I feel compelled to write a review after realising that the majority of reviews are written by disgruntled holiday makers rather than happy ones... (maybe us Brits like to complain?) I stayed in this hotel last October and it was beautiful. As soon as you walk in you... more

Absolutely lovely hotel!
Just returned from staying at the Strofades Beach Hotel and my boyfriend and I had a lovely time. This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed at in Greece as accomodation is usually fairly basic but the rooms here were clean with plenty of wardrobe space,a fridge, air conditioning,a lovely balcony and great bathroom (with a shower that actually worked). The hotel is right on the beach and a short walk away from the centre of Tsilivi.Instead of walking along the road to Tsilivi we tended to walk along the beach which was lovely between 8 and 9pm when the sun was setting. If you walk to the end of the beach and turn left at Corelli restaurant and continue walking you will find what I believe to be the best restaurant in Tsilivi,Menir Taverna. The food here is amazing plus being great value for money, 25 euro for 3 courses and a litre of wine for 2 people. The staff are lovely and the owner usually provides entertainment by singing or with his band.We loved it so much we went 3 nights out of the 7 we were there. We did the island hopper trip to Kefalonia whilst staying in Tsilivi and although it was great to see Kefalonia which is a truly beautiful island it was a very long day,7am - 8pm and a lot of it was spent on the coach rather than exploring the island.I would recommend a trip to Zakynthos town which you can get the bus to for 1 euro 30 cents which is much cheaper than the trip the travel agents run and the bus only takes 10 mins. Overall I had a lovely holiday and would definitely return to both Tsilivi and Strofades Beach Hotel!
Great value little hotel
We booked with Thomson and got a taxi transfer for £35 - it was well worth it. The hotel was bright and clean and we were dealt with very efficiently on our arrival. The room was quite spacious for greece and we had plenty of room to hang our clothes. The beds were a bit hard and quite small, but considering the price for a beachfront hotel this was a small matter. I certainly never lost any sleep. The hotel breakfast was a buffet and was a bit of a crush if you got there between 8 and 9. However, outside tables with a pretty seaview were a pleasure to sit at. My only complaint was that for all the bacon, eggs, beans and toast, they did not have any olive oil and vinegar to go with the feta and tomatoes. There is a little coffee shop and they do nice meals there. The bruschetta is to die for. Watch out though, the vinegar tasted like turps. I bought my own. The hotel has a bit of garden between it and the beach, about 35m. The sea is very good for swimming and there are sunbeds and parasols for rent, about 7 euros for 2 beds and a parasol. Tsilivi is about 500m away if you take the short cut (turn right out of the hotel and go over the little bridge). It is twice as far if you go the long way round. It costs about 7 euros each way if you get a cab. The river behind the hotel is full of frogs and birds and the noise at dawn and dusk is truly amazing. I thought it was wonderful. There are plenty of 'eateries' in Tsilivi. We ate at the Olive Garden, which was ok but the foos was lukewarm and the vegetables were tinned. We then ate at Sweet Revenge. We liked it so much we ate there 3 times. Unfortunately on the third time they cooked me the wrong meal and brought me chicken a la creme pasta instead of mushroom. Being a veggie I sent it back. they apologised and said they would amke fresh but it would be a little while. I was ok and 15 minutes later they brought me out my meal. I started finding bits of chicken in it and when I called them over they admitted they had only taken the chicken out of the previous plate and hoped I wouldn't notice. I knew that it couldn't have taken 15 minutes to take out the chicken, so it was really quite naughty. We didn't eat there after that and I wouldn't recommend it for veggies, but we did enjoy the food we had. We also went to a fab mexican. Zante was a litlle bit commercial for me, but it is a nice little island and the Strofades beach is a lovely quietly situated little hotel. If I were to return to Zante I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Fantastic hotel, right on the beach.
Wonderful hotel, very clean and friendly. Rooms basic - bed a bit hard - but all you needed + sea view from balcony. Room cleaned and towels refreshed daily. Nice buffet breakfast which we ate on the terrace overlooking the pool and the sea. We went first week of season which was great as very peaceful and not too busy. Few metres to the lovely beach - and beach bar! A nice stroll down the beach to Tsilivi for shops and restaurants. Lovely people, great food, fantastic weather - would definately go back here.
Other reviews spot on.
