Rosa Studios are set in a quite location in Alykanas, but within a very short walk to local bars, taverns and shops. The beach is a good 10 - 15 min walk away which depending of which part you go to it can either lovely or you get the impression part of it has been abandoned. We did go late Sept early Oct so this may not be the case in high season. All in all Alykanas is set within beautiful surroudings.
If you are not an experienced traveller I would recommend you use the tour operators bus service from airport. Upon arriving at the apartments (we travelled by taxi) there was no one around and we eventually had to stop a Thomas Cook bus and ask for the reps help as there is no contact whatsoever on site. The apartments next door are nothing whatsoever to do with these apartments (which is debatable) and the facilities there close early at night.
All in all we had a relaxing holiday and could not fault the apartments or the area but please be aware of the over 60s in their speedos (not a pretty sight).

have been going to skiathos for 12 years sometimes twice a year, and stayed in many apartments in various resorts on the island. Thomsons description of the accomodation was glowing so although we had never stayed in troulos before we though we would give it a go. To be fair the rooms are ok but we do not expect perfection in Greece and indeed like some of the quirkyness. But there are some aspects that I felt thompsons were a little less than honest about and there was one thing that with a modest investment could be rectified. Their brochure photo shows the apartments from a prospective that leads you to believe they are a reasonable distance from the pool and bar/restaurant, they are not. The first room we had was no more than 20foot from the pool and 30ft from the bar. consequentley you could not sit outside without being on show and at night the bar went on sometimes till 3 am. There are 3 or 4 rooms that are in this position. We rung thompson uk and the rep got us moved the second week to an upper room which we had asked for when we booked and this was away from the pool and very good. I think thompsons 24/7 help line is very good at least problems are recorded which I am sure the reps never do, also perhaps I am being unfair but If we had not contacted thompson direct I think our chances of being moved would have been zero. I would add it is the first time I have ever complained.
Lastley the showers are a complete disaster with a trickle of water, you had to wash hair under the tap to get the soap out. The reason is the tanks are set on the ground instead of on the roof. This arrangement is fine but needs a pump as you have no head of water. So thompson please vet your accomodation properly, it would not take much to put it right and after a day on the beach a reasonable shower is esential. I hate writing a review like this and on the plus side the food was good as was our second room.

Two couples (56/55- 58/54), my wife and I and 2 friends stayed at Villa Rosa in Troulos in May 08 had a great time, the rooms were very nice and clean.
The food was very good in the taverna greek & mediterranean cuisine cooked by Markos, all the staff/family are super from the little boy to the grandad.
There are also some very good restaurants close by, Syrtaki on the main road is good went there 3 times, Troulos Beach Hotel is very good and you can higher the sunbeds from there and also change your serling for euros, thats where we got the best return.
There is also a very nice restaurant on the main road across from the garage but up a lot of steps but well worth it for the food, go to the beach and try Tpoyaoe taverna best
breakfast on the island.
I can understand why people fall in love with Skiathos it is so peacefull and everybody always as a smile for you. enjoy.

Just returned from a wonderful holiday at Rosa Studios.
The accommodation was exactly what we wanted and in a great location (lovely and quiet yet only 3 mins walk from the tavernas/bars/restaurants). The room was quite basic but what more do you want than a bathroom, bed, balcony and fridge?
The pool is literally 10 seconds walk from the apartments and there are plenty of sun loungers etc.
The beach is 10 - 15 minutes walk.
We hired a quad bike for 38E for the day and got to explore the island as well as visit St Nicolas Beach. There are some beautiful sites to see inland especially some of the villages which have been unspoiled by tourism.
Alykanas itself has some great restaurants. Some places will try and hassle you to go in but personally we preferred the restaurants away from the crossroads and found them of a much better standard. A meal for 2 with 1/2 carafe of wine and 2 beers usually came to approx 20-25E.
All in all we had a great holiday and couldn’t fault the Rosa (oh go on then, air conditioning would have been a bonus).

Very nice apartments cleaned to high standard only one cooking ring not two has stated no air con just a fan at 10euros for week which was pretty useless, due to temps being in excess of 40 degrees!
Lovely pool next door for use at Litsa apartments
Overall a fantastic resort nice beach every thing you could ask for.
Would return if air con was installed!

Appear to be fairly new apartments. Good sized rooms with all basic facilities.
Situated next to the Litsos apartments with use of their pool and snack bar. No reception yet but it seems that one is being prepared.
Rooms are cleaned three times weekly and linen changed weekly. Quiet location but only 2-3 minutes’ walk to nearest bars / tavernas and a well stocked supermarket.
Centre of Alykanas is only 5-10 minutes stroll.
Overall a well maintained and pleasant place to spend a couple of weeks.

Myself & my Girlfriend have just returned from a lovely holiday in Skiathos. We stayed at the Villa Rosa and really enjoyed it. The rooms were cleaned every day & the pool was very clean. The Self Catering Equipment is very basic, but we don't go on Holiday to do any cooking! The food in the Villa Rosa is absolutely beautiful. We tried the food in Skiathos Town a couple of times but couldn't find any nicer than the Villa Rosa. Marcos and his Family are really friendly.
The Bar wasn't very lively at night but we were on the second to last week of the season. About 10 metres away is Cristakis Bar (has a big Sky Sports sign outside) that obviously has Football etc on a big screen. Chris and his Family were also very friendly and there is a Pool Table, Table Football and Internet Access. The bus runs approx every 30 mins into Skiathos Town and costs 1.80 euros. It can get packed at some times but a good service.
The Old Port in Skiathos Town is very nice but Cocktails can be a bit expensive. There are loads of other Bars in the town and on Bar Street there are a couple of ex pat's that have bought bars. We would definitely go again for a nice relaxing holiday and would definitely stay in the Villa Rosa.

We have stayed at Villa Rosa for 8 years running and it just keeps getting better. We have watched the family grow and are now treated as if family.
There is always a warm welcome and the studios are clean and well equipped. The taverna and bar have a lovely atmosphere with Marcos (barman and waiter) always ready to crack a joke and eager to learn more English.
We have met lovely friends who we now see on a regular basis.
The buses run all day and well into the night and are very frequent if a little crowded at times. They go from one end of the island to the other. There is a different beach at almost every stop.
All in all I can thoroughly recommend the Villa Rosa and Troulos as an ideal holiday for those who want a more rural location with easy access to Skiathos town and lovely beaches.

I arrived at Rosa studios and as soon as I stepped out of the taxi the owner was brushing the steps of the hotel and just told me which room I was in, didn't ask for I.D., or tickets or even my name.
My room was VERY VERY basic. An example of how basic it was, the shower didn't have a clip on, so the shower head had to be held up by myself when I wanted to shower. There was no water guard so the water would just splash off from the shower floor and end up on the bathroom floor leaving it dangerous and slippy!
There was no TV, which i pretty much expected to be honest but the one thing that completly destroyed my holiday was there was no air con. It was 40+ degrees, and no air con made the bedroom hotter than outside, seriously! It came to the point where I had to ask if I could have an extra fan in which i got after a 2 hour wait. The next day the cleaner quite rudely approached me and demanded 21 euros for the use of 2 fans for 1 week! Absolutly couldnt believe it.
I left feeling ill and fed up! Iv stayed in hostels in London coming in as £8 per night and they were luxury compared.
Awful holiday, awful hotel and awful owners.
Ants on the kitchen counter too!
I would seriously not recommend this place what so ever!
