Hotel Costas Mary

Our party of 6 have just returned from Skiathos. This was my 5th visit to the island but my friends first. We were all very impressed with the hotel, the family atmosphere, cleanliness, the immaculate gardens and pool area and bar. Other accommodation Ive visited in Skiathos town was poor compaired to Mary and Costas. The hotel is well situated, 3mins walk onto the harbour, we experienced no noise from aircraft etc. We all look forward to revisiting as Mary, Costa and sons are simply the best. Just returned from a week at this small, family run hotel in Skiathos Town and would definitely return. The hotel is immaculate - rooms cleaned daily, linen changed regularly and the pool/bar area very clean. It is a 5-10 min walk to the harbour/centre of town and within easy reach of shops etc. Most of the holidaymakers were English and had returned year after year. Would suit couples or families.

Firstly the hotel is exactly as other reviews have stated, very clean with well kept gardens and within walking distance to the town. Although near the airport, aircraft noise was not a problem. Unfortunately our room (205) on the first floor was directly above the breakfast room and had a view of the bar and pool area. This meant that if you wanted to sleep with your balcony doors open at night so as to keep your room cool, you were kept awake by the noise from the bar, and because the room is directly above the breakfast room you are woken each day at about 7.15 by the staff. We asked Mary (the owner) on our 3rd day ,to change rooms and she gave us one at the back of the hotel which was quieter. Unfortunately, our overall experience at this hotel was spoilt by the waitress, Claudia, who was very rude and we were subjected to personal insults each time we came down for breakfast, so after the third day we had breakfast away from the hotel. Claudia also took great delight in insulting some of the other guests and the feeling and touching up of guests both male and female saying things like "I have firm breasts not like your soft ones". On our last day Mary apologised at some length because she knew we were unhappy. However she believes that her repeat guests enjoy watching this 'entertainment' and does not want to upset them. The Costas and Mary Hotel seem to think that Claudia is an asset to them and that their repeat guests go because of her. Well, what about the first time guests? I, for one, will not be going back. Skiathos is a lovely island with plenty of choices when it comes to bars, restaurants, beaches and of course hotels.

Our holiday started as soon as we stepped off the plane. The Hotel is a four minute taxi ride away, and No aircraft noise is not a problem in fact I never heard one at all during our two week stay! The Hotel is fabulous, exceptionally clean,rooms are cleaned every day and new towels ever other day.The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Claudia (who looks after you at breakfast) is a scream and brightens everyones day ! Mary and Costas are so freindly and look after you as if you are family and are always available, their Sons look after the bar and reception area and are very friendly too. The Hotel is set in gardens which are very well tended and the pool area and pool are spotless. A few minutes walk will find you at the harbour front and into the town,where there are resturants and bars in abundance each one as good as the other serving very cold beer and freshly cooked food, in the two weeks we ate at a different resturant each night and all were brilliant! Walk through the town centre and you find yourself at the beach ( a 15 min amble from the Hotel). There are many beautiful beaches to visit and it is well worth hiring a Jeep and going off into the mountains for the wonderful views and to stop off at one of the beaches, some of our favourites being Agistros, Kikira, Kastro and Canapitsa. The local bus will take you to some of the beaches as will the water taxi's both readily available. The Island of Skiathos and its people are very 'addictive' and like us, you will want to return . When you find a Hotel as good as this one you return again and again , each guest that stayed in the weeks we were there had all stayed previously , our first visit was in 2006, and we will return in 2008 to' Our Little Gem in the Agean'