In the quieter part of town with only a short walk to the beach (2 mins) Rooms are freshly cleaned everyday, and air condition free when required. Breakfast has a wide variety for everyone and service is friendly. Relaxed atmosphere by the pool with some kids being playful but not over the top. The beach is pebbly in some places but loads of sand and lovely water. Boat trips are great, the allday one which goes all round the island can be a long day for some people, but for strong swimmers it is worth it as there is three of four 10 min swim stops. My recommendation is to do a half day trip to the shipwreck. The ship is nothing to look at,but the approach to the bay is amazing, the setting out of this world and the blue sea water so refreshing. The water is rough but you cant get into trouble as so many people there.
value for money
great value for money, on the beach rooms cleaned 5 out of 7days. very helpful staff, good breakfast, what more do you want.
loved it
We stayed here in aug 05 i wanted to stay here again in 06 but my family wanted to try a different island......fools we went to kefalos in kos and it was rubbish. This hotel is one of the loveist I have stayed in the air con is free the rooms cleaned every day the linen at least twice a week. its on the beach front but you really dont need to go anywhere else, nice bar and in evenings closes at about 12ish, the greek night was good fun too. The breakfast was fine eggs and bacon beans toast yoghut fresh fruit and juice. The staff really friendly and nothing too much trouble. Wonderful place to stay as a family or just as a couple or with friends, i shall return in 07.
Great place
We stayed at this hotel in September 06. Very clean and tiday. Reception area immaculate. Reception staff very friendly, nothing is too much hassle. Rooms are spacious, clean. On our penultimate day we had an awful sewage smell coming from the bathroom, due to heavy rain overnight. Reported it, got cleaned straightaway. Very close to the beach, only 10 mins walk to bars and restaurants. Had a great time, would recommend this hotel.
Brilliant
We went to the Strofades Beach for a week last year in September. We absolutely loved our stay. The buffet breakfast had a wide choice, and the staff were extremely helpful. Our room was clean and tidy. We would definately recommend going here, it's so close to the beach and handy for daytrips- such as Smugglers Cove, where we went on a daytrip. A lot of the other hotels we passed in the area were by busy roads, but the Strofades is tucked away- its beautiful. We would definately stay here again.
Great Hotel
Recently stayed for 7 nights at this hotel on bed and breakfast basis. It was booked via the Thompson group on a package deal. We found the hotel clean throughout with maid service every day. Reception staff were very helpfull. Bedrooms were of a good size with A/Con available at all times. Breakfast was adequate and served till 10am. The pool bar serves a limited but tasty menu all day long. The hotel is located 25 yards from the gently shelving sandy beach that has a full range of watersports available. There are numerous sun beds to rent on the beach(2 euro per bed) The hotel is located a 10 minute flat walk from the resort centre were the night life consists mainly of Tavernas and bars with piped music playing. There are a couple of 'louder' bars that double up as clubs, but is low key compared with other resorts on the island. I suggest you would give this resort a miss if it is all night parties you needed. However for a beached based family holiday in a friendly and safe resort Tsivili wil take some beating. Would we go back ? Yes to both the resort and this hotel it is above average for the class However Zante airport departure check in & terminal is 'challanging' - take water and snacks in your hand luggage you may need them!
Location is excellent
This relatively new hotel is set in open countryside at the SE end of Tsilivi beach, apart from the action but within easy walking distance of it. It has 90 rooms on 3 floors in two wings, but avoid ground floor rooms which lack any view and have little privacy. The hotel has a nice pool area, always enough sun loungers, a pool side bar which sells food until late afternoon, and charming friendly staff. For evening meals its necessary to walk into Tsilivi village - 10/15 minute gentle stroll on flat ground - where there is a wide selection of small restaurants. Many serve local Greek food which is excellent and terrific value - expect to pay no more than €20-25 for two including a litre of the very drinkable local house wines. Two places we liked were Benikos and Trente Novo but in fact all the ones we tried were good. The hotel is set back 50 metres from the beach. There is a lovely little family run taverna (Taverna Paradiso) to the right at the end of the beach which serves delicious fresh Greek lunches and dinners on a terrace at the sea edge; and they also have sun beds on a grassed area for day rent (€6 for two with umbrella) if you prefer to leave the hotel pool area. This hotel is ideal for couples who enjoy a little style, friendly service and a quieter setting.
