15 minute walk to the beach front but hundreds of shops, stalls, bars and restaurants to see on the way aswell as the older, more traditional turkish parts of Icmeler. My girlfriend and I were self catering but food was great and their beer extremely nice (Efes). All food and drink reasonably priced though cheaper in the local supermarket which is only 5 mins walk away but that is the same with any of the accomodation in Icmeler. The pool is of a decent size and contrary to other reviews on this website, the pool is approx 5' 7" throughout with a smaller, circular pool located next to it for the little guys. The surroundings are beautiful with green, mountainous backdrops and the whole apartments are very private and safe. The staff are some of the best people I have ever met anywhere in the world. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they dot on you like royalty. The night barman, Freddie is possibly the nicest and funniest guys you will ever met on your travels and has genuinely become a friend I will still keep in contact with. The other guests at the apartments were amazing and we made many friends here. Some of those we spoke to and become good friends had returned many times and a few couples and families have been coming for nearly 8-9 years. Eddie the owner is a lovely guy and will do everything to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, hence their rating as the top apartment complex in the whole of Icmeler. Freddie runs the bar from 6pm to 6am and you can return at anytime, day or night and have a quiet drink and chat with him. I spent most nights after returning from the resort centre sitting drinking, laughing and joking with Freddie into the early hours of the morning with him. They genuinely love their guests and make you feel like you have known them forever. Icmeler itself is an amazing resort where you can drink, eat and dance into the early hours. In the week we were there, I did not see one fight, arguement, drunken behaviour or trouble. The restaurant owners can annoy you a little at times trying to get you into their restaurants but the vast majority are as friendly and fun as you will find anywhere in the world and I have visited many countries. The food is very well priced and of a extremely good standard and entertainment in most places is brilliant with shows, impersonators and traditional turkish entertainment top standard. The beach is beautiful with amazing views, loads of activities such as paragliding, boat trips, the banana boat and pedlos and the beach is very clean as is the water. The resort of Icmeler is perfect for couples and families of all ages. As I said before, the whole resort makes you feel safe and secure with no trouble whatsoever. I would recommend both the Bal apartments and the resort of Icmeler to anyone and hopefully will return in the very near future. I also recommend the day trip to Dalyan where you spend the day on a large boat visiting the famous turkish mud baths and sulphur pool, see the burial temples of past turkish kings and royalty which is 200,000 years old and visit one of the last protected loggerhead turtle beaches in the world. I for one cannot explain how good this place is. You must go and see for yourselves and I promise you you will not be dissapointed. I really do wish I was still there. ps - If you ever get to meet Freddie you will see what I mean. One of the best people I have EVER met.

Before I begin I must say that the reviews listed below by 'rahrah' and Mrs C Kirton are NOT for these aparments - it would appear they've not added their reviews to the correct hotel which is 'Bal Beach Hotel, Gumusluk' so please ignore their comments in relation to Bal Apartments, Icmeler.
Now i've got that out of the way - Bal Apartments in Icmeler are the most fantastically clean apartments you will ever come across. The staff are wonderfully helpful and will do anything they can to help you.
The pool is spotless and is cleaned daily, the food served in the bar is excellent from sandwiches to omlettes and is all very well priced.
The resort itself has everything you would need, we ate at a different restaurant every night and never had a bad meal, the bars are good fun although the music has to be turned down at 12am every night in accordance with Turkish law.
You will still get hassled into coming into restaurants but the Police are now enforcing a zero tolerance policy on this and if a restaurant is seen hassling you they have the power to shut the place there and then - so a polite 'no' will see the waiters off.
Honestly I haven't a bad word to say about the apartments or the resort - I would thoroughly recommend this holiday to anyone.

Just brilliant!!!! I would definitley recommend the Bal apartments to couples and families. Eddie and his family would do anything to help you and made you feel so at home with a lovely friendly atmosphere. The pool and apartments were cleaned daily to a high standard, with fresh towels and bedding regularly. The bar food was limited but it was very tasty and if you didnt fancy eating there then there was only a short walk to the restaurants.
If you were looking to go on some excursions then i wouldnt go with Thompson as they just rip you off, if you go through either Eddie or the stands then you will receive much better value for money. Just for example we went on a boat trip for the day (20 lira each) and booked it through the Turkish, it was a lovely boat with about 30 other people on, guaranteed sun bed and plenty of room. There was a Thompson boat trip next to us in the harbour (25 lira each) which was crammed with people who were struggling to get seats. We were very pleased with our decision.
As for the bars and restaurants we were spoilt for choice, even by the end of our two weeks we were still finding new roads with lots of places to eat and drink on. My favourite place to eat was a small Turkish place called Karem where all they served was home cooked Turkish food, it was amazing, and was so nice to get away from English food. Would also recommend Waterfall, Champagne, The Three Bells, Love Boat (bit pricey) and Eddies Turkish nite that he holds on a Friday where his mum cooks. Its spectacular.
The beach is not great, its shingle for a start and about 20 mins walk. With the temperatures we had it was impossible to walk down there at midday as its just too hot and so exhausting. Everyone is rammed together like sardines and here is no space to move and the cafes are a rip off, i thought the whole experience was just a waste of time. Stick with the pool much less hassel.
Overall our holiday was amazing. Thank you Eddie, Freddie and family.

