Just back from Amsterdam, where my self and my wife stayed in the Victoria Hotel for 5 nights. Excellent location, just across the street from the Central Station(Rail) where it takes about 20 minutes from the airport. 10 minute walk from the Dam Square and about 8 from the Red Light District. Though the hotel is on a major junction it is extremley quiet. The staff was very helpful and polite. The contental breakfast was just that, but you got what you pay for.Just the one concern...........in relation to their internet. They charge €10 for 30 minutes of what they call broadband, there is a coffee house just around the corner where you can get a much faster connection for 50c for the same time. Now thats some mark up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Never the less its an excellent, clean, friendly hotel.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a central location in Amsterdam.
The hotel is 2 minutes walk from Central station and the red light district. There are good facilities at the hotel and the concierge staff are very friendly.
Our room was good quality and quite large but, at approx £130 per night, overpriced for what you get! We had the usual room facilities you would expect (tea/coffee, air con, pricey mini bar, rubbish hairdryer, TV- pay and free channels) and a nice view of the canal.
There are other much cheaper hotels but the appeal of the Victoria is its location and relatively large rooms. It was lovely to be so close to the canal, the train and the coffee shops & bars without being in the midst of the hustle and bustle.
I would stay here again if I could find a way to get a cheaper deal.

Touch down, we arrived in Shipchol Airport around 15 Kilometres from Amsterdam, the first thing we noticed was the rush of people flowing past us.
Arrived at the Victoria Hotel on Damrak in Amsterdam city centre, it looked pleasant, check in staff were matter of factly(maybe because they felt that I was only a young adolescence at 21, and they didn’t have to provide me with the same customer service they provide the other Hotel guests- I don’t know). they also made me pay 200 euro deposit incase I would run away with the bed or something. Anyway got up to my room and it wasn’t what I expected as the picture that was shown on the website may have well been in a different hotel let alone a different room! however after getting over my initial shock I had quite a relaxed time. firstly we went on a canal cruise bus (32euros for 2 people ticket valid for 24hrs)you could jump on and jump off at different places of interest such as the Anne Frank house The Heineken experience, Rambrandtplein museum and much more. The remaining time of our holiday we walked the perimeter of Amsterdam which is nearly a holiday within itself.
we toured the red light district and where quite surprised to see the great amount of tourists that were doing just the same. the cafes were nice to and nice to sit and watch the world going by.
I would definitely go back to Amsterdam again as I fell in love with the city the only thing I would change would be the accommodation

Excellent, clean hotel right outside central station. Thought that the hotel would be noisy and busy due to its central location, but it was very peaceful and quiet.
The staff were all very friendly and approachable. We paid £60 for a double room for one night - not bad at all in Amsterdam! We would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Amsterdam.

Having stayed in Amsterdam a few times now and many other cities across Europe, the Victoria is up there with the better rated ones. The hotel itself is clean, quite modern in the reception area (although the room we stayed in was due for decorating) and it is quite well located on the corner of Damrak and just across the road from the station.
We booked online and I feel that we were given one of the ‘budget’ rooms, even though the price we paid wasn’t that cheap. However, all in all we had no complaints at all with the hotel or our room. Our bathroom especially was lovely and the bed was comfortable etc.
The staff are helpful, but sometimes seem to have the typical attitude of people working in a 4/5* hotel - not really that friendly.
I would give the hotel 8 out of 10 and I would be happy to stay at the Victoria again if I could get a reasonable price online.

Thank you Island Star for great holiday, we were spoiled no complaints except the weather was not good, but I must thank the captain and crew especially the doctor and nurses, one of our party took ill before we left Palma and had to be taken to hospital in Ajaccio the care he got on board and also the communication from the Palma office to his wife how was with him in Corsica was superb, Again I cannot thank the crew of the Island Star and the Palma office enough. I hope I can sail with you again, you are all stats. Island Cruises you have a outstanding crew to be proud of
