The Anastasia Studios are in good quiet location convenient for both the beach and the great array of authentic Greek Tavernas, some of which are better than others but apart from Federas all the rest were good with Soti on the beach at the far end being the best in our opinion.
The rooms are clean and comfortable but without any additional trimmings. The self catering equipment supplied was more than adequate and the owners were very helpful. The resort itself high spot is undoubtedly the magnificent sandy beach which shelves slowly in a tranquil deep blue sea. The bay is surrounded by mountains and the scenery is superb.
The evenings tend to be spent over a prolonged meal eating some wonderful food. I would think that fast food lovers and vegetarians may suffer slightly here as meat is the main dish although a good choice of fish was available but some of it was pricey. There are a handful of bars but these tend to be low key without loud music blasting out and by midnight their trade has slowed to a trickle.
As other reviewers have identified the large number of wasps apparent at this resort are a real pest. I would not call the resort child friendly but it is perfect for couples who enjoy a peaceful and lazy holiday. If you enjoy shopping then you will need to visit Thassos Town (a bus service runs 6 times a day) and there are very few shops in Golden Beach except mini markets. It also worth visiting the mountain village of Pagnia which is close by.

The studios were is a pleasant location near to the beach and the nearest taverna only a short stroll away.
The rooms were fairly basic but adequate and the bathroom had a few minor plumbing problems, the water took a long time to drain.
The equipment was adequate and the Anastasia studios were in a quiet position.
Golden beach is a superb place to relax and laze around. We were bugged especially whilst eating in the evenings but a plague of wasps and we got stung a couple of times.
Apparently the wasps have been a problem for a few years at this resort and this was the only slight blip on what was otherwise an excellent holiday.

We have just returned from the Anastasia with the wonderful backdrop of mount Ipsarion and Golden Beach on your doorstep. The family, Dimitris in the bar, George on the beach looking after the beds and of course Anastasia, are very welcoming. The studios are clean and linen and towels are changed twice a week. The shower does not have a curtain so no matter how careful you are i'm afraid the bathroom resembles a wet room at the end of it. We had a room at the front of the property which did not have anywhere to hang towels so had to use the rail. The new studios at the bottom had a free standing clothes line. The chairs on the balcony were a welcome change as they were canvas not like the normal plastic ones. The stairs to the property are in the middle and on each landing there was a seating area with some books to read and had an iron and ironing board if needed. The beds and parasols were 5 euros a set, so very reasonable. The welcome meeting was at the Marina Bar which is situated on the road opposite the camp site along the road running parallel to the beach they run the Fun Train which takes you to Skala Potamias in the evening right at the end of the bay or they do have a trip taking you to the villages of Potamia and Panagia with Maria as guide explaining some of the history of the area. A museum, waterfalls, church and olive press to explore at 11 euros it takes 4 hours and is well worth it with views over golden beach for the photographers amongst you. The restaurants were all good we didn't have one bad meal, but Viglis on the headland had stunning views although you have to climb some steps or take the steep path to get there, but well worth a visit. The bus into Thassos Town is 1.80 euros one way and you need to get your return tickets from the Supermarket called the Meat Market first, you also get the bus just outside there although it didn't have the little blue sign which usually indicates a bus stop. The Supermarket is a little further on past the camp site set back on the left handside. When coming back you get dropped off on the main road into resort just past our road or if you miss that at the Marina Apartments. There doesn't seem to be many places to exchange travellers cheques here but the supermarket that is on the main road opposite Avis does with the normal 2% charge on 100 euros. Don't go to the Marina's exchange as the owner(not Marina, she is British)charges 2.1/2% and then takes another cut for himself of another 2% making 9 euros on 2 100 euro cheques, or you could wait to go into Thassos town. Getting back to Anastasia, this property is in the best area of the beach which is not quite in the middle being quieter than both ends Skala Potomias being pebbly and narrow. Overall the island is beautiful and Golden Beach being one of the best, having travelled round by car(some good bargains to be had if you do hire one) independantly as Hertz and Avis are on the doorstep. Enjoy.
