Four adults spent one week at the...
8 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr Paul Jeffries

Four adults spent one week at the holiday village in turkey. The weather was good even though it was becoming towards the end of the season. Personally give it 8/10, why, please read on…
First of all I cannot make any judgements about the actual village itself. It is extremely clean and very well maintained. The gardens and the grounds are immaculate and there are gardeners around all day. They clean all the pools every night.
It is a great holiday for the kids without any doubt. If you have kids they will be amused daily and loads of events on site for them. The reps work their heart out and keep the little beggars amused all day and night.
The food if you are there all inclusive was fantastic! It was on tap 24 hours a day, fresh, all well presented. There was a choice of breakfast, dinners etc from all around the world and they catered for the English too! Please be aware that Turkey is a Muslim country and you WILL NOT get pork, bacon etc!
So briefly the good points are:
1. The whole complex is very, very clean. The rooms are exceptional and clean and tidy every day. I strongly recommend for those not going with kids to book the Jacuzzi Suites; they are out the way in separate blocks and quiet. You also have you own small pools dotted around away from the main pool.
2. Food is plenty.
3. The average wage in Turkey is £200per month, so please leave tips for the cleaners at the end of your stay.
4. Entertainment in the evening is a massive let down, other than Bingo and pathetic reps trying to be funny than thats all there is, so for the adults we were bored.
5. First Choice try and sell trips. Go to the market on Sunday in Sarigerme Village. Taxis leave from outside and cost 10ytl. You can walk it in 20minutes. There is a travel company in the village that do the same trips for a lot less. Please go on the Dalyan trip to the Mud baths and Turtle beach, we paid £14 per adult for the WHOLE day and that includes travel there and lunch.
Please remember you can use English money in the resort and on trips and in the market.
IMPORTANTLY: when you get off the plane you must go to the visa desk, which is just right of immigration and pay your £10 per person entry into the country, this includes infants. Show them your passport and give them the money they will stamp your passport then queue in the immigration line up!
Overall the holiday was good, the complex was brill, just bare in mind it is for the kids and not much for the adults. It’s clean. We went with £220 spending; we came back with £140!

We have just returned from a week at...
9 / 10
Jun 2006, Mrs A Davies

We have just returned from a week at the Iberotel in Sarigerme. The hotel itself is beautiful set in grounds full of flowers, ponds and trees, which were attended to everyday by the Garden team. We were frequently visited by wild tortoise, birds, squirrels and terrapins, which our 7 year old daughter found fascinating. The rooms are spotlessly clean with frequent maid service.
The hotel food was excellent offering many different dishes, including lamb, beef, chicken and pasta and also offering plenty of fresh fruit, salads and a huge selection of desserts. There are ice sculptures and melons are carved with beautiful designs. We were all inclusive at this hotel and it was well worth it.
The pool was huge but one depth and very clean and was never short of space to swim, with plenty of parasols and chairs to sit on.
I only have one complaint about this hotel and that is it is predominately German speaking, in fact we and another couple with a baby were the only English speaking guests at the hotel. There was a hotel run kids club but our 7 year old was not able to go as no one spoke English. (We were told by Thomson that it was a Thomson run kids club, not so!)
The Thomson rep only visited us twice, the first time for a welcome meeting, and then again to lodge our complaint. The rep was based in Marmaris and only visited the day after guests arrive. In fact when we made our complaint regarding the kids club we did not see her again.
We were not given any information regarding the flight home and had several problems getting hold of the 24 hour helpline, and when we did we ended up with a twenty pound phone bill.
Before we left for our holiday we had asked Thomson if there were various excursions we could go to from this resort, and were told this was not a problem.
When we were given a list of the excursions from this hotel there was only one suitable for children, however if you are willing to pay £120.00 to get a taxi to Marmaris (which takes 1/5 hours to get there then you can go on any trip you like.
We did do the Dalyan adventure with Thomson however found this very disappointing, as we were taken to a carpet place for an hour which none of the other trip goers were informed about either, and was a waste of time as the carpets were very expensive to buy.
The hotel manager was German, however when she heard of our complaint that none of the food was translated into English, she ensured this was done by the next day.
The beach was within 5 minutes of the hotel and was clean but hot, there was a beach bar open until 2am and again served snacks and waitress service.
There is a cool breeze in Sarigerme which is welcomed as we experienced temperatures of 40.
The entertainment in the evening was also predominately in German, however there was a Turkish and Spanish night, and the entertainment team work very hard.
The hotel and food is beautiful and would suit people who speak German and like spending all day on the beach or in the pool, but if you expect children’s activities and excursions then this would not be the hotel to visit.
We have given this hotel a 9 rating for its beauty, food and cleanliness, however we would give Thomson a big fat 0 as they were not really interested in our complaint and the fact that incorrect information was given to us before we left.
I would like to thank the Manager of the hotel and Oz from the entertainment team for making us feel welcome and for trying to help us in any way they could which is more than we can say for Thomson!