Skiathos is a fabulous place and Costas and Mary hotel is too! The hotel is situated in a quiet spot about a 5 minute walk to the yachting marina. The hotel is very clean and has many repeat guests who have been coming to the hotel for the last 8 years! Costas and Mary are very friendly and take pride in the hotel and gardens. We used to spend a day at the pool and then a day at a beach of which there are many to choose from. They are all easy to get to either by water taxi or bus. The bus terminus is at the bottom of the road from the hotel so there was never a problem getting a seat.The drinks at the pool bar were very reasonable 2.5 euros for a bottle of mythos beer ,2 euros for a glass of wine and 4.5 euros for a spirit and mixer. The lunches at the pool bar were very good especially the tuna salad and the eggs and bacon. The fruits with yoghurt and honey were to die for! The beaches are lovely especially at Kanapitsa and Tsougria. We also took a boat trip to Skopolos and Alonisos which was a lovely day out. The restaurants are very good .We went to a different one every night and still couldn't fit them all in in 2 weeks! Our favourites were Plakes(the view is fantastic). Marias Pizza, Dionysoss, Polycratis,and the spit roast off the main street, behind the steps up to the Roof-Top Bar. Jimmy's cocktail bar and the end of the harbour is very good and also the rooftop bar . All in all this is the best greek isle we have been to and we would definitely return to the Costas and Mary Hotel.

As all the other reviews say, this is a small family run hotel which is about 3 minutes walk from the centre of town (depending on the route you take) Costas and Mary are very warm and friendly, and the staff at breakfast are entertaining to say the least! We would definately return to this hotel, and would recommend it to couples that are after a relaxing, quiet time, We found the best place to eat for evening meal was the En Plo on the waterfront, the pasta is to die for, and the prices are reasonable.

excellent location, 5 mins walk from everything. small personable family run hotel, costas and mary are very welcoming people who never stop working, the standards in this hotel are very high. pool only small but sufficient for the amount of guests. very relaxing atmosphere. rooms are not the biggest but are very comfortable and very clean, rooms cleaned daily. bar prices at hotel are good compared to in the town itself. we will definately return to this hotel!

We've been twice. The first time in 2001 and we found it such a nice small and friendly hotel, we returned in 2003 to get married on the island and put our families into the hotel. It felt like home! Recommended for a quiet peaceful relaxing holiday where you can sit by the small pool and read a book without being troubled by kids or party goers. You will be pleased with hosts Costas and Mary who whilst they make you feel welcome as a guest of the hotel, you are left alone to relax in the peace and quiet of the hotel gardens.

The hotel is in a quiet area of Skiathos Town, a three minute walk from the Harbour with its Supermarkets, shops and restaurants. The hotel and garden are immaculately clean. Costas, Mary and their sons were lovely hosts. The bedding and towels are changed every two days and the room was always kept clean. Breakfast was always available to a competent standard from 8am to 10am with singing from Clotilda. The breakfast was limited in selection, but is always competently made. The breakfast was always cereal, bread (no toast), eggs, tomatoes, beans, small sausages, cakey-bread, jam and eggy-bacon. Unfortunately, after two weeks it gets a little boring. The food during the day is very nice and fairly priced. Though the rating in the brochure is 2 stars and is set at this level by Mary to reduce overheads from the tour operators, make no mistakes, the hotel is excellent at its rating and I have known worse 4 star hotels. The only things I would change are the following: 1. Fridge in room. 2. Air conditioning as standard (there is a hotel charge for its use) 3. A safe as standard (there is a hotel charge for its use). 4. Vary the breakfast. 5. A larger pool. Having been to Skiathos many times before, I booked Costas and Mary thinking I knew where it was. Luckly for us it wasn't the one I was thinking of. The hotel was in a very quite area a short walk from the Harbour itself, and not far from Supermarkets and other shops. The hotel was immaculately clean and the hosts Costas and Mary and their sons were delightful. The Beds were very comfortable and changed nearly everyday. If there was a down side to the hotel it was the length of breakfast 8am to 10am unfortunately we are not early risers and missed breakfast most mornings, and there was no breakfast if you were not down well before 10am. In the brochure it was 2 star but this was certainly above average and with a few minor alterations ie fridge in room etc etc could quite easily pass for a 4 star. It had air conditioning and a safe which you had to purchase extra, you of course had the choice to purchase it or not, which obviously kept the cost of the hotel down. Having booked Costas and Mary by mistake, we certainly will return, soon I hope.
