Maistrali Apartments Reviews
" Horrible Place with RUDE staff stay away! "
Submitted By: King-Kong-UK
This is the first time staying on Zante with my lovely girlfriend. We choose the Maistrali Apartments Tsvilli because the reviews looked good and pictures too. How wrong we were, I want to clear up some major issues with this place before considering booking here. I’m not trying to sway your decision, but I feel I have some really important things you need to know.
1.Firstly their web site sates that they will book your transfer for you just send them an e-mail and they will meet you at the airport. I did this arrived in Zante morning time and no Taxi, we paid 20 Euros to get to the hotel standard price, to be told the e-mail was picked up but they no longer offer the service, but still advertise this so please don’t rely on them, they couldn’t even be bothered to e-mail me back Thanks!
2.Their attitudes, the place is run by a family, the two parents are horrible people, they never smile, they just want your money, if you buy food out of the hotel they make your holiday very difficult, the daughter is always shrugging her shoulders and every jobs seems like it’s the end of the world, it’s your JOB woman do it!
3.The location is the worst in Tsvilli, it’s the very end hotel on the strip, bear in mind this walk into Tsvilli town, where you need to go every night because the hotel does not offer any entertainment oh except bingo once a week, it will take you 40 minutes walking on dark roads which are very hilly, so you need to get a taxi there and back which is 14 Euros everyday on the price of your holiday.
4.If you decide to get a motorbike get one from Theo Rentals they are in Tsvilli and they offer a motorbike for 10 Euros a day compared with the Maistrali who said they were doing some good prices at 30 Euros a day! And the old hairy owner shouted at me a few times for parking the bike at the front because he was annoyed I got a bike from a different company what ever happened to choice? We didn’t see one person in the hotel who had used them for rentals because of the prices they offer ROBBERS!
5.Entertainment – nonexistent but if you like bingo once a week with some old miserable Greek people stay here.
6.Food – Rubbish if you order a hamburger you get a hamburger, no garnish ect just a frozen burger and a white bun, toast is never toasted and the miserable lady who serves it puts you off your breakfast because of her doom and gloom face and attitude.
7.Self Catering – Very poor utilities one pan which will fit an egg it in and another pan the size of a cauldron, they make you buy your own washing up liquid, towel and scrubber all added costs.
8.Checking out – They make you check out at 10. My flight wasn’t till Monday at 7:30am so we had no hotel room from Sunday at 10 am, the owner said that once you check out you are no longer part of the hotel, he basically doesn’t want to know you.
So all in all we had the terrible holiday never have a wasted so much time and money on a hotel, who make you feel like scum, making us shower next to the pool because they wouldn’t allow us to go up to a friend’s room, I will never return here and be telling people not to book here.

Advice: Do not stay here!

Just got back from Maistali in Zante. Not the best place I've been to. Very Benidorm or Blackpool depending on the temperature. Plenty of asses by the pool (not bottoms, more donkeys) Rooms clean and tidy though, and staff helpful, but the cheaper rooms seem to attract the wrong sort of crowd. The bingo night was too loud especially if you didnt want to join in, but wanted to sleep at a reasonable hour. Had to escape to the complex next door a few times to escape the muppets. Tragaki's quiet and away from the madding crowds of the main resorts, but these are easy to get to if you want for a 7euro taxi ride. Overall, I'd probably book again but would make sure it was to the complex next door! Yamas!

A clean comfortable hotel set in a quiet location, good food on site at very reasonable prices, also excellent eating close by.
The general standard of food on the island is the best I have experienced on a package holiday.
Lovely scenery on this very green island. The islanders are charming and helpful. 2 day trip to Athens is a must. Weather was perfect for seeing the island, not too hot later in season. Zante is more scenic than Kefalonia. Highly recommended.

I have just come back from these apartments. My sister and I had a lovely holiday and have never met such friendly staff, Voula and Jenny on reception always have a smile and a chat with you. Steve on the bar and his partner Jackie in the restaurant.
We thought the apartments were either new or refurbished because the place was so clean, but apparently not. They are just well kept and maintained.
I would certainly recommend it, but unfortunately from next year they are only taking Direct Bookings.

I’d thought I’d give a teenager's point of view so parents know what there is for children and teenagers like my friends that I made there and I.
The pool is brilliant!!!!!! Its really clean and really well kept by Pedros!!!!!!!! Pedros was really friendly and taught us all to play pool. He was really friendly but couldn’t speak alot of English!
At night time, all the adults sit around the bar area chatting and muttering while all the kids that have become friends hang around together. When I visited Maistrali, I made friends quite quickly and so did my parents. My friends and I all sat around the pool table, it was our hang out! It was alot of fun because no one pestered us to go away like they do in England.
There was another hobby of ours and that was to play hide and seek and to go lizard spotting! There were lizards by most of the lights in the building. We loved it! There were loads of hiding places to discover and to keep away from all the adults who were too busy getting drunk downstairs! There are three floors in the I think 3 or 4 blocks of apartments. It was brilliant!
In the daytime, the pool is refreshing to be in and is alot of fun when you can play so many games and hang with your friends.
I thought it was good for teenagers and small children to stay in because there was alot for us to do, there was also a table football and two pool tables but we liked the outside one best.
The receptionists were so nice and so were the people behind the bar! They all work very hard to do their best for you.
As for the flights with Thomson, they were brilliant, for the last half an hour or so of the flight as we neared the island, the captain gave us narrations of what we were passing, which was found as quite interesting as we passed mainland Greece and Kefalonia. From some of the apartments, you can see Kefalonia over the horizon. That was cool!
Also, on board the aircraft the in flight meals were amazing! You got a lot of food for an in flight meal, I thought it was great!
Maistrali apartments were in Tragaki and I’ve heard that's about 3km away from Tsilivi. We walked into Tsilivi everyday and it seemed alot longer than 3km. But also there were a few tavernas along the road going down to the beach.
If you do go to Tsilivi, make sure you go to Popeye's. We went there 5 times in two weeks, it was the best restaurant in the whole island (at least I think so anyway).
All in all, Maistrali was a brilliant place to stay and is suitable for all ages, Thomson is also a brilliant airline and we are travelling with them again this year but this time we are going to Ixia in Rhodes. Will update about the apartments there as well when we get back.
I would give Maistrali 8 out of 10 because I didn’t like having to walk so far to Tsilivi, it was a bit too far away from the hustle and bustle, maybe it just doesn’t suit a town girl like me, although I did have a brilliant time and do fully recommend it.

Having stayed previously we ventured away from the hotel more and found some lovely spots to spend time together. The walk along the beach into Tsvili was as lovely as we remembered and we found the Boomerang restaurant next to the Watersports place was the perfect place to either start the day or to end the day, the food and service was excellent.
The Maistrali is due for a major refurbishment at the beginning of the year and major changes will occur. It is just a pity that Jackie and Steve will not be there having been paid off on the day of our departure.
All in all a lovely holiday and cleanliness cannot be faulted or the food.
Advice: Enjoy but be prepared to either walk or take a taxi (which if on a budget soon adds up)
Activities: Amboula beach bar served excellent food with not a hamburger in site!!
Good for: Beach