Brilliant apartments. Very clean. Very friendly. Eddie, Freddy & Eeso are fantastic. Pool is beautiful, very clean as are all the surrounding areas. Plenty of sunbeds, no need at all to reserve. The food at the poolside bar is of a vey high standard. I recommend the chicken sandwich ( which is a meal in itself) and the special omelette. Thomson rate these apartments as 2 star, but they are worthy of 5. 5 minutes walk to the nightlife & restaraunts, 10-15 minutes walk to the beach. The Turkish meal night is also very enjoyable. Eddies mother cooks the food which is splendid. It is worth paying £25 a week for air con in July/Aug. We can't wait to get back there. Very relaxing.

Do Not go!! Change your hotel now if you can. If you cant take lots of food, drink and toilet roll. Do not take kids as they will drive you mad with their complaints of boredom. Do not take kids that cant swim. (pool too deep and no shallow end) wear shoes at all times as walkways are hazzardous and remember to keep on in shower as tiling is so bad my little one cut his foot. Do not visit outside toilets unless wearing nose plugs and you have a keen interest in insects and other forms of wild life including deposits that people like to leave floating due to flush not working.
Anyone looking to loose weight this is your ideal hotel, chicken and pasta every day for two weeks, no choice or alternative apart from fly salad. If you like a drink remember the duty free as they do not replemish stock (1 bottle of vodka a week or so it seems) beer lovers , well you wont be unless you like flat warm plastic bottled beer. They ran out of food (well, chicken pasta and salad) drink on a daily basis. On two occassions they ran out of everything including water and did not replace till next day despite blistering 100 degree heat)
I took two kids with me aged 6 & 10 our room over looked a septic tank that stank to high heaven night & day. My 6 yr old cut his foot on the tiles in our shower, the wardrobe door fell onto of my mother. My mum stubbed her toe resulting in a fracture on the manhole cover by the pool (which is 6-7ft deep throughout and not the one advertised or shown in photos I hasten to add).
Safety deposit boxes are infact a safe which is shared and you are offered a selection of belongings to chose from. Luckily everyone whilst I was there were very honest). The onsite shop is triple the price of anywhere else including the UK. There is another alacarte resturant on site that is so alacarte is serves chips and piza at £10 a time (child portion) but after 14days of chicken and pasta i would have paid twice that) oh and the chicken isnt breast it is a wing or a thigh yes just one piece per person.
If it wasnt for the wonderfully supportive and friendly fellow british holiday makers my children and I would have the holiday from hell, instead of just styaing at the hell hotel.

