Lovely clean modern studio with a side sea view to the right, to the left was a small road with building in progress most days but not really a problem. Mini-markets very close in either direction selling all the basics - fresh bread, fruit, veg and all the usual food stuff for a self-catering holiday, including cigs.
My biggest complaint has got to be the 3rd bed in the studio which was a very basic camp bed only suitable for a child with a very, very thin mattress. We clearly booked a room for us 3 adults and were very disappointed to be given a room set out for 2 adults and a 'small person' which we complained about straight away but manager Karen said all rooms for 3 were the same, which other guests later confirmed!
The pool area, bar etc were just as described, pretty, clean and modern with lovely comfy furnishings but the beach is a lot smaller than it looks on pictures and a bit shaley and stony.
One of the highlights for us was the gorgeous food at Olga's Place which is the taverna across the road, the whole family made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
I would recommend this holiday if you want a really quiet relaxing time with nothing to do but eat, drink, swim, sunbathe and a stroll to the nearby harbour.
I would definitely go back but not to that awful camp bed!!!

WOW!!! The most relaxing time I have had in 20 years. Nothing was too much trouble for Sue and her staff. If my family needed something all we had to do was ask and it was provided. The location is great with the most fantastic sunsets I have ever seen. My 5 year old son had a wonderful time with the small number of children that were there playing on the fine sandy beach and the shallow depth of the sea which was very warm made it perfect for him to swim in.
With the close proximity of the beach to the hotel he could play all day and still remain in our sight. The set up of the decking and beach area make it a very safe environment for families with small children. The beachfront did occasionally get busy but don’t forget Thassos version of busy is a world apart from Spain’s or southern Greece’s standards
The room we stayed in was kept very clean with towels changed regularly and bins emptied often. All facilities were more than adequate and the balcony was great to watch the sun set. As for the music, there was a good selection of all tastes, which was turned down every night as it got later and never went past midnight.
Great little beach bar serving light snacks, ice-cold beers and generous measures of spirits. But if it’s a larger meal you’re after the small number of tavernas in the area offers a wide selection of dishes and all have a great seafood menu. Every one is excellent but we thought Gekas just nudged ahead mainly because of the amazing hospitality. If you want to venture a little further the owner of the hotel has a sister hotel with a great beach and a fantastic restaurant a couple of miles up the cost, the night we went they had massive king prawns to die for on the menu.
If it’s self-catering you want there is a small shop and a bakery with enough to get by but really it is worth the mile or so trip down the road to a larger shop. Although called a super market it is more like a medium sized coop you might find in a small town / large village. Never the less it had everything you would need for a two-week self-catering holiday.
These apartments have been awarded a Thomson Gold Award, which is thoroughly deserved in fact, in our opinion Sue, and her team should all receive gold awards of their own. To sum up our time at the Mediterranean Apartments we enjoyed this relaxing quiet location so much we booked to return in 06 just days after arriving home. Sue and the team - looking forward to seeing you all in July.

The accommodation was very good and Sue the Manager was an excellent host. the position was glorious but what spoilt it for us was the noise. The music was very loud and went on until the early hours of the morning.
Instead of being a tranquil holiday in a beautiful setting the music became a focal point and actually spoilt our holiday. Young people seemed to drive in from the surrounding area and it seemed to be a meeting point. Despite asking for the music to be turned down which it was for a couple of night it was renewed with vigour a couple of nights later.
Excellent surrounding restaurants and a good bus service. To sum it up - lovely apartments, excellent position, nice hosts but really only suitable for the young who like continuously loud music in the evening (and not even Greek music!!)
Would love to go back but the music is definitely off putting.

Clean new apartments, with a great pool right on the beach. You will need a car as there is only a very small shop that does not sell much and a few restaurants, don’t hire a car from Sue its much cheaper to book it yourself.
We had booked a one bedroom apartment because there were four of us but when we arrived they only had two apartments and not three like advertised so we were put in a studio which was a nightmare. There were open windows at ground level with a six foot drop into the gym etc. which my young son tried to crawl through and I was worried about the children by the child’s pool because it is right next to a set of marble steps going down to the gym.
There are no bars in the area so many drank at the pool bar, the first week was great because they were quiet but the second week there was music and noise till 3 or 4 in the morning and with the hard beds we did not get much sleep. Great for a cheap holiday but would not recommend to anyone with small children.

just returned from a two week stay at medittaranean appts. in skala rachoniou, thassos.
we would like to say that being seasoned greek island travellers for the last 10 years this resort could be anywhere. the locals are very unfriendly towards the english. there not rude but they make you feel you`re a nuisance when ordering meals out and about etc.
as we say we have travelled to many islands and have always found the locals the most friendliest people you could wish to meet, and they are always willing to listen to you when like us you speak a little bit of greek.
but im sorry to say thats not the case in thassos. the appts. were spotlessly clean and are in a lovely location but in the thomson brochure they state that it is set in a traditional greek village but that is not the case now. as it is such a tiny resort and there is 4 hotels with pools right next to eachother it feels very commercialised and they are building more as i write this, so the area will become even more touristy and all traditionality will be lost.
so if you want a beach and sunbed holiday thassos is the place for you. but if you want to experience greek ways and there wonderful hospitality then dont go to thassos.