Well where do we begin !! all inclusive hahahahaha..... the funniest joke ive ever heard in my life, we arrived on the 27th june for 1 week , arrived at bodrum airport 5 am to find our booked transfer didnt arrive (holidaytaxis ) we found no-one to explain why it wasnt there to greet us there were other people too who were in the same position as us , after about an hour we managed to get a transfer which was to take 2 hrs we were told only to find it took 3 because driver seemed totally confused as to where peoples accomodation actually was he kept doubling back on himself thus making our journey very tiresome especially after a 4hr flight on arriving in the area of gumusluk it looked more like war torn bosnia than an idealic holiday village we were shown o our room ( nothing like the photo) it was basic and smelt of sewers( great start) we went to breakfast which ws a little strange ( salad ) but we ate bread and jam and eggs .. we then went to sleep on getting up and exploring the complex which was on 2 levels and quite dangerous because of uneven paving we went to the pool bar asked for 2 vodka and fantas to be told NO sorry finished we were offered bottled beer that was flat and warm we settled for that for that moment feeling a little confused we decided to go to see the manager that didnt speak english but we managed to make them understand that we were not happy as we had paid for all inclusive and expected to be offered an array of local drinks we were then shown to another bar and given the drinks we asked for , the bar staff were apologetic for the fact that we werent happy about the drinks but we ound out that they had been told to keep drinks backas the day continued we fancied a snack which to our horror were told we had to pay for i.e. pizza burgers chips we decided to go for lunch salad mmmm ..... no meat only tiny bits of chicken in pasta this vein continued all week with salad salad and more salad 12 dishes of salad each day 3 times a day drinks ran out fanta coke too aswell as alcohol we thought ok lets go have a drink of cold water from the dispenser we drank alot of it as it was the only liquid in abundance only to find out that it was turkish tap water but too late for us as delhi belly had started limiting us from doing all we had planned as we ended up in bed on and off all week, the food bacame even more boring but excitement came when the meal for this particular night was CHIPS with kebab meat ... ohhhh joy ! we over endulged not knowing when we would eat meat again... the bar staff were lovely and tried their best to accomodate us .all they could say was turkish problem boss problem some had handed in their notice as they were disheartened by the fact threy couldnt supply us with what they knew we had paid for , it was in the middle of nowhere and to catch dolmus we had to change english money but reception had none so we were stuck at bal beach hotel beautiful views no beach just concrete and stones so large in sea you had to wear shoes my partner then caught an ear infection from the water staff very helpful took us to doctor in gumusluk got anti biotics no entertainment apart from 3 dancing waiters who were lovely no free ice creams no free snacks only water melon or vile cake so dry like spitting sawdust tea coffee restricted to certain hours in dayno hot water only luke warm water 2 out of 7 days bar closed at 23hr and lights then turned off therefore making it hazardous to walk , i fell over at least 7 times and believe me i wasnt drunk fat chance ! the owner was waited on hand and foot by the lovely lads who worked there and they had been told not to fraternise with the guests ( how strange )overall a holiday from hell fortunately or us we managed to endure it gor the week but other guests escaped and moved hotels , i dont know how true this is but a notice was posted in receeption saying that turkish representitives hadnt paid hotel and other hotels had asked guests to leave but this owner didnt want to turn guests away but this information only came on final evening of holiday we were remonded that we were lucky to be there so all in all me and my partner enjoyed OUR time together in turkey but unfortunatly not the time spend at bal beach we will be contacting our tour operator to claim some kind of compensation for this unfortunate week . but dont be put off by the scenery driving to the hotel beacuse when you arrive it was a lovely setting , can safely say though its Minorca for us next ! if you have booked try to cancel or just pray that things have improved if not contact your holiday provider and get moved . but if you like health farm food you will like it in fact we lost weight , 1st time ever on all inclusive as usually you put on half a stone so theres a silver lining hahahah!!!

What a fantastic place. Bal apartments are the cleanest apartments we have ever stayed in. Absolutely fantastic place to stay, ideal for couples looking for somewhere quiet but not far from the centre of Icmeler about 10 minutes walk, and 15 mins to the beach. There are so many different routes you can take. The old village area is lovely and very safe to walk around in evenings, people are so friendly.
We hired cycles for one week at a cost of £20 each which was well worth it. There's a coast promenade road that takes you to Marmaris 8k away which is an easy ride as it is flat all the way. We stopped a few times for a drink and a swim in the sea.
Eddie who is the owner and all the staff are really nice and will do anything to help including getting the morning paper from the local supermarket if required.
I recommend the Thomson Turkish night in Marmaris.
There is a lovely pool to cool off in, though not very big but ok for us as we preferred the beaches. Restaurants are of a very good standard and food was outstanding. I can recommend the WAYSIDE & THE GOLDEN MOON which served excellent food.
Icmeler is one of the best resorts we have stayed in. My wife and I will certainly go back to this resort and to the BAL APARTMENTS. Try it you will not be disappointed.

What a lovely friendly clean family business, Eddie and his family and colleagues were so kind, helpful and happy all the time, my kids had a wonderful time and loved the pool. My mother and I found it very safe and relaxing. All facilities in apartments were as new, the bar was great, also the wonderful birthday cake Eddie surprised me with.
The town was a really nice place to walk around and the beach only 10-15 minutes walk the views were exquisite, any trips like the "Evergreen truck safari" is well worth doing also the trip to "Dalyan" I would highly recommend, we will love to come back and visit again. Thank you so much Eddie.

My family stayed there last year and recommended it to me, I was not disappointed!
Eddie and his family are lovely, make you feel very welcome. The apartments themselves are immaculate, get cleaned everyday. The pool and pool area also are spotless.
Its only 10-15 mins to the center of Icmeler and we really enjoyed the walk every night on our way out for our evening meal, like another person said, we took a different route every day and saw some lovely places as we walked around. I would certainly recommend these apartments to everyone.
We might even see you there!
